Abstract

Digital transformation in cooperative services has become urgent in the technology-driven economy. This study aims to describe the process of digital communication transformation in cooperative services and provide strategic recommendations for optimizing technology-based services to enhance cooperative service efficiency. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using observation, interviews, and literature review methods. Koperasi Tawakal Kreasi Indonesia (KTKI) was selected as the case study because this savings and loan cooperative has been developing the KITA application as a digital solution to improve cooperative services for its members, particularly online motorcycle taxi driver communities. The findings reveal that the managerial functions—planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling— play a crucial role in the success of digital transformation in cooperatives. Information technology has been proven to enhance service accessibility, transparency, and operational efficiency. However, implementation challenges include human resource limitations, resistance to change, and administrative obstacles. This study recommends several strategies, including enhancing the capacity of the information technology team, conducting member outreach and education, optimizing digital infrastructure, resolving cooperative governance issues, and strengthening strategic partnerships. By implementing these strategies, digital transformation is expected to increase cooperative competitiveness, expand service reach, and sustainably improve member welfare.

Abstract

Consumer cooperatives have great potential to be developed in Indonesia, considering that the retail sector is a business that never experiences setbacks. However, until now, cooperatives operating in the financial services sector dominate more than consumer cooperatives. By referring to the consumer cooperative model that has been successful in various countries such as NTUC Fair Price in Singapore, Edeka in Germany, and Coop Mart in Vietnam, this article discusses strategies for developing consumer cooperatives in Indonesia in the face of the dominance of the modern retail business. Consumer cooperatives can be a solution in creating a fairer trading system, providing direct economic benefits to their members, and increasing bargaining power in dealing with suppliers. This research also highlights the challenges faced by consumer cooperatives, including a lack of public understanding, limited access to capital, and unsupportive regulations. By implementing digitalization strategies, collaboration with MSMEs, as well as innovation in membership management and marketing, consumer cooperatives in Indonesia have a great opportunity to develop and contribute to the national economy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the profitability (rentability) and its relationship with the economic benefits received by members of the Mitra Usaha Cisempur Consumer Cooperative in Jatinangor District, Sumedang Regency. Profitability, measured through Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE), reflects the cooperative’s efficiency in managing its assets and equity to generate residual income (SHU). The study uses a quantitative descriptive approach, with financial report data from 2019 to 2023 serving as the basis for analysis. Results show fluctuating profitability levels over the five-year period, with a declining trend in both ROA and ROE, which indicates inefficiencies in asset and equity management. Furthermore, the economic benefits received by members, both direct and indirect, were significantly impacted by the cooperative’s declining profitability. The findings highlight the need for improved operational efficiency and strategic financial management to optimize benefits for cooperative members.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in sharia cooperatives and how this supports the social function of cooperatives. CSR in sharia cooperatives plays an important role in creating sustainable added value for society, especially with the existence of sharia principles which focus on general welfare. This research uses a qualitative approach with a library study method, collecting data from various sources of accredited national journals and indexed international journals. The research results show that sharia cooperatives implement CSR through various social initiatives such as education, economic empowerment, and support for the welfare of members and communities. Effective implementation of CSR contributes to strengthening the social role of sharia cooperatives, creating a more harmonious relationship between cooperatives and the community, and increasing member loyalty. These findings provide insight that CSR based on sharia values not only fulfills social responsibility but can also strengthen the image of cooperatives and support local economic sustainability goals. Therefore, sharia cooperatives are expected to continue to develop CSR programs that are in line with sharia principles to maximize social and economic impacts for the community.

Abstract

KUD Mandiri Bayongbong operates in various business fields with very fluctuating business development, especially in terms of profitability over the last five years. This research aims to determine the factors of change in cooperative performance from the aspect of business efficiency as measured by Return On Equity (ROE) and member efficiency as measured by ROE' which is adjusted to the benefits received by members, using Du Pont System analysis. The research method used is quantitative descriptive, using secondary data from cooperative documentation supported by interviews. The research results show that changes in Business Efficiency are caused by changes in Net Profit Margin (NPM) and Return on Assets (ROA), ROA is influenced by changes in Total Asset Turn Over (TATO) and Equity Multiplier. The increase in Member Efficiency is also reflected in changes in NPM obtained from residual operating results (SHU) and economic benefits from services, as well as ROA.

Abstract

This dissertation evaluates the performance of the Indonesian Producer Cooperative Center for Tempe Tahu (Puskopti) in West Java and proposes strategic improvements. The study focuses on assessing both financial and non-financial aspects of Puskopti’s operations through a balanced scorecard framework. Despite facing various challenges including limited resources and inadequate innovation, Puskopti demonstrates strong potential in enhancing its services and products to meet evolving consumer demands. Key findings indicate that while financial ratios show satisfactory levels of liquidity and solvability, profitability remains a concern due to inefficient resource allocation. Additionally, customer satisfaction rates are relatively high, although retaining current membership and attracting new ones poses ongoing issues. Furthermore, internal processes require optimization particularly regarding innovative product development and diversified business activities. Lastly, capacity-building efforts among members via regular training sessions could significantly enhance overall efficiency. By addressing these shortcomings strategically, this evaluation aims to bolster Puskopti’s sustainability and reinforce its role in promoting local economic development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the impact of work motivation on employee performance at the Consumer Cooperative Mulia Unit in RSUD Majalaya. Work motivation is recognized as a crucial factor influencing individual productivity and organizational success. A quantitative research methodology was employed, utilizing a questionnaire distributed to 30 respondents, including employees and managers. The collected data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to identify the relationship between work motivation and employee performance. The findings indicate a significant positive relationship between work motivation and employee performance, where factors such as recognition, job satisfaction, job challenges, and support from supervisors play a substantial role in enhancing performance. Employees who feel motivated tend to demonstrate better performance, including achieving targets and completing tasks on time. These results have important implications for the management of Koperasi Konsumen Mulia in designing more effective human resource management strategies. By improving various aspects of work motivation, it is expected that employee performance can be enhanced, ultimately leading to positive outcomes for the organization as a whole. This research recommends the implementation of ongoing training and development programs to further boost work motivation among employees.

Abstract

Kopkar PLN-Sumedang manages various business units, such as savings and loans, waserda, workshops, and others, as well as implementing e-payment financial technology (fintech) applications to serve the needs of its members. However, this cooperative management information system is still less than optimal in providing the information needed by members. The implementation of fintech e-payment is expected to improve the quality of cooperative services, both in business and other activities. This research uses quantitative methods, namely case studies, through questionnaires, observations and literature studies. The research object is the Sumedang Employees Cooperative, with respondents in the form of members, administrators, supervisors, managers and cooperative employees. The research results show that fintech infrastructure meets good criteria to support cooperative business activities. However, the quality of the cooperative management information system is still less than optimal, especially in terms of service and delivery of information to members. The application of fintech is expected to improve management information systems and provide direct benefits for members.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve the economic benefits of cooperative members through the effectiveness and efficiency of asset utilization. The research was conducted at Kopel BULOG Jabar Consumer Cooperative in Bandung City using a case study method, where data were collected and analyzed in depth. The effectiveness of asset utilization was measured using activity ratios, while efficiency was assessed through operational ratios. Direct economic benefits were analyzed from financial and member perspectives, while indirect economic benefits were measured by calculating the remaining operating results for members. The findings revealed that asset utilization was ineffective, as there was a decline in accounts receivable turnover, inventory turnover, fixed asset turnover, and total asset turnover compared to the previous year. Furthermore, asset utilization was also inefficient, as operational ratios remained stable in the last year. Direct economic benefits, such as services from the Savings and Loan Business and Kopel Mart Business, were experienced by cooperative members, although price advantages were not fully realized. However, indirect economic benefits in the form of the remaining operating results for members also decreased compared to the previous year. These results highlight the need for improved strategies in asset utilization to ensure better economic benefits of cooperative members.
