Abstract

This study uses adobe flash professional based learning media for experimental class while in control class using CourseLab media. Learning media based on adobe flash professional designed in the form of applications for smartphones and computers or notebooks. This study aims to determine the interaction and differences in learning result for students who have low and high creative thinking level who learn by using adobe flash professional media than students who use the media CourseLab. This research was conducted in department D3 mechatronic class of 2015 at State University of Trunojoyo Madura (UTM) on PLC course and using factorial design 2 x 2, with  total of students in the experimental class as much as 44 people and total of students in the control class as many as 26 people. Data Processing Technique for hypothesis testing, used two-independent-samples test technique. If the prerequisite test of normality and homogeneity is not met, we will use the mann-whitney u test technique. Research finds: (1) for students who have a low level of creative thinking, who learn by using adobe flash professional learning media, psychomotor domain learning outcomes is significantly higher than students who learn by using instructional media CourseLab; (2) for students who have a high level of creative thinking, who learn by using adobe flash professional learning media, psychomotor domain learning outcomes is significantly higher than students who learn by using instructional media CourseLab; and (3) there is a significant interaction between the level of students' creative thinking and learning media, to psychomotor domain learning outcomes. Research suggests: (1) research subjects used at least more than 150 students, to obtain better data (normal distributed data); and (2) the preparation of tools and materials must be in accordance with the needs to be used, so that the quality of learning is increasing.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui: (1) bagaimanakah tingkat motivasi belajar, kinerja Prakerin, intensitas pembimbingan guru Prakerin dan kesiapan kerja; (2) pengaruh masing-masing variabel motivasi belajar, kinerja Prakerin, intensitas pembimbingan guru Prakerin terhadap kesiapan kerja; dan (3) pengaruh secara bersama-sama variabel motivasi belajar, kinerja Prakerin, intensitas pembimbingan guru Prakerin terhadap kesiapan kerja siswa SMK Pariwisata Kompetensi Keahlian Jasa Boga di DIY. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survey dengan pendekatan ex post facto. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif, analisis regresi linier sederhana dan analisis regresi ganda dengan bantuan software SPSS 16. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Variabel motivasi belajar, intensitas pembimbingan guru Prakerin dan kesiapan kerja diperoleh kategori sedang serta kinerja Prakerin dalam kategori rendah; (2) terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan variabel motivasi belajar terhadap kesiapan kerja; (3) terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan Variabel kinerja Prakerin terhadap kesiapan kerja; (4) terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan variabel intensitas pembimbingan guru Prakerin terhadap kesiapan kerja; dan (5) terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan secara bersama-sama ketiga variabel independen terhadap variabel dependen. THE INFLUENCE OF LEARNING MOTIVATION, PERFORMANCE, INTENSITY OF PRAKERIN MENTORING ON WORK READINESS OF STUDENTS IN TOURISM VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL YOGYAKARTA SPECIAL REGIONAbstractThis study aimed to find out: (1) how is the learning motivation, Prakerin performance, intensity of Prakerin teacher mentoring and job readiness; (2) the effect of each variable motivation, Prakerin performance, intensity of Prakerin teacher mentoring on work readiness; and (3) the influence of variables motivation, Prakerin performance, intensity of Prakerin teacher mentoring in aggregate on work readiness of students in Vocational High School Majoring in Catering Services in Yogyakarta Special Region.This was a survey research with ex post facto approach study. The data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis technique, simple liner regression analysis and multiple regression analysis with the help of software SPSS 16.Research conclusion shows: (1) variable learning motivation, intensity of Prakerin teacher mentoring and job readiness are in the fair category obtained and Prakerin the performance in the low category; (2) there is a positive and significant influence of learning motivation on work readiness; (3) there is a positive and significant influence of Prakerin performance on job readiness; (4) there is a positive and significant influence of intensity Prakerin teacher mentoring on job readiness; and (5) there is a positive and significant influence of the three independent variables in aggregate on the dependent variable.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) pembelajaran yang baik menurut mahasiswa, (2) profil pembelajaran dilihat dari sisi pelaksanaan, (3) keunggulan pembelajaran di Jurusan Pendidikan Teknik Mesin, (4) kelemahan pembelajaran di Jurusan pendidikan Teknik Mesin, (5) kinerja/layanan dosen dalam perkuliahan, (6) krakteristik dosen yang baik. Penelitian dirancang dengan pendekatan kuantitatif model ex-post facto dengan metode utama survey. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik UNY. Sample ditentukan secara proporsional dengan teknik random. Pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan wawancara terbatas. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) karakteristik pembelajaran yang baik adalah pembelajaran aktif yang sifatnya interaktif dengan menempatkan mahasiswa sebagai subjek; (2) pelaksanaan pembelajaran sudah berjalan dengan baik; (3) Keunggulan pembelajaran terutama berada pada pembelajaran praktek dengan dukungan fasilitas yang memadai; (4) Kelemahan pembelajaran tampak dalam aspek cara mengajar beberapa dosen yang masih konvensional, suasana kelas yang kurang kondusif, kedisiplinan mengajar, dan orientasi pembelajaran dalam upaya pembekalan kompetensi selain bidang keahlian; (5) Dosen telah menunjukkan layanan yang baik dalam perkuliahan di dalam kelas maupun di luar kelas, dan (6) Karakteristik dosen yang dapat dijadikan sebagai model antara lain: menunjukkan penguasaan materi, menyampaikan materi dengan jelas, interaktif, disiplin, obyektif, mampu menumbuhkan suasana kelas yang kondusif, bersahabat dengan mahasiswa, dan mampu menumbuhkan karakter dan motivasi peserta didik.Kata kunci: pembelajaran, pendidikan teknologi dan kejuruan, efektivitas pembelajaran LEARNING PROFILE AT FACULTY OF ENGINEERING YOGYAKARTA STATE UNIVERSITY(Studies at Department of Mechanical Engineering Education)AbstractThis study aims to determine: (1) students perception about a good learning, (2) the profile of implementation learning, (3) the exellences of learning in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, (4) the weakness of learning at the Department of Education Mechanical Engineering, (5) performance or services of lecturer, (6) the characteristics of a good lecturer. The study was designed with a quantitative approach with ex-post facto model by survey. Research conducted on students of the Faculty of Engineering. Sample is determined proportionally with random technique. Collecting data using questionnaires and interviews. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that: (1) The characteristics of good learning is interactive with students as subjects; (2) the implementation of learning is already well; (3) The exellences of learning mainly be on practical learning with the support of adequate facilities; (4) The weakness seen in the aspect of learning are still conventional, classroom atmosphere which is less conducive, discipline teaching and learning orientation in an effort debriefing competence in addition to areas of expertise; (5) lecturer has shown a good service in the lecture in the classroom and outside the classroom; and (6) a good characteristics of lecturer who could serve as a model, demonstrate mastery of the material, presenting the material with clear, interactive, discipline, objective, able to foster a conducive classroom atmosphere, friendly to students, and is able to grow the character and motivation of learners.Keywords: learning, teaching, technical and vocational education

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of graduates of state vocational high schools in Langsa City on the performance of Special Job Market in vocational high schools based on the aspects of (1) Special Job Market performance; (2) role of Special Job Market; (3) Special Job Market service; and (4) the success of the Special Job Market. This study is quantitative research employing a descriptive approach. The population of the research is 365 graduates tracked through the Special Job Market of four vocational schools in Langsa City in 2007/2008. From the population, 15% were taken for the samples of the study, so the number of respondents is 55 graduates. The result of the research shows that: (1) the percentage of Special Job Market performance aspect is 58.54% with “quite satisfied” criteria; (2) the percentage of role of Special Job Market aspect is 59.14% with “quite satisfied” criteria; (3)  the percentage of Special Job Market service aspect is 51.02% with “quite satisfied” criteria; and (4) the percentage of the success of the Special Job Market aspect is 51.17% with “quite satisfied” criteria.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat prediksi prestasi belajar siswa berdasarkan status sosial ekonomi orang tua, motivasi, kedisiplinan siswa dan prestasi masa lalu menggunakan metode data mining dengan algoritma J48. Sebagai perbandingan, data penelitian dianalisis juga dengan CHAID (Chi Squared Automatic Interaction Detection) dan regresi ganda. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa tingkat X SMK Negeri 4 Surakarta berjumlah 416 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dokumentasi dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa analisis prediksi menggunakan decision tree algoritma J48 memiliki akurasi sebesar 95,7%, sedangkan analisis prediksi menggunakan CHAID memiliki tingat akurasi 82,1% dan analisis regresi ganda menghasilkan tingkat signifikansi sebesar 90,6%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut bisa disimpulkan bahwa metode J48 lebih baik dibandingkan dengan metode CHAID dan regresi ganda. DATA MINING TO PREDICT STUDENT'S ACHIEVEMENT BASED ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC, MOTIVATION, DISCIPLINE AND ACHIEVEMENT OF THE PASTAbstractThis study aims to make student achievement prediction based on socio-economic status of parents, motivation, discipline students and past achievements using data mining methods with the J48 algorithm. For comparison, the data were analyzed also with CHAID (Chi Squared Automatic Interaction Detection) and multiple regression. The research approach is quantitative. The subjects of this study were student-first level at SMK Negeri 4 Surakarta totaled 416 students. Data collection techniques used are documentation and questionnaires. The results showed that the predictive analysis using J48 decision tree algorithm has an accuracy of 95.7%, while the predictive analysis using CHAID has the rank of an accuracy of 82.1% and a multiple regression analysis resulted in a significance level of 90.6%. Based on these results it can be concluded that the J48 method is better than the CHAID and multiple regression methods.

Abstract

The research aims at enhance problem solving ability and competency skills of students. The method used was classroom action research in the course of welding practice with a group of 10 students. The research data obtained from the problem solving skills assessment interview techniques, competency skills gained from the project assessment and a written test, and the improvement data were analyzed using average gain (g). PjBL model provides students the opportunity to solve the problems of the real world by creating innovative works through their project work. PjBL model provides opportunities and experiences for students to solve the problem so the next project the students already have experience and ability to make decisions about what effort needs to be done to solve the problem. The power of thinking ability in solving the problem implications for increasing student competency skills, because any problems found can be resolved properly so that the process and the work of students increased for the better. From these results be obtained conclude the implementation of project based learning models can enhance the problem solving ability and competency skills of students.

Abstract

Several studies documented that mathematics, as it is taught in general secondary education, is far away from what is needed for most fields of vocational practice. Some studies found that workplace mathematics demands are very different from traditional mathematics taught in classrooms. Therefore, this study aims to design a learning trajectory for teaching mathematics in vocational college, oriented on the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to improve students’ understanding and motivation in learning mathematics. Design research was chosen as an appropriate method to answer the research questions and achieve the research goals. Design research methods consist of three phases, namely preliminary design, experiment, and retrospective analysis. The research result shows that the learning trajectory can improve students’ understanding. Students enjoy the learning process and give a very enthusiastic response.

Abstract

PRODUCTION-BASED LEARNING TO IMPROVE COMPETENCE IN MAKING MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DRAWINGS OF VOCATIONAL STUDENTSThis study is aimed at improving quality of learning process of Mechanical Drawing by employing Production Based Training to achieve mechanical drafter competency. Consecutively this research will also develop teacher's professionalism in managing learning process of Mechanical Drawing at SMK Sf Mikael.This classroom action research was conducted in SMK St. Mikael Surakarta. Grade XI was assigned to be subject of this research. Two collaborators were assigned to back up and assist the researchers to monitor the effects of action on student competency in mechanical drawing. The changes due to the action are monitored through observation by involving the two collaborators. The collected data was analyzed descriptively. The data analysis resulted in the following findings: (a) production based learning improves students achievement in reaching the minimum mastery criteria on Mechanical Drawing and more specifically improves student competency in producing machining industries standardized of Mechanical Working Drawing, (b) a process of expertise acquition in mechanical working drawing through combination of constructivism learning principles, behaviorism, situated learning and cognitive apprenticeship; (c) the production-based learning increases students' ability behave discipline and attitude toward mechanical drawing, and (d) production based learning was implemented through classroom discussion on the mechanical drawing principles, its implementation on working drawings, integrating knowledge on components stradard as well as production process into working drawing.

Abstract

This research aims to develop teaching practice program model for mechanical engineering education teacher trainees of State University of Surabaya. This research applied research and development (R & D) design by Borg & Gall in ten steps which are classified into two stages: research and data collection and product development. The research and data collection were conducted by applying qualitative approach through observation, interview, documentation on seven State "˜LPTK', education office, teacher profession association, teaching practice student, teaching practice supervising lecturer, headmaster, and teacher tutor. The data analysis in this stage was conducted based on the technique developed by Miles and Huberman. Data validity was tested with data triangulation using double sources as comparison. The product development stage included model pre-design making, introductory test, model revision, model test, model revision, field test, and final model revision. First stage model test was conducted in mechanical engineering department with three vocational schools. The second stage model test was conducted in mechanical engineering department with six vocational schools. The last  is dissemination stage in the form of spreading the model yielded from the product development to professionals, authorities, and policy makers. The result at this research is a teaching practice model called "KPrIP2" which consists of four main product components. "K" means partnership between Mechanical Engineering Department of State University of Surabaya and the education office of province/ regency/city in continuous planning, action, and evaluation. "Pr" means pre-teaching practice in which the students do introductory activities in vocational schools to observe and coordinate with the school's department to determine who will be the teacher tutor and what material/subject to be used in the teaching practice II. "I" means that all pre-teaching practice activities, starting from classroom peer-teaching, laboratory peer-teaching, microteaching, and real teaching in vocational school, are conducted individually and independently. "P2" means that teaching service activities must be supervised by competent/professional advisors, i.e. who have the same pedagogical and major background with the students who do the teaching practice and play role as the supervising lecturer of teaching practice I which is continued to be the advisor in teaching practice II. Teaching practice model "KPrIP2" is claimed to be effective to reach the teaching practice objectives but inefficient in budgeting.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT dan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT terhadap prestasi belajar dan kepuasan pembelajaran kelistrikan otomotif siswa, dan (2) membandingkan keefektifan metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT dan tipe NHT terhadap prestasi belajar dan kepuasan pembelajaran kelistrikan otomotif siswa SMK. Penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment dengan desain pretest-posttest with nonequivalent group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI SMK Ma'arif 1 Nanggulan Kulon Progo. Sampel dipilih sebanyak dua kelas dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Kelompok eksperimen 1 diberi perlakuan TGT dan kelompok eksperimen 2 diberi perlakuan NHT. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes dan kuisioner. Tes digunakan untuk mengetahui prestasi belajar siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Kuisioner digunakan untuk mengetahui kepuasan belajar siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah dengan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukan: (1) metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT dan NHT efektif ditinjau dari prestasi belajar dan kepuasan pembelajaran siswa SMK, dan (2) metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT lebih efektif dibanding metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT terhadap prestasi belajar dan kepuasan pembelajaran kelistrikan otomotif siswa SMK. Kata Kunci: metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT, metode pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT, prestasi belajar, kepuasan pembelajaran THE EFFECT OF THE COOPERATIVE METHOD OF TGT AND NHT ON THE LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT AND SATISFACTION IN AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRICITY OF THE SMK Abstract This study aims to: (1) investigate the effects of the application of the cooperative learning method of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type and that of the Numbered Head Together (NHT) type on the students' learning achievement and satisfaction in automotive electricity, and (2) compare the effectiveness of cooperative learning methods of the TGT type and that of the NHT type of learning achievement and learning satisfaction of automotive electrical vocational students. This was a quasi-experimental study employing the pretest-posttest-with-nonequivalent-group design. The research population comprised all Grade XI students of SMK Ma'arif 1 Nanggulan, Kulon Progo. The sample, consisting of two classes, was established by means of the simple random sampling technique. Experimental Group 1 received a treatment of the cooperative learning of the TGT type and Experimental Group 2 received a treatment of the cooperative learning of the NHT type. The data were collected through tests and questionnaires. The tests were administered to assess the students' learning achievement before and after the treatment. The questionnaires were administered to investigate their learning satisfaction before and after the treatment. The data were analyzed by means of the t-test. The results of the study showed that: (1) TGT cooperative learning method and types of NHT effective in terms of learning achievement and learning satisfaction of vocational students, and (2) TGT cooperative learning methods is more effective than NHT cooperative learning methods to learning achievement and learning satisfaction of automotive electrical vocational students.
