Abstract

Qur’anic Character Education is a process of personality formation based on the noble values of the Qur’an, emphasizing moral, spiritual, and ethical development. This study aims to analyze the role and implementation of Qur’anic character education as an effort to cultivate Islamic values among university students. Using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach through literature review and observation of Islamic higher education practices, this study explores how Qur’anic values are internalized within academic and social settings. The findings reveal that Qur’anic character education significantly contributes to shaping students with integrity, religiosity, and noble morals. Qur’anic values such as honesty (ṣidq), responsibility (mas’ūliyyah), trustworthiness (amānah), and compassion (raḥmah) are internalized through learning processes, habitual activities, and exemplary role models within the university environment. The implementation involves integrating Qur’anic values into the curriculum, religious programs, and leadership practices among lecturers and administrators. Furthermore, Qur’anic character education serves as a means of cultivating Islamic culture reflected in student behavior, academic ethics, and social interactions. Supporting factors include a religious campus environment, institutional policies, and the active role of student Islamic organizations. In contrast, the challenges come from global cultural influences, value secularization, and the lack of integration between general and religious education. Thus, Qur’anic character education is not merely a moral teaching tool but also a cultural strategy to build an Islamic academic ecosystem. This effort is expected to produce Qur’anic-minded students who think with knowledge, act with morality, and contribute to the advancement of Islamic civilization and the nation.

Abstract

This study departs from the common dichotomy in higher education spaces where classrooms are viewed as places for learning, while mosques are limited to worship activities. At Universitas Islam Ibrahimy Banyuwangi (UNIIB), such boundaries become fluid when the mosque veranda is utilized by students as a space for discussion, religious study, and alternative learning. The main question of this study is how this religious space functions as an arena for shaping students’ academic habitus. The significance of this research lies in addressing the limitation of previous studies, which mainly discussed the mosque in terms of worship, general education, or social empowerment, but rarely examined a campus mosque veranda as a site for producing academic habitus through the perspective of Pierre Bourdieu. This research employed a qualitative approach with a critical case study design conducted at UNIIB. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were subsequently analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, with a theoretical reading based on Pierre Bourdieu.. The findings reveal that the mosque veranda at UNIIB has transformed into a socio-intellectual arena shaped by symbolic, cultural, and social capital. In this space, religious studies, intellectual discussions, and formal learning activities take place repeatedly, gradually forming students’ academic habitus in the form of learning ethos, dialogical courage, critical attitudes, and moral discipline. This study contributes to emphasizing the importance of religious spaces as strategic pedagogical resources for strengthening campus academic culture. The limitation of this research lies in its single-case focus, making generalization limited. Therefore, future studies are recommended to compare similar practices in other universities or employ quantitative approaches to measure their impact on students’ achievement and character development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Arabic language teaching and learning in the context of Islamic education by examining strategies, values, and classroom practices. The study is motivated by the need to position Arabic not merely as a linguistic subject, but also as a medium for understanding Islamic teachings, strengthening religious literacy, and shaping students' character. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach through library research and document analysis. Data were collected from books, journal articles, curriculum documents, and relevant studies on Arabic language education and Islamic education. The data were analyzed through content analysis by identifying themes related to teaching strategy, Islamic values, and learning practices. The findings show that the integration of Arabic teaching in Islamic education can be implemented through contextual-thematic strategy, communicative learning, text-based learning, task-based learning, digital media, and reflective assessment. Islamic values are internalized through learning materials, teacher modeling, classroom interaction, learning discipline, honesty in academic work, and the selection of themes related to worship, ethics, knowledge, family, and social responsibility. The study concludes that integrated Arabic learning strengthens four language skills while simultaneously developing Islamic literacy, adab, and religious character.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has transformed learning practices, including Islamic Religious Education (IRE). Teachers are expected to utilize informatics as an innovative instructional strategy to enhance students' religious understanding. This study aims to describe the utilization of informatics as a strategy employed by Islamic Religious Education teachers to improve students' religious understanding at MI Raudlatul Hasan Maron Kulon. The research adopted a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the school principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers, and students. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while source and technique triangulation were employed to ensure data trustworthiness. The findings reveal that teachers integrated various informatics-based learning media, including digital presentations, educational videos, internet resources, educational applications, and online communication platforms to support the learning process. These strategies increased students' learning motivation, active participation, and understanding of religious concepts by presenting learning materials in a more engaging and contextual manner. However, challenges remain regarding technological infrastructure and teachers' digital competencies. Therefore, strengthening teachers' digital literacy and improving technological facilities are essential to optimize informatics-based Islamic Religious Education learning

Abstract

The enactment of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on Electronic System Governance in Child Protection (PP Tunas), effective 28 March 2026, obliges high-risk digital platforms to deactivate the accounts of children under sixteen. This policy has generated a genuine dilemma between protecting children from digital harm and safeguarding their rights to information, participation, and informal learning. This study employs library research using an integrative literature review to examine how Islamic education can mediate this dilemma. Drawing on scholarly literature and policy documents indexed in Scopus, SINTA, ERIC, and DOAJ (2020-2026), and analysing them through thematic synthesis, the study develops three interrelated themes. First, the pro-restriction argument rests on documented digital risks, including cyberbullying, online sexual exploitation, and problematic use associated with mental-health harm. Second, restriction without educative intervention risks sacrificing children's informational rights and may displace, rather than remove, exposure to risk. Third, Islamic education offers an integrative resolution through a proposed Islamic Digital Readiness Framework comprising four tiers: protection, digital literacy, Islamic character formation (adab, amanah, tabayyun, muraqabah), and responsible participation. The study argues that a value-based educational approach is more sustainable than administrative restriction alone, and recommends that PP Tunas be complemented by an Islamic-values-based digital literacy programme involving schools, families, platforms, and the wider community.

Abstract

The principal's leadership occupies a strategic position in cultivating a culture of discipline within educational institutions, yet research specifically examining the principal's leadership role in fostering discipline culture in integrated Islamic schools remains relatively limited. This study aims to analyze the forms of discipline culture and the principal's leadership role in cultivating it at SMP IT Al Binaa. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through passive participant observation, semi-structured interviews with the school principal as the key informant, and documentation study, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, with data validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that discipline culture at SMP IT Al Binaa manifests in three dimensions: Islamic character discipline, attendance and punctuality discipline, and learning discipline. The cultivation of this discipline culture is driven by three principal leadership roles: leading by example, mobilizing the participation of all school elements, and reflective leadership oriented toward continuous improvement. This study offers practical contributions for principals and managers of integrated Islamic educational institutions in understanding the strategic role of leadership as the primary driver of discipline culture. Keywords: discipline culture; integrated Islamic school; leading by example; school principal leadership
