Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the influence of Sharia Economic Law on the digitalization of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, with a focus on how Sharia-based regulations can support the digital transformation of these enterprises in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework is grounded in the concept of Sharia economic law, which emphasizes ethical business practices, social justice, and economic inclusivity, all of which are integral to the achievement of SDGs. Literature review: A review of relevant literature reveals that Sharia-based regulations, such as support for Sharia-compliant QRIS and the rise of halal fintech, have significantly facilitated the adoption of digital technology by MSMEs. These initiatives are aligned with SDGs, particularly in fostering economic growth (SDG 8) and promoting innovation (SDG 9). Method: The research uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology, involving the collection and analysis of the latest academic articles, books, and policy reports related to the subject. The main research questions address the role of Sharia economic law in advancing MSME digitalization, the political dynamics influencing these developments, and the challenges and opportunities that emerge from this transformation. Results: The findings indicate that while the digitalization of MSMEs is progressing, there is a need for stronger integration between Sharia regulations and national laws, as well as efforts to improve digital literacy among MSME owners and employees. Additionally, it is important to create incentives to support the adoption of Sharia-based digital technology. Implications: The study's implications include providing policy recommendations for harmonizing regulations and fostering an enabling environment for the digital transformation of MSMEs in Indonesia. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its focus on Sharia economic law as a driver of MSME digitalization in Indonesia, a topic that has not been extensively explored.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the implications of the Congregational Dawn Prayer Movement (Gerakan Subuh Berjamaah) in Palembang City for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the context of sustainable human resource development. Theoretical framework: The study is grounded in a theoretical framework of social action theory and Islamic spiritual empowerment, with particular reference to the role of religion in public policy and community development. Literature review: A review of relevant literature highlights the increasing recognition of religious movements as catalysts for holistic development, yet few studies have addressed their direct connection to SDGs. Methods: Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research utilizes participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as its main data collection techniques. The researcher’s active involvement in the movement provides nuanced insights into its processes and effects. Results: The findings reveal that the Congregational Dawn Prayer Movement, as institutionalized by Palembang Mayor Regulation No. 69 of 2018, extends beyond religious observance. It promotes empowerment across multiple sectors: religious (increased spiritual awareness), social (strengthened community bonds), cultural (revitalization of local Islamic values), economic (micro-business encouragement), political (citizen engagement), and educational (Islamic learning initiatives). Implications: These multidimensional impacts demonstrate how faith-based initiatives can serve as strategic tools for achieving the SDGs, especially in the areas of quality education (SDG 4), reduced inequalities (SDG 10), sustainable communities (SDG 11), and partnerships (SDG 17). Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its integrative analysis of a religious movement through the lens of the SDGs, emphasizing the transformative potential of Islamic social action within local governance frameworks.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic Religious Education in the development of the Islamic Economics curriculum at the Al-Qur’an Al-Ittifaqiah Islamic Religious Institute (IAIQI) Indralaya, Indonesia, as a strategic effort to support SDG 1 on poverty alleviation. Theoretical framework: Theoretically, this study is grounded in problem-based learning (PBL) and the integration of values-based education, which together provide a framework for cultivating not only cognitive competence but also ethical awareness in economic behavior. Literature review: A review of the existing literature reveals a growing concern regarding the mismatch between Islamic Economics education and real-world economic disparities. Previous studies emphasize the importance of aligning curriculum content with contemporary issues such as economic inequality, unemployment, and community empowerment. Methods: Methodologically, this research employs a qualitative case study approach through document analysis, curriculum review, and semi-structured interviews with faculty members, curriculum developers, and policy stakeholders. Results: The findings indicate that effective curriculum development must incorporate real-life community problems, ethical reasoning, and interdisciplinary knowledge. The inclusion of Islamic Religious Education enhances the moral dimension of economic decision-making and contributes to shaping students as agents of socioeconomic transformation. Furthermore, collaboration between universities, local governments, and community institutions emerged as a critical factor in ensuring the curriculum's relevance and impact. Implications: The implications of this study underscore the urgency of transforming Islamic Economics education into a practical tool for achieving social justice and economic empowerment, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in proposing an integrative curriculum model that explicitly links Islamic values, educational theory, and SDG 1, positioning religious education as a catalyst for meaningful poverty alleviation.

Abstract

Objective: This study explores the implementation of entrepreneurial models in three pesantren: Islamic Boarding School ‘A’ in Ngawi, Islamic Boarding School ‘B’ in Sukoharjo, and Islamic Boarding School ‘C’ in Surakarta. Each pesantren employs distinct approaches—namely, the in-house business model, the ‘maklon’ (outsourced production) partnership model, and the contract-based partnership model. Pesantren, as traditional Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, have long served as centers for character-building and moral education. With the advent of global economic challenges, these institutions are tasked with bridging religious teachings and modern economic competencies, particularly through entrepreneurship education. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework of this research integrates Islamic educational philosophy and sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (quality education) and SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth). Literature Review: A literature review reveals that entrepreneurial education contributes significantly to students' readiness for real-world challenges, fostering economic self-reliance while maintaining ethical integrity. Methods: Using a qualitative approach, this study combines case study analysis, interviews, and field observations. Results: The findings indicate that the ‘maklon’ partnership model has the most significant impact, increasing pesantren revenue and equipping Santri with practical skills in business management, marketing, and finance. Additionally, all three models emphasize ethical entrepreneurship rooted in Islamic principles, contributing to SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production). Implications: The implications of this study are profound, suggesting that pesantren can serve as hubs for sustainable economic education that aligns with religious values. By adopting entrepreneurial models, these institutions not only enhance the economic resilience of their students but also contribute to broader societal development. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its exploration of how pesantren-based entrepreneurship education can simultaneously advance religious and economic goals while addressing SDGs. It provides a replicable framework for integrating ethics and entrepreneurship in similar educational contexts.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the Sharia Economic Law perspective on the practice of party equipment rental at 'Aisyiyah Tunas Harapan Orphanage and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting economic growth and social welfare. Renting, known in Islam as Ijarah, is a fundamental concept in Sharia economics that serves as an alternative solution for economic empowerment. The 'Aisyiyah Tunas Harapan Orphanage utilizes party equipment rental as a means to support its operational costs and improve economic sustainability. However, there is a lack of awareness among the orphanage managers and the local community regarding the principles of Sharia Economic Law, raising concerns about the compliance of rental agreements with Islamic teachings. Theoretical framework: This research is grounded in the theoretical framework of Ijarah contracts in Islamic jurisprudence, which stipulates that rental agreements must adhere to transparency, mutual consent, and fairness principles. Literature Review: The literature review examines previous studies on Sharia-based rental agreements and their role in economic sustainability. Methods: This study employs qualitative field research with a normative-descriptive approach. Data sources consist of primary data obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation, and secondary data derived from scholarly works on Islamic economic law. The data analysis method follows an interactive model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion verification. Results: The findings indicate that while the rental mechanism at 'Aisyiyah Tunas Harapan Orphanage functions as an economic support system, there are gaps in contract formulation and compliance with Islamic legal principles. The study suggests that implementing proper Sharia-based rental agreements can enhance financial sustainability and contribute to SDG goals, particularly economic inclusivity and responsible financial practices. Implications: The implications of this study emphasize the need for Sharia-compliant business models within charitable institutions to ensure ethical and sustainable economic activities. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in integrating Islamic economic law with SDG principles in the context of orphanage-based entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the interpretation of QS. Al-Nisa (4): 11 relates to the division of inheritance between men and women by Ibn Katsir as a classical mufasir and Amina Wadud as a contemporary thinker. The purpose of the study is to explore the differences in the interpretation methodologies of the two, identify the factors that influence these differences, and assess their relevance to gender justice within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the aspect of gender equality (SDG 5). Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework of this research refers to the hermeneutics of interpretation, with a focus on text and context. Literature Review: The literature analyzed includes Tafsir Al-Qur'an Al-Adzim by Ibn Katsir and Qur'an and Woman by Amina Wadud, as well as supporting sources that discuss Islamic inheritance law and gender justice issues. Methods: The research method is qualitative with a comparative-analytical approach. The data were systematically analyzed through three stages: methodological differences identification, relevance evaluation, and synthesis of findings. Results: The results of the study show that Ibn Katsir used a textual approach based on asbabun nuzul and the social context of the 7th-century Arab society. He emphasized the 2:1 division of inheritance as a fixed provision that reflects justice based on men's financial responsibility. In contrast, Amina Wadud adopts a contextual approach that considers the dynamics of women's roles in the modern era. He sees the rule as a flexible principle that can be adapted to the specific needs of the family, reflecting justice based on the actual contribution of the heirs. Implications: This research makes a new contribution by integrating classical and contemporary approaches to understanding the Qur'anic text in an adaptive manner to social change. The implication is that it supports a more inclusive dialogue to achieve gender equality and justice in Islamic inheritance law. Novelty: The uniqueness of this study is to enrich the discourse of Islamic law in supporting the achievement of the SDGs, especially in the aspects of social justice and women's empowerment.
