Abstract

This study examines the philosophical values embedded in the traditional martial arts of Longgo and Langga and their role in shaping the character of the Gorontalo community within a contemporary socio-cultural context. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving customary leaders, trainers, and practitioners. The findings reveal that Longgo and Langga function not merely as systems of physical defense but as culturally embedded practices that integrate symbolic meanings, social norms, and spiritual principles. These practices facilitate the internalization of core values, including courage, self-control, discipline, solidarity, and religiosity, through embodied learning and collective experience. The study further identifies that the sustainability of these values is challenged by modernization, generational shifts, and the decline of traditional transmission mechanisms. Strategic efforts such as educational integration, community revitalization, and digital adaptation emerge as critical pathways for sustaining their relevance. This research contributes to the discourse on culture-based character education by offering a contextualized framework that bridges traditional knowledge systems with contemporary pedagogical approaches.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between optimism and academic stress among final-year university students using a quantitative correlational design. The research involved 120 respondents selected through accidental sampling, focusing on students currently engaged in thesis completion, a phase characterized by high academic pressure. Data were collected using Likert-based instruments measuring dispositional optimism and academic stress, both demonstrating acceptable reliability coefficients. The findings reveal a significant negative correlation between optimism and academic stress (r = -0.594, p < 0.01), indicating that higher levels of optimism are associated with lower levels of stress. The coefficient of determination shows that optimism contributes 35.3% to the variance in academic stress, suggesting a meaningful predictive role. The distribution patterns further highlight variability in psychological responses among students, reflecting differences in coping capacity and cognitive appraisal. These results support cognitive and self-regulation theories, emphasizing optimism as a protective psychological factor that enhances resilience and adaptive coping in demanding academic contexts, particularly during the completion of final academic requirements

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ errors in solving multiplication problems using the lattice method within a junior high school context. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved 40 seventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through essay-based online tests designed to capture conceptual, procedural, and operational dimensions of student performance. The findings reveal that students’ errors are predominantly rooted in conceptual misunderstandings rather than procedural inaccuracies, indicating a critical gap between algorithmic execution and conceptual comprehension. Furthermore, students demonstrate inconsistent mathematical representations, suggesting limitations in integrating visual structures with numerical reasoning during problem-solving processes. While the lattice method provides structural support for procedural organization, it does not inherently ensure conceptual clarity or representational accuracy. These results highlight the necessity of instructional strategies that emphasize diagnostic assessment, conceptual reinforcement, and the development of mathematical literacy. The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of error patterns in mathematics learning and offers methodological insights for designing adaptive and cognitively responsive teaching interventions.

Abstract

This study reconstructs the paradigm of moderate Islamic education based on wasathiyah through a qualitative library research approach with a philosophical-critical orientation. The findings reveal that moderate Islamic education represents an integrative educational framework that balances rational, spiritual, and ethical dimensions within a coherent epistemological structure. The Qur’an and Hadith function not only as primary theological sources but also as normative foundations that guide inclusive, tolerant, and adaptive educational practices. The educational objectives emphasize the harmonization of intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence to cultivate individuals with reflective awareness and moral integrity. Core characteristics such as tawassuth (moderation), tasamuh (tolerance), tawazun (balance), i’tidal (justice), musawah (equality), and shura (deliberation) serve as operational principles in shaping socially cohesive and non-extremist educational environments. Furthermore, the implementation of diverse and context-sensitive pedagogical methods strengthens the internalization of moderate values. This study underscores that wasathiyah-based Islamic education provides a strategic framework for fostering a peaceful, pluralistic, and ethically grounded society in contemporary global contexts.

Abstract

This study reconstructs the Islamic educational system in the Aceh Sultanate during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries by employing a non-empirical library research design grounded in critical historiography. The analysis integrates historical, educational, and sociological approaches to examine institutional structures, epistemological foundations, and socio-political relations shaping educational practices. The findings reveal a multilayered system characterized by structured institutional networks, coherent knowledge transmission, and a strong integration between religious authority and political power. Educational practices functioned not only as mechanisms of knowledge dissemination but also as instruments for social reproduction and political legitimation. The curriculum reflected a synthesis of transmitted and rational sciences, supported by dialogical and evaluative pedagogical methods rooted in classical Islamic traditions. Furthermore, the system was embedded within broader socio-economic and intellectual networks, enabling Aceh to emerge as a significant center of Islamic scholarship in Southeast Asia. These findings contribute to contemporary discourse on Islamic education by offering a historically grounded model of integrated, adaptive, and contextually responsive educational systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of Islamization in the Indonesian Archipelago by integrating perspectives on origins, mechanisms of dissemination, and patterns of development within a conceptual-historical analytical framework. This study employs a qualitative, literature-based approach by examining various relevant primary and secondary sources in the historiography of Islam in the Indonesian Archipelago. The research findings indicate that the process of Islamization did not originate from a single region but was the result of multi-source interactions involving Arabs, Indians, Persians, and Chinese through global trade networks. The spread of Islam occurred through various channels such as trade, marriage, Sufism, education, art, and politics that interacted synergistically. The patterns of Islamic development across various regions of the Nusantara exhibit variations influenced by local geographical, social, and political conditions, yet share a common adaptive and accommodative character toward local cultures. These findings affirm that Islam in the Nusantara was formed through a dialogical process that produced a moderate and inclusive religious character, relevant within the context of contemporary multicultural societies.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of Islamic educational reform in the context of the role of Nahdlatul Ulama in Indonesia through a qualitative approach based on a literature review. The focus of the study is on the integration of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah values into the curriculum, institutional transformation in education, and contributions to religious moderation and deradicalization. The analysis indicates that curriculum reform is achieved by integrating pesantren traditions with modern pedagogical approaches that emphasize digital literacy and critical thinking skills. In terms of institutional aspects, decentralization creates space for local innovation, thereby strengthening governance effectiveness and expanding access to education. The role in religious moderation is realized through the internalization of tolerance values, the strengthening of socio-political literacy, and the utilization of social networks and digital technology. The research findings indicate that the renewal of Islamic education within the NU context is adaptive, integrative, and contextual in response to social and global changes. The contribution of this research lies in strengthening an analytical framework that connects the dimensions of curriculum, institutional structure, and religious moderation into a single dynamic unit of contemporary Islamic education.
