Abstract

Tujuan pengajaran sastra di sekolah dan terutama di perguruan tinggi pada akhirnya harus ditekankan pada kemampuan siswa atau mahasiswa untuk menapresiasi sastra. Untuk mencapai tujuan itu sistem pengajaran tidak cukup hanya secara teoritis dan historis. Kedua hal tersebut memang penting, namun bukan satu-satunya cara yang harus ditempuh. Keduanya barulah merupakan modal dasar untuk mencapai tujuan berikutnya, yaitu daya menapresiasi sastra. Itulah sebabnya dalam pengajaran sastra pemberian bahan yang bersifat membantu atau sarana untuk keperluan apresiasi.Pengajaran sastra yang berkadar apresiatif di samping hal pemilihan bahan tidak semata-mata bersifat teoritis dan historis, harus senantiasa melibatkan mhasiswa untuk berlatih dan bergaul secara langsung dengan karya sastra. Akan tetapi, hal itu belum dilaksanakan sebagaimana mestinya karena berbagai alasan, antara lain kurangnya kemampuan para pengajar sastra itu sendiri

Abstract

The transition from high school to college "forces" freshmen students to lead a brand new life until they eventually manage to adapt to the new environment and all its activities. Freshmen students who failed to adapt themselves to the environment will face various problems including the degradation of well-being which consequently affects their academic achievement and gets worse when it affects their sleep quality. This expost facto research design aims to examine whether sleep quality serves as a mediator between well-being and academic achievement. The participants comprise 231 freshmen students of a public university in Yogyakarta, Indonesia for the academic year 2017. They were collected using multilevel randomization conducted on seven existing University faculties. The data were collected using Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), Life Satisfaction, and Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and were analyzed using multiple regression technique. The results of the analysis demonstrated that sleep quality does not significantly mediate the relationship between well-being and academic achievement of freshmen students. However, this research found that the negative affect which constitutes a component of well-being significantly results in poor sleep quality. Therefore, it is highly recommended to improve well-being through prevention on the development of negative affect on students.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk memahami pentingnya penguasaan teori penerjemahan dalam pembelajaran penerjemahan. Penelitian menggunakan metode etnografi dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, sedang analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif lewat 12 langkah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) teori terjemahan harus dikuasai mahasiswa agar tujuan pembelajaran tercapai dan harus disesuaikan dengan konteks budaya bahasa sumber; (2) berbagai strategiperludigunakan; (3) materi dalam silabus disusun dari tataran yang mudah ke tataran yang sulit; (4) materi pembelajaran dikembangkan dengan media pembelajaran yang dapat memotivasi mahasiswa; (5) dosen dan mahasiswa bekerja sama menciptakan situasi belajar yang kondusif; (6) penggunaan sarana prasarana dan media pembelajaran cukup memadai; (7) evaluasi hasil didasarkan pada keakuratan, kewajaran, dan kejelasan teks. Kata Kunci: teori terjemahan, pembelajaran penerjemahan, etnografiTRANSLATION THEORY AS THE FOUNDATION OF TRANSLATION LEARNING: A QUALITATIVE-ETHNOGRAPHIC STUDYAbstract: The objective of this study is to comprehensively understand the importance of translation theory for learning translation. The study uses qualitative ethnographic method. The data were collected through observation, interview, and documentation, while the analysis was carried out qualitatively through 12 steps. The study demonstrates that: (1) translation theory should be mastered by students to achieve the learning goals and should be adapted to theculturalcontext of the source language, (2) various strategies need to be implemented; (3) materials in the syllabus need to be deliveredfrom the easy levelto thedifficult one, (4) teaching materialsneed to be developedusing appropriatelearning media which can motivate students, (5) conducive environment needs to be created collaboratively by lecturer and students, (6) infrastructure and learning media need to be usedadequately, (7) evaluation needs to be based on accuracy, naturalness, and clarity of the texts.Keywords: translation theory, ethnography

Abstract

Abstract: This study was a causal espouse fact study intended to find out and uncover direct and indirect effects of organizational culture, organizational structure, and job-satisfaction on teachers’ jobperformance. The sample consisting of 143 out of 645 public high school teachers were selected from 10 senior high schools by using the stratified random sampling technique. The teachers were those having teaching experience of at least 10 years and they had been certified as professional teachers and received certification fees continuously, except for guidance and counseling teachers. The findings showed that organizational culture, organizational structure and job-satisfaction had a positive impact on teachers’ job-performance. The direct and indirect effects of organizational culture on job-satisfaction were 21.20%, and 10.00% respectively. The direct and indirect effects of organizational culture on job-performance were 23.20% and 22.80% respectively. The direct effect of organizational structure on job-performance was 29.50%. Meanwhile, the indirect effect of organizational structure on job-performance was not significant. Finally, the direct effect of job-satisfaction on job-performance was 18.60%. Keywords: organizationa culture, organizational structure, job-performance, job-satisfaction DAMPAK BUDAYA ORGANISASI, STRUKTUR ORGANISASI DAN KEPUASAN KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA GURU SMA Abstrak: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kausal espouse facts yang dimaksudkan untuk meng- ungkap efek langsung dan tidak langsung budaya organisasi, struktur organisasi, dan kepuasan kerja terhadap kinerja. Sampel terdiri atas 143 dari 645 guru SMA yang diambil dari 10 SMA di Medan yang diambil dengan teknik stratified random sampling techmiques. Sampel guru paling tidak memiliki pengalaman mengajar 10 tahun dan telah disertifikasi sebagai guru profesional. Data dianalisis dengan teknik regresi dan sebelumnya telah diuji normalitas dan linearitas sebarannya. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budaya organisasi, struktur organisasi dan kepuasan kerja memberi dampak positif terhadap kinerja guru SMA Kota Medan. Pengaruh langsung dan pengaruh tidak langsung budaya organisasi terhadap kepuasan kerja masing-masing 21,20%, dan 10,00%. Efek langsung dan tidak langsung budaya organisasi terhadap kinerja masing-masing 23,20% dan 22.80%. Efek langsung dari struktur organisasi terhadap kinerja ada 29,50%, sedangkan pengaruh tidak langsung dari struktur organisasi terhadap kinerja tidak fignificant. Akhirnya, efek langsung dari kepuasan kerja terhadap kinerja ada 18,60%. Kata Kunci: budaya organisasi, struktur organisasi, kepuasan kerja, kinerja

Abstract

We conducted this study to evaluate the competencies of Form Six geography teachers in achieving the Malaysian Education Quality Standards. We applied a qualitative approach using the observation technique. The respondent observation consisted of three teachers who had more than 10 years of experience teaching Form Six geography and who were working in the areas of Batang Padang district, Perak and Hulu Selangor district, Malaysia. The variables we assessed were practical knowledge, subject-content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, pedagogical technology knowledge, teachers’ teaching of professional behaviours and attitudes, and values modified from the Quality Level Rubric of the Malaysian Education Quality Standards. The observation findings showed that each teacher scored different points, ranging from three to four for the assessed variables. Teachers’ pedagogical technology knowledge needs to be improved as two out of three teachers were still using Teaching Aid Materials such as mahjong paper and marker rather than using computer or other more recent technology due to the lack of infrastructure provided by their schools. In conclusion, Form Six geography teachers in this study have fulfilled the competence of the Malaysian Education Quality Standards by achieving the maximum score.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini berangkat dari pemikiran bahwa peluang yang diberikan pada anak perem- puan untuk melakukan aktivitas publik belum sepenuhnya. Keengganan orang tua memberikan izin kepada anak perempuan menggeluti cabang olahraga berat, masih dipengaruhi oleh konteks masyarakat dan budaya. Masalah pokok dan fokus kajian berkaitan dengan pola pengasuhan anak pada keluarga, klub, dan sekolah dalam menggiring mereka mengambil keputusan sebagai atlet dalam olahraga kompetitif. Sekaitan dengan itu, situs penelitian lapangan dilakukan pada atlet, keluarga, pelatih, dan sekolah, selain ditambah data yang digali dari suami, rekan tempat bekerja, dan lingkungan masyarakat. Observasi partisipasi sebagai upaya memotret data dilakukan peneliti selama enam bulan lama. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pola asuh yang diterapkan pada anak perempuan akan menggiring mereka untuk menggeluti olahraga prestasi sejak kecil dan menumbuhkan kemandirian yang memperkokoh konteks pandangan perempuan terhadap dirinya sebagai sumberdaya manusia yang berkualitas. Kata Kunci: pola asuh, atlit perempuan, perspektif gender AN ANALYSIS OF THE CHILD REARING PRACTICE AND THE MARTIAL ARTS SOCIALIZATION PROCESS VIEWED FROM THE GENDER EQUALITY PERSPECTIVE Abstract: This study started from the idea that girls were not given sufficient opportunities to do public activities. The parents’ reluctance to give permission to their daughters to do heavy sports was influenced by the community’s contexts and culture. The core problem and the focus of this study was related to the child rearing practice in the family, in the club, and in schools by encouraging the girls to make a decision as competitive sports athletes. Accordingly, the field study was focused on the athletes, the family, the coach, and schools. The data were also obtained from husbands, colleagues, and community environment. The researcher conducted participant observation for six months. The findings showed that the child rearing to girls led them to join competitive sports and this had developed their independence which strengthened their own perception on themselves as quality human resources. Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian adalah menemukan efektivitas model pendekatan pembelajaran Kid’sAthletics dan model konvensional terhadap hasil belajar keterampilan lari cepat. Metode penelitian yangdigunakan adalah eksperimen dengan disain penelitian treatment by level 2 x 2. Penelitian dilaksanakandi Sekolah Dasar Prof. Dr. Moestopo Kota Bandung. Data diperoleh lewat tes lari, sedang analisisdata dilakukan dengan teknik statistik analisis varian. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan hal-hal berikut.(1) Secara keseluruhan, model pembelajaran Kid’s Athletics lebih tinggi pengaruhnya daripada modelpembelajaran Konvensional terhadap hasil belajar keterampilan lari cepat. (2) Terdapat interaksi antaramodel pembelajaran dan koordinasi mata tangan kaki terhadap hasil belajar keterampilan lari cepat. (3)Siswa yang memiliki koordinasi mata tangan kaki tinggi, model pembelajaran Kid’s Athletics lebih tinggipengaruhnya dari model pembelajaran konvensional terhadap hasil belajar keterampilan lari cepat. (4)Siswa yang memiliki koordinasi mata tangan kaki rendah, model pembelajaran Kid’s Athletics lebih rendahpengaruhnya dari model pembelajaran konvensional terhadap hasil belajar keterampilan lari cepat.Kata Kunci: konvensional, kid’s athletics, koordinasi, lari cepatTHE OUTCOMES OF SPRINT SKILLSLEARNING(An Experimental Study at Prof. Dr. Moestopo Primary School in Bandung, West Java)Abstract: The purpose of this study is to reveal the effectiveness of the use of Kid’s Athletics andconventional learning approaches in relation to the outcomes of sprint skills learning. The method usedwas an experimental research design treatment by level 2x2. The experiment was conducted at elementaryschools of Prof. Dr Moestopo in Bandung, West Java, in 2013. It was found that: (1) overall, the Kid’sAthletics approach had higher effect on the outcomes of sprint skills learning than that of the conventionallearning model, (2) there was an interaction between the learning model and hand-eye-foot coordination inthe outcomes of sprint skills learning, (3) regarding the students who have high hand-eye-foot coordination,the Kid’s Athletics had higher effect on the outcomes of sprint skills learning than the conventional one,and (4) regarding the students who have low hand-eye-foot coordination, the Kid’s Athletics model hadless effect on the outcomes of sprint skills learning than the conventional one.Keywords: conventional, kid’s athletics, coordination, sprint

Abstract

Di tengah-tengah hidupnya pendapat yang pro dan kontra pelaksanaan pendidikan seks, beberapa sekolah di Indonesia telah mulai merintis pelaksanaan pendidikan seks. Pelaksanaan tersebut ada yang disisipkan pada mata pelajaran tertentu, biologi misalnya ada juga diberikan secara ceralam di luar kelas, misalnya di perkemahan.

Abstract

Student’s perception on the current global citizenship education might have evolved. This study aims to identify the level of knowledge, skills, and attitudes of global citizenship from students’ perceptions. It also examined the relationship between students’ knowledge with the skills and attitudes of global citizenship. This study involved 155 first semester students in a public university in Malaysia. The selection of these respondents is to get their views on the education of global citizenship they received at schools. They were chosen because they had just finished secondary schools, and their experiences were still fresh in memory. They also came from various schools in Malaysia and able to draw on the experience of global citizenship education in Malaysia. This study was quantitative and used a questionnaire as the research instrument. The findings show that the level of knowledge, skills, and attitudes of students towards global citizenship is at a moderate level. The relationship between knowledge, skill, and attitude towards global citizenship is high, positive, and significant. The multiple linear regression analysis showed that skill and attitude are the predictors for the knowledge in the students. This study implies that global citizenship education is important to equip students to understand global issues and become global citizens.
