Abstract

This study aims to formulate development strategies for Garut Packaging House (GPH) through business model and corporate strategy analysis. The stages include mapping the existing Business Model Canvas (BMC), conducting SWOT analysis, applying the Strategic Position and Action Evaluation (SPACE) Matrix combined with the Ansoff Matrix, and finally designing a proposed BMC. The analysis results show an IFE score of 3.07 and an EFE score of 3.15, positioning GPH in Quadrant I (Grow and Build) with recommendations for aggressive strategies. The quantitative SWOT formulation highlights market penetration and product development as priority strategies, aligned with the Ansoff framework, while market development and diversification serve as supporting strategies. The proposed BMC emphasizes expanding customer segments to MSMEs and e-commerce, developing eco-friendly packaging and creative design services, optimizing digital distribution channels, and strengthening partnerships with cooperatives, local government, and creative communities. The study recommends implementing aggressive strategies through digital promotion, service diversification, cost efficiency with lean management, and continuous monitoring to ensure competitiveness and sustainability.

Abstract

Digital Communication Services Through Instagram to Increase Member Satisfaction: A Case Study of the Kopmart Business Unit of KOPMA UNISBA. The Student Cooperative of Universitas Islam Bandung (KOPMA UNISBA) utilizes Instagram as a digital communication platform to support its services in the Kopmart business unit. However, declining member participation indicates that digital service communication has not yet been optimally implemented. This study aims to analyze members’ perceptions of digital service communication through Instagram and measure the level of member satisfaction. This research employs a descriptive quantitative approach, utilizing a case study method. Data were collected from 69 active members through questionnaires, supported by interviews, observations, and documentation. The quality of digital service communication was measured using the E-Service Quality (ES-QUAL) dimensions, namely efficiency, system availability, fulfillment, and privacy. Member satisfaction was measured based on product and service quality, price, accessibility, prior experience, and institutional image. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. The results indicate that digital service communication through Instagram is categorized as “fairly good,” with weaknesses mainly found in system availability, particularly response speed and information accessibility. Member satisfaction is also classified as “fairly good,” with low scores in membership pride, cost transparency, and satisfaction with product innovation. These findings indicate that even though Instagram-based digital communication contributes to member satisfaction, improvements in responsiveness, message consistency, transparency, and innovation are still required.

Abstract

Based on Alfred Hanel's framework, cooperatives are conceptualized as socio-economic organizations that integrate social and economic dimensions. Cooperatives not only focus on commercial profitability but also emphasize social empowerment through economic democracy, where members hold dual roles as owners and users. The organizational structure of cooperatives, comprising the General Assembly, Management, and Supervisory Boards, is analyzed as a fundamental component of cooperative governance. Furthermore, the paper explores internal and external factors affecting cooperative performance, including government regulations, competition, and technological advancements. The application of management functions—encompassing planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling—is evaluated to ensure operational efficiency. The relationship between primary and secondary cooperatives and the role of Apex Cooperatives in enhancing cooperative efficiency and competitiveness are also key areas of discussion. Ultimately, the paper concludes that cooperatives must optimize management practices, leverage technology, and strengthen strategic partnerships to achieve sustainable member welfare.

Abstract

Cooperatives, as family-based entities, have a fundamental goal of creating economic well-being for their members. This goal is reflected not only in direct economic benefits in the form of Net Operating Surplus (SHU), but also in indirect economic benefits that are long-term and strategic. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence member participation in cooperative decision-making and business activities, and to measure the contribution of these indirect economic benefits to the creation of economic value for members. This study uses the Economic Value Added (EVA) approach as a quantitative measurement tool to capture the economic value added generated by cooperatives for their members beyond the distribution of SHU. The research method used is a case study with quantitative and qualitative approaches at the West Java Provincial Government Employees Cooperative in Bandung City. Data were collected through questionnaires to measure member participation and financial report documentation studies for EVA calculations. The analysis results show that member participation factors, especially in monitoring and utilization of services, have a significant relationship with member perceptions of indirect economic benefits. The EVA calculation reveals that the cooperative has succeeded in creating positive economic value for its members, where this value represents indirect benefits in the form of increased access, security, and economic stability obtained by members. This study concludes that active member participation is a catalyst in maximizing the economic value added created by cooperatives, thereby strengthening the sustainability and relevance of cooperatives as pillars of a member-based economy.

Abstract

Consumer cooperatives in Bandung City are expected to serve as strategic institutions in supporting the local economy. However, their business development has tended to stagnate and has not yet made a significant contribution to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). This study aims to examine the influence of managerial entrepreneurial spirit and service quality on member participation and its implications for cooperative business development. The research employs a quantitative approach with a causal-confirmatory design. Primary data were collected using a questionnaire instrument with a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS 4.0.9.9 software. The findings indicate that, simultaneously, managerial entrepreneurial spirit and service quality influence member participation by 55%. Furthermore, managerial entrepreneurial spirit, service quality, and member participation together affect cooperative business development by 29.1%, with the remaining variance explained by other factors. Partially, only service quality was found to have a positive and significant effect on member participation.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a spin-off model for Savings and Loan Units (USP) into independent Savings and Loan Cooperatives (KSP), as mandated by the Regulation of the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 8 of 2023. The study uses a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews and document analysis at the Bandung City Government Employees Cooperative (KPKB), whose USP assets exceed 50% of the cooperative's total assets. The study findings indicate that a successful spin-off requires comprehensive preparation in several key aspects: institutional and legal compliance, organizational restructuring, membership separation, asset and capital division, human resource readiness, and operational infrastructure. Based on these considerations, the study proposes a multi-stage spin-off model that includes: (1) member approval through the Annual Members Meeting (RAT), (2) preparation of a legal deed, (3) registration through the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, and (4) establishment of an independent KSP governance structure. The main challenges identified include regulatory complexity, administrative readiness, member acceptance, and initial operational costs. Conversely, spin-offs offer significant opportunities to improve financial transparency and accountability, service focus, and long-term business sustainability. This model provides practical guidance for cooperatives undergoing similar mandatory transitions and contributes to the evolving literature on cooperative restructuring and compliance with financial sector regulations.

Abstract

Despite continuous asset growth, many cooperatives experience stagnation in Sisa Hasil Usaha (SHU), indicating inefficiencies in financial management. This study aims to analyze the performance of cooperative financial management in optimizing SHU by examining profitability and operational efficiency at Koperasi Dharma Nirmala Mandiri during the 2020–2024 period. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using secondary data from financial statements, analyzed through profitability ratios (Return on Assets and Net Profit Margin), operational efficiency ratios, and trend analysis. The results show that total assets increased by approximately 18% over the study period, while SHU remained relatively stagnant at around Rp60 million per year. Profitability indicators reveal consistently low performance, with Return on Assets declining from 0.31% to 0.26% and Net Profit Margin decreasing from 0.88% to 0.74%. In addition, operational efficiency was weak, as operating costs absorbed nearly 98% of total operating revenues. The study concludes that the cooperative’s financial management performance has not been optimal in converting asset growth into sustainable SHU and recommends strengthening operational efficiency, improving asset productivity, and enhancing financial control to support long-term cooperative sustainability.
