Abstract

Background: Humans fulfill their living needs with static work cycles over long periods of time, such as batik workers. This has an impact on the occurrence of non-specific low back pain (NPB). Physiotherapy technology to reduce pain in non-specific NPB includes warm compression and dynamic stretching. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of warm compression and dynamic stretching in reducing pain in non-specific NPB of batik workers. Method: pre and post-test with control group design. Subjects: 29 subjects, warm compress and dynamic stretching group n=15 (15 women) and control group n=14 (1 man and 13 women). 3 subjects dropped out, namely 2 subjects from the intervention group and 1 subject from the control group. The warm compress intervention was carried out for 15 minutes and dynamic stretching consisted of 8 movements, carried out 3 times a week for 4 weeks. The results of the statistical analysis of the pre-post difference test obtained a value of p=0.000 (warm compress and dynamic stretching group) and the results of the pre-post difference test obtained a value of p=0.824 (control group). The results of the post-test difference between the intervention group and the control group obtained a value of p=0.015. Conclusion: Warm compression and dynamic stretching are effective in reducing pain in non-specific NPB.

Abstract

Background: Functional ankle instability is ankle instability that occurs repeatedly and describes an unstable ankle condition, and experiences functional limitations due to decreased proprioceptive processes, decreased neuromuscular function, and decreased postural control ability. To overcome this disorder, the action that can be given to someone who experiences functional ankle instability is in the form of plyometric exercises. Objective: To find out whether there is an effect of plyometric training on functional ankle instability in taekwondo athletes. Method: This research uses one group pretest and posttest design. The subjects of this research were athletes from the Kertajaya Taekwondo community who had met the inclusion and exclusion criteria of 14 athletes with an age range of 9 to 15 years. Subjects were given treatment in 16 meetings over 6 weeks starting from February to March 2023. The measuring tool used in this research was the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool Youth questionnaire. Results: In this study, to prove that plyometric training has an effect on ankle stability, a hypothesis test was carried out using the Wilcoxon test as part of the non-parametric test, the result was p = 0.01 or p < 0.05, which means there is a significant effect on ankle stability in functional ankle stability of taekwondo athletes. Conclusion: There is an effect of plyometric training on increasing ankle stability in the functional ankle stability of taekwondo athletes

Abstract

Background: Stroke is a major health problem that can cause disability and even death in adults and the elderly. The problems of post-stroke patients is the decreased ability to control the upper limbs which can result in decreased functional abilities. Decreased functional ability of the upper limbs can be treated wtih proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. Objective: to determine the effect of PNF on increasing the functional ability of the upper limbs in post-stroke patients. Method: this study used a randomized pre- and post-test design with control. Subjects that suitable with inclusion crtiteria totaled 17 people and were divided into 2 Groups. Group 1 consisted of 9 subject were given PNF. Group 2 as control consisted of 8 subject given routine hospital therapy. Measurement of functional ability using FMA-UE at the beginning and end of treatment. Results: The results of statistical tests before and after treatment Group 1 obtained a value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05). The results of the hypothesis test after treatment in Group 2 yielded p = 0.038 (p <0.05) and the results of the tests between groups p = 0.000 (p <0.05) Conclusion: Giving PNF intervention in Group 1 has a better effect than Group 2.

Abstract

Background: During the Covid-19 pandemic, people experienced a decrease in daily activities, resulting in shortening of hamstring muscle flexibility. Physiotherapy can help increase the flexibility of the hamstring muscles by providing proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) hold relax. Objective: To determine the effect of PNF hold relax on hamstring muscle flexibility in adolescents. Method: the research method is experimental with a one group pre and post test research design carried out in February-March 2022. The subjects are students at Madrasah Aliah Nawa Kartika, Wonogiri. Using random sampling, 50 subjects were divided into 2 groups, I, numbering 25, and group II, numbering 25. Measuring hamstring muscle flexibility using the active knee extension test (AKET). Results: The results from the treatment group obtained a p value = 0.000. The results in the control group obtained a p value = 0.151. The Man Whitney test between the treatment and control groups resulted in p = 0.000. Conclusion: Providing Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) hold relax has an effect on increasing hamstring muscle flexibility in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: A significant increase in fetal weight and length will occur in the third trimester of pregnancy, it can cause discomfort felt by pregnant women in the pelvic and abdominal area. The appearance of regular contractions also causes pain in pregnant women. Third trimester pregnancy will occur emotional instability in pregnant women, namely the feeling of pleasure welcoming the presence of a baby, but sometimes it also causes anxiety in pregnant women. These things can reduce sleep quality in pregnant women. Objective: to determine the different effect of pregnancy exercise and education on improving the quality of sleep of pregnant women in the third trimester. Method: This study uses quasi experiment two group pre and post test research method design. The subjects consisted of 30 people divided into two groups. Group I was given pregnancy exercise treatment and group 2 received education. Sleep quality measurements were taken before and after treatment using PSQI. Result: Pre-post test difference test using Wilcoxon test in group I & II, in Group I obtained result p = 0.001, and in group II obtained a result of p = 0.001. The difference between group I and II post tests using the Mann-Whitney test obtained p = 0.373 results. Conclusion: there was no significant difference in sleep quality of pregnant women between the two groups.

Abstract

Background : Teenager are very at risk for health problems, one of which is menstrual pain called dysmenorrhea. The occurrence of dysmenorrhea greatly affects daily activities. Dysmenorrhea, if not handled properly it can have an impact on reducing daily activities and quality of life. Objective : To determine the effectiveness of core strengthening exercise against primary dysmenorrhea in teenagers. Methods: This study used one group pre and post test with control design involving 114 subjects who were divided into two groups, namely the treatment group of 59 people and the control group of 55 people. Measurement of the degree of pain of dysmenorrhea is carried out during early and late treatment. The measuring instruments in this study are NRS and WaLLID Score . Result : Based on statistical testing after conducting a core strengthening exercise for 1 month, significant results were obtained with a p-value = 0.000 (p<0,05) which means that there is an influence of core strengthening exercise on the initial and final NRS values. In addition, when compared between the final NRS scores in both groups, better results were obtained in the treatment group than in the control group. Conclusion : The provision of core strengthening exercises affects reducing the degree of dysmenorrhea pain in teenagers.

Abstract

Background : Problems in knee osteoarthritis sufferers include pain in the knee, limited range of motion (LGS) in the knee, decreased muscle strength, stiffness , impaired joint stability, and decreased functional ability. Osteoarthritis sufferers generally experience functional impairment or decreased functional abilities such as getting up from sitting, squatting, going up and down stairs or other activities that put stress on the knees. Objective : To determine the effect of close kinetic chain training and isometric quadriceps muscle training on increasing functional ability in sufferers of knee osteoarthritis . Method : The type of research used is quasi experimental , namely two group pre and post test design . Subjects : The subjects of this research were 20 patients with osteoarthritis knee pain who were divided into 2 groups so that each group consisted of 10 people. The intervention was carried out twice a week for 4 weeks. The measuring tool for this research uses the Womac scale . Measurements were carried out at the beginning and end of the study. Results : Post test difference between group I and group II using an unpaired t-test ( independent sample t-test ), obtained a p value of 0.003 (p0.05), which means there is a difference. It can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the close kinetic chain training group and the isometric quadriceps muscle training group . The value obtained from the different mean test in group I (difference 3.4) is greater than group II (difference 2.6), so in group I, namely the close kinetic chain, has a more effective influence on improving the ability of functional activities in sufferers of knee osteoarthritis . Conclusion : There is a difference in the effect between close kinetic chain training and isometric quadriceps training on increasing functional ability in sufferers of knee osteoarthritis .

Abstract

Background: The shoulder joint or glenohumeral articulation is a ball and socked joint arrangement. This joint moves very widely and is mobile so it is relatively easy to get injured, some injuries to the shoulder joint include tendinitis, bursitis, capculitis and thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS). Some of these injuries will result in shoulder joint pain. The reported prevalence of shoulder pain ranges from 2.4% - 26% in the world. To treat shoulder pain, you can use stabilization exercises, glenohumeral rotation, various movements in the shoulder joint have a big risk of impacting on stabilization disorders in the shoulder joint and shoulder joint pain with stabilization can restore stability to the shoulder joint. Objective: To determine the effect of providing stabilization exercise on increasing functional ability in conditions of shoulder joint pain. Method: This study used one group with control where 30 subjects were divided into a treatment group that was given stabilization exercise consisting of 15 people and a control group that was not given any treatment consisting of 15 people. This research was conducted in August 2023. Shoulder joint pain was measured using SPADI, measurements were taken before and after treatment. Results: Based on the results of statistical tests before and after treatment in the treatment group, the result was p = 0,001 (p<0.05), which means there is a different effect. To prove that these results really had an effect because of the treatment, a post-post difference test was carried out between groups, which resulted in p = 0,006 (p<0.05), which means there was a difference in effect. Conclusion: The research "The Effect of Stabilization Exercise on Functional Ability for Shoulder Joint Pain" has an effect on the functional ability for shoulder joint pain.

Abstract

Background: The most common health problem in convection workers is myogenic LBP. One intervention that can be given is SRMFR. Given SRMFR because the stimulus and pressure given from the skin will cause discomfort in the lower back pain will decrease. Purpose: to determine the effect of SRMFR on reducing myogenic LBP pain. Method: this research design uses an experimental one group pre test – post test design with control group conducted in June-July. The subject is a tailor who meets the inclusion criteria. The subjects numbered 30 people and were divided into 2 groups. The treatment group numbered 15 people given SRMFR and 15 people control group. Pain measurement using QVAS at the beginning and end of the study. Results: Based on the results of pre-post test statistical tests in the treatment group, a value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) was obtained, which means there is an influence. The results of the post-test hypothesis test between the treatment group and the control group obtained a result of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) which means there is an influence. Conclusion: administration of SRMFR has an effect on reducing pain in myogenic LBP.

Abstract

Background: Non-specific low back pain is a complaints of pain that occurs in the lower back for which the cause is not clearly known. Core stability exercise is an exercise to activate the core muscles which can increase spinal stabilization and increase muscle strength so that functional activity increases. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of providing core stability exercise on increasing functional activity in sufferers of non-specific low back pain. Method: The design of this research is one group pre and post-test with control. This research was conducted 3 times a week for 4 weeks with the sample being workers at PT. Iskandartext Solo which has met the inclusion criteria. In this study, it will be grouped into two groups with the measuring instrument used, namely the Oswestry disability index (ODI). Results: The average ODI value before and after treatment was 25.47 and 18.80 and the results of statistical tests using the paired t test showed p=0.000 (p<0.05), this shows that there is an effect of providing core stability exercise on increase in functional activity. Conclusion: There is the influence of givingcore stability exercise towards increasing functional activity in suffererslow back pain non-specific.
