Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has transformed educational practices globally, presenting both challenges and opportunities for Islamic education. This study examines the dynamics of reforming Islamic education curricula to align with the demands of the digital age while preserving core Islamic values. The research aims to explore effective strategies for integrating digital tools and methodologies into Islamic education, ensuring relevance and accessibility for contemporary learners. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing document analysis, expert interviews, and focus group discussions with educators, curriculum developers, and digital experts. The findings reveal that while digitalization enhances access to educational resources and fosters innovative teaching methods, it also introduces challenges such as the potential dilution of traditional values and a digital divide among learners. Key outcomes include a framework for a modern Islamic education curriculum that balances technological integration with spiritual and ethical teachings. The study concludes that reforming Islamic education in the digital age necessitates a holistic approach, embracing technology while safeguarding the integrity of Islamic principles. This research contributes to the discourse on modernizing religious education to prepare learners for a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Abstract

The integration of Qur’anic principles into modern government systems represents a critical area of inquiry in contemporary Islamic governance studies. Muslim-majority countries have sought to align governance practices with Islamic values while addressing the challenges of modern state systems. This research examines the implementation of Qur’anic principles, such as justice (adl), consultation (shura), and accountability (muhasabah), in the governance frameworks of selected Muslim countries. The study explores how these principles are operationalized within modern political and legal systems to balance Islamic ideals with global governance standards. The research aims to assess the extent to which Qur’anic principles influence contemporary governance structures and identify best practices and challenges in their application. Employing a qualitative case study methodology, the study analyzes governance models in Malaysia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia through primary legal documents, government policies, and interviews with policymakers and scholars. The findings reveal significant variations in the operationalization of Qur’anic principles across the selected countries, reflecting differences in political systems, historical contexts, and interpretations of Islamic law. The study concludes that effectively integrating Qur’anic principles into modern governance requires context-specific approaches that align with both Islamic teachings and contemporary governance standards.

Abstract

The evolving landscape of Islamic education necessitates an examination of traditional and modern Qur’anic teaching methods to address the demands of contemporary learners. Traditional methods, such as rote memorization (tahfiz) and teacher-centered approaches, have been central to Qur’anic education for centuries. In contrast, modern methods emphasize interactive and learner-centered pedagogies, incorporating technology and critical thinking. This study compares these approaches to evaluate their effectiveness in fostering Qur’anic understanding and engagement among students. The research aims to identify the strengths and limitations of both teaching methods, providing insights into their impact on students’ comprehension, retention, and spiritual connection with the Qur’an. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining surveys and interviews with students, teachers, and education experts across Islamic schools and institutions. Comparative analysis of classroom observations further enriched the findings. The results reveal that traditional methods excel in promoting memorization and discipline but often lack adaptability to diverse learning needs. Modern methods, while fostering critical thinking and engagement, face challenges in maintaining traditional values and spiritual depth. The study concludes that an integrative approach, combining the strengths of both methods, offers the most effective strategy for Qur’anic education in the modern era.

Abstract

The rise of social media has revolutionized communication and presented new opportunities for Islamic propagation (da’wah). As digital platforms become integral to modern life, they offer unprecedented potential for disseminating Islamic teachings to a global audience. However, the effectiveness of digital da’wah depends on strategic engagement, content quality, and adaptability to diverse audiences. This study aims to explore effective strategies for spreading Islam through social media, identifying key factors that influence reach, engagement, and impact. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining content analysis of 200 da’wah-related posts across major social media platforms with surveys and interviews of 150 Islamic content creators and their audiences. Quantitative data measured engagement metrics, while qualitative insights explored perceptions of effectiveness and challenges faced by content creators. The findings indicate that successful digital da’wah strategies prioritize authenticity, audience interactivity, and relevance to contemporary issues. Visual storytelling, short video formats, and consistent posting schedules were identified as highly effective tactics. Challenges such as combating misinformation and addressing audience diversity were also highlighted. The study concludes that social media can be a powerful tool for Islamic propagation if utilized with strategic planning and cultural sensitivity. Future efforts should focus on capacity-building for content creators and fostering collaborative networks.

Abstract

The discipline of Kal?m (Islamic theology) has historically served as a framework for addressing theological controversies, utilizing rational discourse to harmonize scriptural interpretation with intellectual inquiry. In the modern era, theological debates concerning issues such as faith, ethics, and the reconciliation of science and religion have intensified, necessitating renewed exploration of Kal?m as a method for resolving these challenges. This study examines the contribution of Kal?m in addressing contemporary theological controversies through rational debates and intellectual engagement. A qualitative approach was employed, combining historical analysis and textual study of classical Kal?m works with case studies of modern applications in theological discourse. Data were collected through critical analysis of primary texts and interviews with contemporary theologians and scholars actively engaging in rational debates on theological issues. The findings demonstrate that Kal?m provides a robust intellectual foundation for navigating contemporary theological controversies. Its emphasis on rational argumentation fosters constructive dialogue between traditional Islamic perspectives and modern intellectual paradigms. The study concludes that Kal?m remains a vital tool for resolving contemporary theological controversies, bridging the gap between tradition and modernity.
