Abstract

The sandwich generation is a productive age group that is crushed in dual responsibilities, namely caring for parents and children simultaneously, both emotionally and financially. This study aims to determine and analyze the meaning of sacrifice experienced by the sandwich generation in the film Home Sweet Loan using semiotic analysis techniques developed by John Fiske. This movie was chosen because it can illustrate the social reality of Indonesian society, especially in the context of family culture. The analysis found that the sacrifice of Kaluna, the main subject of the research, depicts economic pressure, role conflict in the family, and inequality of social responsibility. This research uses descriptive qualitative method and John Fiske's semiotic analysis, which includes three levels of meaning of reality, representation, and ideology. The scenes in the movie show how the sandwich generation faces the problems of limited space, loss of personal comfort, and having to postpone their desires for family needs. The analysis shows that movies as popular media have the power to shape collective consciousness regarding social issues, especially regarding the injustices faced by the sandwich generation. It is hoped that this research will help media research, especially how movies as popular media reflect social issues and form collective consciousness.

Abstract

This study explores the denotative, connotative, and mythological meanings embedded in the documentary film about Wae Rebo Village using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. The film highlights the life of the indigenous Wae Rebo community in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, which is renowned for its traditional Mbaru Niang houses and its well-preserved ancestral culture. The analysis focuses on scenes that represent elements of culture, communal identity, and the community’s connection with nature and their ancestors. The findings reveal that, on a denotative level, the film depicts daily activities, traditional ceremonies, and distinctive architectural forms. On the connotative level, it reflects values of togetherness, spirituality, and harmony with nature. In the realm of myth, the film presents an image of cultural purity and the idealization of village life untouched by modernity. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of cultural meaning construction in visual media, particularly documentary films, through a semiotic approach.

Abstract

Shine Nature, a company engaged in beauty products and services, is the subject of this research. The aim of this research is to create a web-based e-commerce system that will assist in the digitalization of the company's sales processes. The Waterfall method, software engineering approach, and Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams are used to describe the flow and structure of the system. With this design, features for managing product data, care services, customers, transactions, and sales reports have been integrated and organized in a database. Customers can also order goods and services online through the system. This system makes the business management process more effective, accurate, and usable anytime and anywhere. This system is expected to be a digital solution that helps UMKM enhance their competitiveness in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate and redesign the Qema Farm website, a digital platform operating in the livestock sector and offering investment services through digital media. As user demands have increased, several usability issues have been identified, adversely affecting the overall user experience. An initial evaluation was conducted using the Heuristic Evaluation method, which revealed five usability problems, four categorized as cosmetic issues (severity rating 1) and one as a minor issue (severity rating 2). These findings indicate the need for improvements to enhance user interaction quality. Based on the evaluation results, a redesign process was carried out using the User Experience Lifecycle (UXL) method, encompassing the stages of analysis, design, prototyping, and evaluation. The redesigned interface was then tested through Usability Testing and the System Usability Scale (SUS) involving 6 respondents. Post-redesign evaluation demonstrated a significant improvement in the average usability score, increasing from 2.71 to 4.54 on a 5-point scale, with the highest score observed in the efficiency aspect (4.67). Additionally, the SUS score rose from an average of 57.50, classified as a “D” grade, to an average of 91.25, corresponding to an “A+” grade. These results demonstrate that the application of the UXL method was effective in enhancing both the interface quality and user experience of the Qema Farm website.

Abstract

Technological developments in education have encouraged the use of online learning applications, one of which is PojokCAT, used by prospective students (casis) to prepare for the National Police selection exam. However, the lack of a systematic evaluation of user satisfaction levels has led to questions about the extent to which this application is able to meet learning needs. This study aims to predict the level of satisfaction of PojokCAT application users using the Naïve Bayes algorithm. Data were obtained from a courage questionnaire completed by 384 active respondents using the application. The process analysis included preprocessing, data sharing, model training, and performance classification evaluation. The results showed that the Naïve Bayes algorithm was able to predict satisfaction levels with an accuracy of 91.38%. The precision value reached 86.67%, recall was 90.70%, and AUC was 0.971, indicating excellent classification performance. In general, this indicates that PojokCAT has been able to meet the needs of its users. However, there are still certain aspects that require further improvement. These findings indicate that the Naïve Bayes algorithm is effective for classifying user satisfaction levels in online learning applications.

Abstract

This study proposes the development of a QR Code-based attendance application equipped with offline mode and data synchronization features, using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method. In PT.Bintang Energi Pratama, employee attendance management is a significant challenge, especially when the internet connection is unstable. Therefore, this system is designed to enable efficient attendance recording even without internet access, with data stored locally. When the connection is back available, the system automatically synchronizes data to the central server, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of attendance information. The Rapid Application Development (RAD) method is used in the development of this system to accelerate the design, implementation, and testing processes, and ensure that the required features can be quickly adapted based on user feedback. The results of this study are expected to improve the productivity and efficiency of employee attendance management, as well as provide an effective solution to the challenges of attendance in a dynamic work environment.

Abstract

The spice industry faces significant challenges in maintaining product weight consistency as part of quality assurance and compliance with production standards. A case at PT X revealed that a newly installed filling machine produced deviations from the target weight of 50 grams, with hypothesis testing showing that out of 30 samples, 17 samples fell outside the 95% confidence interval. To mitigate this issue, this study proposes the development of a real-time data-driven Decision Support System (DSS) combined with statistical approaches. The methodology includes two-tailed hypothesis testing to detect weight deviations and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify dominant failure causes based on high Risk Priority Numbers (RPN), such as delayed machine calibration, operator error, and worn-out machine components. These findings serve as the foundation for designing the DSS architecture, which consists of sensor input modules, statistical data processing, risk mapping, and an automated corrective recommendation engine. The system is designed to enable early detection of deviations, accelerate response time to quality issues, and support data-driven decision-making on the production floor. The study concludes that a structured implementation of DSS can be an effective strategy to improve product weight consistency and enhance operational efficiency in spice manufacturing.

Abstract

Information security is a crucial aspect in managing digital government systems, particularly for services that store sensitive data. The e-Journalist website managed by the Bengkalis Regency Communications and Information Technology Office Discominfotik serves as a communication medium between the government and the press, requiring optimal information security to prevent data leaks or misuse. This study aims to evaluate the level of information security in the e-Journalist system using the ISO/IEC 27001 standard. The evaluation was conducted based on the seven main clauses of ISO 27001: Organizational Context, Leadership, Planning, Support, Operation, Evaluation, and Improvement, and used the SSE-CMM maturity level measurement approach. The research method used was a quantitative approach through questionnaire distribution and direct observation. The evaluation results showed an average maturity level score of 2.39, which falls into the Repeatable but Intuitive category, meaning that information security processes have been implemented repeatedly but have not been formally documented.

Abstract

The printing industry is undergoing a significant digital transformation to overcome traditional operational challenges. Conventional printing services often face problems such as long customer queues, miscommunication regarding technical specifications, and high dependency on staff, leading to operational inefficiencies. To address these issues, a self-service kiosk prototype was designed using the Design Thinking method, aimed at automating and simplifying the ordering process. This study conducts a usability analysis of the kiosk prototype to evaluate its effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction. The method used is Usability Testing, employing performance measurement techniques to assess effectiveness and efficiency, and the Questionnaire for User Interface Satisfaction (QUIS) to evaluate user satisfaction. The results of the Usability Testing indicate that the self-service kiosk prototype achieves a high level of effectiveness and efficiency, meeting the established standards. Furthermore, the analysis of user satisfaction through the QUIS questionnaire shows an optimal outcome, suggesting that the designed interface is well-received by users.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology has propelled change in multiple areas, particularly in the trade sector. One instance of this is the growth of online marketplaces for buying and selling, including secondhand clothing items. This study intends to create and execute a website-focused platform for buying and selling secondhand clothing, named “Riloka,” employing the Waterfall software development approach. This application features two categories of user roles: administrators and regular users. Admins possess permissions to oversee the presentation of guides, user information, and the transactions that take place on the platform. In the meantime, regular users can engage in the buying and selling of secondhand clothing items using the available features. The process of developing an application encompasses needs analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance stages, as stated by the Waterfall model. The implementation outcomes indicate that the “Riloka” app operates effectively in facilitating the buying and selling of preloved clothing, offering convenience for both users and admins in fulfilling their roles. This application aims to aid in streamlining the trade of second-hand items in a more organized and digital way.
