Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of gender on the creative thinking ability of high school science students in the city of Mataram. The sample in this study were class XI students, as many as 32 students consisting of 15 male students and 17 female students. The instrument used to measure students' creative thinking skills is in the form of multiple-choice questions. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is an influence between gender on the ability to think creatively. The effect of gender on students' creative thinking abilities in Chemistry subjects is quite high. Female students can think creatively better than male students.

Abstract

As a language skill, English needs to be learned through clear steps through concept building, modelling, and practising processes. It is necessary, then, to find out an appropriate learning model capable of providing those steps. This paper aimed to reflect the teaching and learning process on the theme of Comparing Things and Animals by applying the Genre Based Approach with the Teaching-Learning Cycles (TLC) Model. This research was conducted at Class VIIIF SMP 14 Mataram, Lombok involving 28 students with 2 observers (a School Principal and an English Teacher). Data were collected using various techniques, such as observation and reflection, assignments and tests, focus group discussions (FGD), and documentation. The data were then analyzed descriptively. From the data analysis and learning reflection, it was concluded that (1) the application of GBA with the TLC Model provided students with gradual experiences of concept building, modelling, and practising both in groups and individually; (2) the application of GBA was also able to accommodate 4C elements in 21st Century Learning Skills; (3) there was an increase in the level of mastery learning from 32.14% with an average of 63.28 on the pre-test to 85.19% with an average of 79.67 on the post-test; (4) both observers provide a positive assessment of the learning process by applying GBA with TLC Model.

Abstract

The background of the holding of this school action research is the lack of discipline of teachers in teaching in the classroom. The purpose of this study was to improve teacher discipline in teaching attendance in class through reward and punishment at SDN 41 / IX, Muaro Jambi Village, Maro Sebo District, Muaro Jambi Regency. The subjects of this school action research were teachers at SDN 41 / IX, Muaro Jambi Village, Maro Sebo District, Muaro Jambi Regency. In this School Action Research (PTS), action was tried in the form of the application of Reward and Punishment for teachers at SDN 41 / IX, Muaro Jambi Village, Maro Sebo District, Muaro Jambi Regency. This research was conducted in two cycles. The results of the research in cycle 1 the discipline of teacher attendance in class less than 10 minutes late reached 28% so that it did not meet the predetermined indicators of 75%. In the second cycle the discipline of teacher attendance in teaching in the classroom less than 10 minutes late reached 86% results, from the results of research and data analysis, in the second cycle, the discipline of teacher attendance in class in the learning process increased and met the predetermined indicators of 75%. It can be concluded that to improve the discipline of teacher attendance in the classroom in learning activities, it can be done by applying Reward and Punishment to the teacher.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low competence of teachers at SDN 05 / IX Jambi Tulo in utilizing media in learning activities. Because of that, this open research was held which aims to help improve the competence of SDN 05 / IX Jambi Tulo teachers in running the media in teaching and learning activities so that students are able to achieve and even meet the minimum completeness criteria of students. As the subject of this school action research, there were 8 teachers from SDN 05 / IX Jambi Tulo, Muaro Jambi Regency. The formulation of the problem of this research is "can the teacher's ability to use learning media at SDN 05 / IX Jambi Tulo be improved through academic supervision by the principal?". The data technique used in this study was to use observation sheets filled in by the supervisor so that the qualitative data was what determined the research that was deployed if the research result indicators were greater than 75. From the observations in cycle 1 the average score of the participants was 73, categorized as yet. successful, because it is still below the performance indicator which is> 75, while in cycle 2 the average overall score of the participants is 85 with good classification. In cycle 2, the research was said to be successful because 85 were above the performance indicators. The success in cycle 2 was due to the media mastery by the participants in cycle I was still not optimal as in cycle 2. There was an increase in understanding of the use of learning media from cycle I to cycle II. The deficiencies in cycle I were improved in cycle II so that it reached a very good level. So it can be said that the academic supervision carried out by the principal in an effort to improve the ability of teachers of SDN 05 / IX Jambi Tulo, Mauro Jambi Regency in using learning media was successful.

Abstract

The background of this research is the low pedagogical competence of teachers in SDN 97 / IX Tanjung Katung, Muaro Jambi Regency. The purpose of this study was to improve the pedagogical competence of grade VI teachers at SDN 97 / IX Tanjung Katung, Muaro Jambi Regency through academic supervision. This type of research used in this research is school action research. The activities in this study consist of the stages of planning the action, implementing the action, observing, and reflecting. Data collection techniques using class observation techniques. The observation instrument used was a teacher ability assessment tool (APKG) in the form of: 1) an instrument for assessing the ability of teachers in developing a syllabus, 2) an instrument for assessing the ability of teachers in developing lesson plans, 3) an instrument for assessing the ability of teachers in implementing learning. The data analysis used was a comparative descriptive analysis technique. The quantitative data obtained were described in the form of words or explanations. After that, data comparisons were carried out to ensure that there was an increase in the ability of teachers to prepare lesson plans and increase the ability of teachers in implementation. The results showed the findings that academic supervision could: a) improve the ability of grade VI teachers in developing syllabus in Tanjung Katung, Muaro Jambi Regency by 41%. b) increasing the ability of class VI teachers in compiling lesson plans in Tanjung Katung, Muaro Jambi Regency by 39%. c) increasing the ability of grade VI teachers in implementing learning in Tanjung Katung, Muaro Jambi Regency by 34%.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the extent to which students' creativity increases in art and culture subject matter by utilizing used goods in class VIII A students of SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi. This research uses classroom action research. This research was conducted at SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi from August to September 2019 in 4 meetings with 2 cycles. The results of this study indicate that in the first cycle there is an increase based on the average percentage of students 'creativity in making art by using used goods by 35.15%, this means that the students' creativity is still low, so that it is continued in cycle II, for improvement. With the results of observations and assessments of students' creativity in making works of art using used goods above, it can be explained that each component has experienced a significant increase, namely the percentage of creativity is mostly above 50%. The average percentage for all components is 64.85% and is in the medium category, while the increase in student creativity in making art by utilizing used goods in each cycle is above 25% with an average increase for all components of 28.91 %.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low ability to retell short stories (short stories) in Indonesian language lessons for class IX.A students of SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi. This study aims to improve the ability to retell short stories in Indonesian language lessons with the discussion method for class IX.A students of SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi. The subjects of this study were all students of class IX.A SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi, totaling 30 people, for the 2018/2019 academic year. The form of research is Classroom Action Research. The research instrument consisted of performance instruments and data collection instruments in the form of teacher activity observation sheets and student activities. Based on the results of the study, the conclusion of this study is to improve the ability to retell short stories (short stories) with the discussion method for students IX.A SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi. The average student on the initial test was categorized as moderate with an average value of 71.00, with a percentage value of 30% completeness or there were 9 students who were declared complete and the remaining 21 students were declared incomplete with a percentage of 70%, In cycle I, the average ability value -The mean of students rose to 78.6 in the medium category, with a percentage value of 53.3% or a total of 16 students, in cycle II the average ability of students was categorized as high with an average score of 82.16 with completeness of 90% , where students' completeness scores have been achieved. The above statement shows that the ability to retell short stories (short stories) with the discussion method of students IX.A SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi can be improved through the discussion method, thus the research hypothesis which reads: "Improved ability to retell short stories (short stories) with discussion method. Students IX.A SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi can be "accepted".

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the teaching skills of prospective physics teacher students during the COVID-19 pandemic through project-based assignments. This type of research is pre-experimental with the design of One Group Pretest and Posttest. The subjects of this study were 9 students who took the Micro Teaching course in Class E in the Academic Year 2019/2020 at the Physics Education Study Program, University of Mataram. The instrument used was a student teaching video evaluation sheet. The basic teaching skills that are assessed consist of 8 components, namely opening lessons, managing classes, providing reinforcement, asking questions, explaining lessons, using instructional media, holding variations, and closing lessons. Scoring scores for each component use a scale of 5, while the percentage value obtained through raw scores divided by a maximum score multiplied by 100. The results of the study showed that the lowest component value of teaching skills at pretest was classroom management skills of 60 and the highest was closing skills at 71, whereas the lowest value of the components of teaching skills at posttest was classroom management skills by 80 and the highest was the use of learning media skills by 91. The average value of students' teaching skills at pre-test was 67 while at posttest was 86. Thus, giving project-based assignments improve the teaching skills of prospective physics teacher students while the COVID-19 pandemic is 19 points, with the highest component of teaching skills being the use of instructional media.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles which aims to find out the increase in critical thinking skills of students of class XI MIA 1 MAN 2 Mataram. The subjects in this study were all students of class XI MIA 1 MAN 2 Mataram, totaling 44 people. Data obtained from tests were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of this study indicate that the critical thinking skills of 30 students in the first cycle were in the high category with an average score of 70.02, while in the second cycle there were 36 students in the high category, and the average score of 75.6 increased their absorption ability from 68 , 18 percent to 81.8 percent. This study concludes that there is an increase in students' critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes in class XI MIA 1 MAN 2 Mataram through the guided inquiry method.

Abstract

Abstract Teachers are a key element that plays an important role in formal education. Its existence is a determinant of the success of students and the quality of education. During the covid-19 pandemic, teachers are required to be able to demonstrate the competence of teachers in guiding, training, educating, and teaching their students. In accordance with the policy set by the government, it is mandatory for all schools to conduct online learning systems, therefore teachers and students must work together in order for the purpose of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic to be achieved. Teachers must continue to perform their duties in teaching, training, encouraging creativity even without having to come face-to-face with students. in this case, it is necessary for teachers to support the learning process online (online). This article aims to describe the role of teachers in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used in this study is the library study method. The results showed that teachers played an important role in the learning process, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers need to be able to motivate students to stay passionate about learning. Keywords: Teacher Roles, Online Learning, COVID-19 Abstrak Guru merupakan elemen utama yang memiliki peran penting dalam pendidikan formal. Keberadaannya menjadi penentu keberhasilan peserta didik dan kualitas pendidikan. Pada masa pandemi Covid 19 saat ini guru dituntut harus mampu menunjukkan kompetensi guru dalam membimbing, melatih, mendidik, dan mengajar siswanya. Sesuai dengan kebijakan yang ditetapkan oleh pemerintah yaitu diwajibkan untuk seluruh sekolah melakukan sistem pembelajaran secara daring, oleh karenanya guru maupun siswa harus sama-sama bekerja sama agar tujuan dari pembelajaran selama pandemic COVID-19 tercapai. Guru harus tetap menjalankan tugasnya dalam mengajar, melatih, mendorong kreativitas meskipun tanpa harus bertatap muka secara langsung dengan siswa. dalam hal ini diperlukan peran guru dalam menunjang proses pembelajaran secara daring (dalam jaringan). Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peranan guru dalam pembelajaran daring dimasa pandemi COVID-19. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah metode studi pustaka. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa guru memiliki peranan penting dalam proses pembelajaran khususnya pada masa pandemi COVID-19. Guru harus bisa memotivasi siswa agar tetap semangat dalam belajar.
