Abstract

Background. Creole language is a language that developed through contact between very different languages. Morphological innovations in these languages reflect dynamic adaptations to social and linguistic contexts. This study aims to explore morphological innovations in creole languages and how language contact plays a role in the formation of the language's morphological system. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the types of morphological innovations in creole languages, as well as to examine the relationship between morphological changes and social and cognitive factors in the speaking community. Method. This study uses a qualitative approach with analysis of creole language morphological data obtained from interviews, daily conversations, and existing literature. The data were analyzed using descriptive and comparative methods to identify morphological innovation patterns. Results. The study found that reduplication was the most dominant morphological innovation in creole language, followed by new affixation and morphological borrowing. These innovations are largely influenced by social interaction and the influence of superstratum and substrate languages. Conclusion. Morphological innovations in creole languages demonstrate the ability of language to adapt and evolve despite having simple roots. This research contributes to a further understanding of how creole language evolved and served as a communication tool in complex social contexts.

Abstract

Background. Language processing and syntactic structure are closely linked to the cognitive system and mental representation. Mental representation serves as an internal model that allows speakers to predict, interpret, and produce grammatically structured sentences. In recent years, research in psycholinguistics and cognitive neuroscience has increasingly highlighted the neural and cognitive mechanisms underlying syntactic processing. Understanding how mental representation interacts with syntax can help explain individual differences in language ability and processing efficiency. Purpose. This study aims to examine the role of mental representation in the construction and processing of syntactic structures. Specifically, the research investigates how cognitive factors such as working memory and attention influence the mental encoding and retrieval of syntactic patterns. Furthermore, the study seeks to understand the neural basis of syntactic processing and how different brain regions contribute to syntactic comprehension and production. Method. The research employs a qualitative approach combined with neuropsychological analysis. Data collection includes cognitive tests assessing working memory and attentional capacity, as well as brain imaging techniques such as functional MRI (fMRI) to observe neural activity during syntactic processing tasks. This multi-method approach provides both behavioral and neurological insights into the interplay between mental representation and syntax. Results. The findings show that brain regions such as the prefrontal cortex and Broca’s area exhibit significant activity during syntactic processing tasks. The level of brain activation correlates with individual differences in working memory and attention, indicating that cognitive capacity influences syntactic processing efficiency. Conclusion. Mental representation plays a critical role in syntactic structure formation and language processing. Cognitive factors, particularly working memory and attention, significantly contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of syntactic processing, highlighting the importance of integrating cognitive and neuropsychological perspectives in language research.

Abstract

Background. The virtualization of sign language through artificial intelligence in social media platforms presents linguistic challenges that have not been widely explored, especially related to the accuracy of syntactic structures in digital contexts. These visual representations have the potential to reproduce grammatical misconceptions that impact the meaning and effectiveness of communication. Purpose. This study aims to explore how the syntactic structure of sign language is represented in a virtual format by AI systems used in social media such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as identify their accuracy and distortions. Method. The research uses an exploratory qualitative approach with a cross-platform case study design. Data were obtained from 30 virtual sign language videos and analyzed using visual-spatial linguistic frameworks and open coding techniques. Validation is carried out through thematic triangulation analysis and expert consultation. Results. The results show that the representation of syntactic structure varies greatly between platforms, with YouTube being superior in accuracy to TikTok. Factors such as the length of the video, the sophistication of the algorithm, and the presence of non-manual elements greatly affect the completeness of sentence structure in virtual sign language. Conclusion. The current representation of sign language by AI does not fully reflect the complex syntactic structure. A new approach is needed in the development of multimodal-based technologies that consider linguistic elements as a whole to make digital communication more inclusive and accurate.

Abstract

Background. The sustainability of classical Arabic manuscripts is often confined to digitization efforts that focus solely on image preservation and limited text markup. These approaches do not fully address the semantic richness and epistemological structure inherent in Islamic intellectual heritage. Purpose. This study aims to develop a semantic annotation model tailored for classical Arabic texts to support digital philology and enrich manuscript sustainability through machine-readable and concept-linked interpretations. Method. Using a developmental qualitative research design, three classical manuscripts were annotated semantically using a custom-built model based on RDF and Islamic ontology. The model was evaluated by domain experts in philology and computational linguistics, focusing on four criteria: semantic accuracy, contextual relevance, interoperability, and usability. Results. The model achieved annotation accuracy above 91% across all manuscripts. Experts rated semantic precision (4.7/5) and contextual relevance (4.6/5) as its strongest aspects. The system successfully mapped technical terms and logical concepts within classical texts and linked them across manuscripts. A case study demonstrated the model’s effectiveness in identifying relationships between epistemological terms and enabling thematic exploration. Conclusion. This semantic annotation model advances digital philology by enabling structured, concept-based analysis of classical Arabic texts. It bridges computational methods with Islamic textual traditions and opens new pathways for collaborative, sustainable, and meaningful engagement with manuscript heritage.
