Abstract

The phenomenon of digital tabarruj has become a pressing social phenomenon in the modern visual era because it reveals the tension between religious piety and online self-expression. Contemporary tafsir studies attempt to address this issue by recontextualizing the prohibition of tabarruj as a moral ethic for digital culture. This research aims to reinterpret QS. Al-Ahzab/33:33 and QS. An-Nur/24:31 through a combination of Tafsir Al-Maraghi and Fazlur Rahman's Double Movement theory, which methodologically allows for a connection between the normative meaning of the text and the current social context. The research method uses a qualitative approach based on literature studies and digital literature. The research findings indicate that the moral principles of the verse, from the context of the Jahiliyyah era to the digital age, emphasize simplicity, honor, and self-control in adornment. The novelty of this study lies in the application of double-movement hermeneutics to articulate the ethics of Muslim women's adornment in digital space, while also offering theoretical implications for the development of contextual interpretation and practical implications for the formation of digital ethics literacy based on Islamic values of modesty.

Abstract

The Qur'an mentions the term banaan (fingertips) in two different contexts, namely in QS Al-Qiyamah (4) and QS Al-Anfal (12), both of which contain scientific references that are relevant to modern knowledge. This study employed a qualitative method with a literature review approach to analyze the scientific meaning of banaan in both verses. The focus of the study was on the meaning of banaan as a symbol of human identity through fingerprints (QS Al-Qiyamah: 4) and as an object of punishment in the context of warfare (QS Al-Anfal: 12). Primary sources included Tafsir Al-Azhar, Tafsir al-Muyassar, and the works of Zaghlul al-Najjar, which were compared with modern anatomy, biology, and forensic literature. The results of the study indicated that QS Al-Qiyamah (4) affirms Allah's power in creating the unique identity of every human being through fingerprints, while QS Al-Anfal (12) describes the strategic dimension of attacks on vital points during the Battle of Badr. The novelty of this research lay in the integration of two meanings of identity and punishment in a single comparative analysis, which enhances the scientific approach studying of the Qur'an and opens up opportunities for the integration of modern science into Qur’anic exegesis (tafsir) studies.

Abstract

Pregnancy represents a critical phase in Muslim family life, requiring ethical and educational guidance rooted in authentic sources. This study aimed to explore Prophetic educational theory concerning marital intimacy during pregnancy as derived from the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Employing a qualitative library-based research design, the study utilised the HadithSoft application to retrieve ḥadīth from 14 canonical collections. The keyword “pregnancy” guided thematic extraction, and only maqbūl (accepted) narrations were included. Data analysis applied Miles and Huberman’s eleventh strategy—constructing logical chains of evidence—to synthesise normative principles. The findings revealed eight core themes forming a Prophetic framework for marital ethics during pregnancy. These results contributed to Islamic reproductive ethics and offered practical implications for antenatal education, healthcare counselling, and family policy, thereby bridging classical guidance with contemporary bioethical challenges.

Abstract

This study examined the implementation of the tawhid paradigm as an epistemological foundation for integrating science and technology within Islamic education, aiming to address knowledge dichotomy, fragmentation, and curriculum stagnation prevalent in many Islamic educational institutions. Positioned within the framework of Islamic epistemology, this qualitative research adopted a library study design within an interpretative paradigm. Data were obtained from credible scholarly sources such as journal articles, books, and conference papers, and analyzed through descriptive–qualitative content analysis based on the Miles and Huberman model. The findings indicated that the tawhid paradigm underpins three main integration models: interconnection, Islamization of knowledge, and a holistic framework, which collectively strengthen the relationship between academic knowledge, practical expertise, and the development of learners’ spiritual and moral character. This study proposed a synthetic approach emphasizing the systematic and contextual and practical application of these models to foster an ethical and character-driven Islamic scientific civilization. The tawhid paradigm is identified as a strategic foundation for cultivating knowledgeable, ethical individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to the development of a just, civilized, and beneficial society.

Abstract

This article aimed to analyze Shi'a da'wah in Karang Gayam and Blu'uran-Sampang-Madura Villages using the theory of religious moderation from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. This research was important because what is produced from Shi'a da'wah is one of the black records of religious life in Indonesia. The researcher used a qualitative method that is a case study, data was obtained through interviews, then analyzed thematically such as John W. Creswell's steps, while the validity of the data used triangulation of sources. The findings of this study revealed that there are several principles that were neglected in Shi'a da'wah in Karang Gayam and Blu'uran-Sampang Villages, Madura, namely ignoring the principles of justice and balance, the principles of amar makruf and nahi mungkar, the principle of comfort in religion and the principle of graduality. When this principle was disregarded, it is not surprising that da'wah efforts led to conflicts between Sunni communities that are rooted first and Shia groups as immigrant teachings. This research can be a reference material for da'wah practitioners in a multicultural society.

Abstract

This research was important as it addressed the controversial issue of online marriage and divorce from an Islamic legal perspective, a topic that became increasingly relevant with the state's consideration of digitizing marital administration. The aim of this study was to analyze whether online marriage and divorce fulfilled the legal and religious requirements in Islam and how the three major Islamic institutions in Indonesia—Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI)—responded to this practice based on their respective methods of ijtihad. This research employed a qualitative method with a literature-based approach, analyzing fatwas, scholarly texts, and relevant legal sources. The findings revealed distinct differences in perspective: NU considered online marriage invalid due to non-fulfillment of essential conditions such as the requirement of being in one physical assembly, while Muhammadiyah allowed online marriage if all pillars and conditions were fulfilled, including uninterrupted ijab and qabul. MUI adopted a moderate stance, recognizing online marriage under specific conditions including government recognition. In terms of divorce, NU and MUI considered it valid outside the court under certain circumstances, whereas Muhammadiyah required it to go through the court system.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of student management in optimizing superior programs to instill moral values in MTs N 2 Purworejo. The method used in this study is field research with a qualitative approach, which is carried out directly in the MTs N 2 Purworejo environment. Data collection is carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation to ensure the accuracy of this. Data analysis applies the Miles and Huberman model, which includes the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions drawn. The results of the study show that the optimization of student management in forming moral character in MTs N 2 Purworejo has run effectively through four main stages: planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. The planning stage begins with a meeting at the beginning of the year, while the organizing stage includes the preparation of a schedule and the formulation of SOPs regarding adab. The implementation of the program involves all elements of the madrasah through various activities, such as 3S culture (Smile, Salutation, Greeting), joint prayer, tadarus, congregational prayers, as well as literacy and hygiene programs. Evaluations are carried out periodically through monthly meetings, and attitude assessments are included in student report cards. This research has implications for education practitioners in both formal and non-formal education.

Abstract

Islamic boarding school education today faces the challenge of balancing the traditional salaf approach, which emphasizes mastery of classical religious texts, with the khalaf approach, which focuses on formal education, modern knowledge, and digital skills. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the integration of these two educational models at Pondok Pesantren Roudlotul Mubtadiin Balekambang and to evaluate its relevance in the Society 5.0 era. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, which it involved the pesantren's caretaker, head of the madrasah, teachers, daily administrators, and students from various educational levels. The findings indicated that the pesantren successfully integrated both approaches through a unified curriculum combining traditional values and modern knowledge, innovative technology-based learning, and the strengthening of students' character through formal diniyah education and extracurricular activities. This integration model enables students to master both religious knowledge and digital skills without losing their cultural identity, preparing a generation that is morally upright, adaptive, and globally competitive. These findings served as an important reference for transforming pesantren education to remain relevant in the face of contemporary challenges.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of tradition and transformation in Qur’anic education in two types of pesantren in East Java: the traditional (salaf) Langitan pesantren and the modern Al-Muhibbin pesantren. The study is driven by the urgency to critically assess how traditional religious institutions respond to socio-cultural changes that affect the transmission, authority, and meaning of Qur’anic education. The research aims to identify the forms of preservation and shifts in Qur’anic educational practices, while analyzing the ideological framing of modernization within the pesantren context. A qualitative approach is employed, utilizing participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the salaf pesantren consistently maintain classical educational structures based on sanad, ritual, and scholarly authority, whereas the modern pesantren develop adaptive innovations that are not always accommodating of traditional values. The novelty of this study lies in its critical reading of the transformation process, which is often simplistically equated with progress, as well as in its conceptual proposal of a synthesis between value preservation and pedagogical innovation. This research contributes theoretically to Islamic education studies by emphasizing the necessity of epistemic continuity amid educational change.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of the concept of Islamic education in the era of globalization and the young generation, particularly in shaping holistic character. In this context, Islamic education rests upon three core pillars: tarbiyah (nurturing), ta’lim (instruction), and ta’dib (inculcation of proper conduct), each of which carries its own meaning and function, such as educating, maintaining, and guiding. These three concepts are highly relevant to restoring and reinforcing moral and ethical values that are gradually fading among the young generation . The purpose of this research is to establish tarbiyah, ta’lim, and ta’dib as the grand design of character education for young generation so that they may behave with courtesy, ethics, and noble morals within the framework of Islamic education, and become well-prepared to face future challenges. The study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-narrative approach. The main focus lies in character formation and courteous behavior, encompassing stages of data collection, analysis, presentation, and conclusion. The findings indicate that although tarbiyah, ta’lim, and ta’dib possess distinct meanings, all three share a common goal in shaping a holistic form of Islamic education.
