Abstract

Objective: This research aims to evaluate and provide input on the ease of accessing information and making dam (penalty) payments during the Hajj pilgrimage, within the framework of Islamic law and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study is driven by the fact that many pilgrims are still unaware of the types of violations that require dam payment and how to fulfill this obligation properly. This issue is often due to a lack of information, inadequate guidance, and limited awareness among pilgrims. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework is based on Islamic jurisprudence regarding Hajj rituals and penalties (dam), which emphasizes justice, transparency, and individual responsibility. Literature Review: The literature review draws from classical and contemporary sources related to Hajj practices, including official guidelines, banking systems, and digital service innovations aligned with the SDGs, especially Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Methods: The research employs a qualitative method, incorporating firsthand observations from Hajj experiences in 2018 and 2019, as well as several Umrah pilgrimages. These are supported by secondary data from books, official documents, and online resources. Results: The findings reveal that numerous pilgrims unintentionally commit violations during key stages of the Hajj, particularly in the Armuna area (Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina), but do not proceed to pay the dam, primarily due to lack of knowledge or uncertainty about the payment process. Moreover, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has designated certain institutions such as Alrajhi Bank and Hadiyah to facilitate official dam payments. Hadiyah, in particular, offers simplified digital payment systems, making the process more accessible and transparent. Implications: The implications of this study highlight the urgent need for more structured pre-departure education for pilgrims and the integration of digital payment systems within Hajj management policies. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in linking dam payment convenience with the broader mission of the SDGs, promoting ethical, inclusive, and accountable religious practices.

Abstract

The prevalence of an ethical crisis among young people reflects their moral decay. Therefore, it is imperative to teach ethics education to the next generation of this nation. This research aims to investigate the concept of Islamic ethics education for Generation Z from the perspective of one of the renowned Muslim philosophers, Ibn Miskawaih, also known as the Father of Islamic Ethics. The research methodology involved the use of library resources. The primary reference is Ibn Miskawaih's Tahdzib Al Akhlak, with additional sources utilized to assess Islamic ethics and Generation Z. The findings of this study demonstrate that Ibn Miskawaih examines the ethical notion of right and wrong conduct based on logical reasoning. It is imperative to instil Islamic ethics in Generation Z to cultivate virtuous behaviour, courteousness, and sagacity.

Abstract

Radicalism is an issue that is often identified with the religious thoughts and practices of Muslims. Even though the narrative of radicalism is claimed to be a neutral term various scientific studies, media reports, and public opinion tend to direct these radical accusations against certain Islamic understandings and certain Muslims. Using a qualitative descriptive method, this research tries to explain radicalism with various critical perspectives. Therefore, the term radicalism is studied in depth both from the terminology meaning and the development of meaning that occurs in the term radicalism. The results of the study show: that first, radicalism is not an Islamic terminology but a term that emerged from the West to characterize certain groups of Western society. Second, academically, the term radicalism is a neutral term and even tends to be positive. This term becomes negative because it is ridden by political interests. Third, every religion has a radical character, which has principal and basic teachings.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Law Number 16 of 2019 in suppressing early marriage rates in the jurisdiction of the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in Selo District, Boyolali Regency. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach, this research involved field observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that although the law has raised the minimum age for marriage to 19 years for both genders, its implementation has not been effective in reducing early marriage rates in the region. Factors such as lack of religious and cultural understanding, family economic conditions, low education levels, parental concerns, and premarital pregnancies remain the main causes of early marriages. The KUA of Selo District has undertaken various prevention efforts through socialization and cross-sector cooperation but still faces challenges in implementation. This study concludes that a more comprehensive and collaborative approach between government, educational institutions, and communities is needed to enhance the law's effectiveness in suppressing early marriage rates. Recommendations include intensifying educational programs, improving access to education and social services, and strengthening premarital guidance.

Abstract

Objective: This study explores the significance of self-knowledge derived from Islamic teachings as a foundation for ethical environmental stewardship within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research aims to bridge the gap between spiritual awareness and sustainable environmental practices, emphasizing the need for integrating Quranic principles into contemporary ecological discourses. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework is grounded in the Quranic understanding of human nature, which balances spiritual and material dimensions. Literature Review: Key literature highlights the role of Islamic values, such as justice (adl), mercy (rahmah), and stewardship (khilafah), in shaping responsible environmental behaviors. Methods: Using a qualitative approach, the study employs textual analysis of Quranic verses and Hadith, complemented by a review of contemporary scholarly works on Islamic ethics and environmental sustainability. Results: The findings reveal that self-knowledge, encompassing awareness of one's divine purpose and responsibilities, is pivotal in fostering ethical interactions with nature. The research highlights that when materialistic tendencies dominate, they lead to the overexploitation of natural resources. Conversely, nurturing divine attributes promotes practices that align with the goals of environmental conservation and sustainability as envisioned in the SDGs, particularly Goals 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), 13 (Climate Action), and 15 (Life on Land). Implications: The study contributes to the growing discourse on the integration of religious values into global sustainability efforts, presenting a novel perspective on how self-awareness can influence environmental ethics. Its implications are significant for policymakers, educators, and faith-based organizations, offering a framework to inspire community-driven environmental initiatives rooted in Islamic teachings. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its intersectional approach, combining Islamic epistemology, ethical philosophy, and sustainability science to address global environmental challenges. By aligning individual actions with divine principles, the study provides a transformative model for achieving ethical and sustainable development.
