Abstract

This study identifies and describes the types of learning obstacles and the factors that cause them in seventh-grade students learning quadrilateral material. The qualitative method used in this research focuses on teaching barriers experienced by students at SMPN 2 Sampit. Data were collected through observation, interviews, written tests, analysis of student answers, and documentation. The results of the study showed that students faced three main types of obstacles, namely ontogeny obstacle (mental readiness, lack of motivation and enthusiasm), didactical obstacle (classical way of teaching and without involving students, less than optimal use of teaching materials using only LKS), and epistemology obstacle (limited context and also low mastery of material owned by students)

Abstract

The PISA score in 2022 decreased by 12 points from the previous edition. This result is the lowest score on record and extends the downward trend in scores from the last five editions of the assessment. In reading tests, reading techniques and materials affect students' reading ability. This study aims to reveal the effect of reading materials and reading frequency on students' reading comprehension ability. Quantitative research was applied to 64 samples. The research data were collected using questionnaires and objective tests. The results showed that students who liked reading digital reading had better reading comprehension (mean rank: 36.58) than students who liked reading print (mean rank: 29.88). Based on the frequency of reading, students' interest in reading was classified as low: high (n= 1); medium (n= 15); and low (n= 48). Reading frequency was positively correlated with reading comprehension performance. High reading frequency has the best reading comprehension performance (mean rank: 62.00), medium frequency (mean rank: 38.33), and low frequency (mean rank: 30.06). Students' low interest in reading is a signal for interventions to develop students' interest in reading, which has implications for improving academic performance.

Abstract

In 2020, the government conducted a Minimum Competency Assessment (MCA) for students in Indonesia's 5th, 8th, and 11th grades. However, the results of this MCA are still not satisfactory. This research aims to group an area according to the level of data similarity using the k-means clustering method with the categorization of the area into low, medium, and high. This study uses MCA result data on literacy and numeracy for each level of education. From each cluster formed, there are significant differences in characteristics based on testing from the Tukey and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test. From the categorization of the clusters formed, it's expected that the government needs to provide particular interventions in areas included in cluster 1, which consists of 19 provinces in Indonesia with the lowest AKM characteristic scores. Abstract

Situations and conditions of different family statuses, such as families with divorced status, make students who have this experience feel different from other students, providing challenges for each student who has this experience. This condition triggers obstacles and pressures during the learning process at school, so an ability that can be built into facing these problematic experiences is needed; this ability is resilience. This research aims to see and determine the relationship between resilience and learning motivation in adolescents whose parents are divorced. The subjects in this study consisted of 162 students from divorced parents at SMA Kartika XX-1 Makassar. The sampling technique used in this research was saturated samples. This research was measured using a modified learning motivation and resilience scale. The analysis used in this research is product-moment correlation using SPSS 26.0 software. The results of this study show that in adolescents whose parents are divorced, there is a relationship between resilience and learning motivation with a significance value of 0.000 (sig < α). The person correlation value is 0.994, which means that the higher the resilience, the higher the motivation to learn in teenagers whose parents are divorced. The implications of this research can provide an overview of resilience and learning motivation in adolescents whose parents are divorced

Abstract

Computational thinking and Problem-Based Learning have educational benefits for learners and have been widely used in teaching and learning. However, research into integrating these theories into the teaching and learning process is scarce, leaving educators with little guidance in using constructive learning theory techniques. This research aims to thoroughly review and determine the place of research, level, learning materials, type of research, and instruments used to get an overview of how computational thinking, problem-solving, and learning methodologies lead to the successful application of computational thinking and problem-solving. From 2018-2023, this research tracks relevant published articles to identify gaps in implementing computational thinking and problem-solving. Research on computational thinking in problem-solving in the last five years has been widely used, but it still needs to be improved for other researchers, especially in provinces with few or even few researchers. Other researchers, especially in provinces that still have little or no research on computational thinking in problem-solving. have not examined computational thinking in problem-solving. In addition, the material that is taught to support computational thinking is the most widely used number pattern material at the junior high school level with test instruments and interviews.
