Abstract

This research examines the impact of the digital revolution on religious practices and experiences, focusing on the transformation of individual interactions with beliefs through digital technology. A qualitative approach was used in a case study of a number of religious communities in Indonesia that actively use social media. The data was obtained through in-depth interviews with religious leaders and congregation members, as well as content analysis of their uploads and activities on social media. The results of the study show that digital technology expands the dissemination of religious information, forms virtual communities, and changes the pattern of worship and ritual implementation. However, the study also found challenges, such as the spread of false information, polarization, and commercialization of religious teachings. Therefore, strong digital literacy and the development of inclusive and responsible digital platforms are indispensable in supporting religious diversity in the digital era

Abstract

The management of Integrated Islamic Schools (SIT) faces significant challenges and opportunities in the context of modern education. The main challenges include high operational costs, strict government regulations, and changing social dynamics. In addition, the integration of general and religious curricula is often a complex issue that affects the quality of education. However, SIT also offers interesting opportunities, such as the increasing public interest in integrated education that emphasizes Islamic values. This holistic education concept is increasingly becoming a priority, especially among parents who want comprehensive education for their children. By implementing total quality management, SIT can increase competitiveness and attract more students, while also contributing positively to the development of students' character and morals

Abstract

The phenomenon of identity disorientation among Muslim students in the digital era has become a serious challenge in religious education, especially for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers who play a strategic role in maintaining the continuity of Islamic values. This study uses a qualitative approach with conceptual analysis and interviews with a PAI teacher in Depok District, Cirebon Regency, to explore strategies used in dealing with the Islamic identity crisis of students. The results of the study show two main effective strategies, namely the exemplary approach and the integration of Islamic values with the digital context and the daily lives of students. This strategy has a positive impact on strengthening students' religious character and spiritual understanding in the midst of socio-cultural changes. This research is important to strengthen the function of PAI as a media of value inheritance as well as an agent of social transformation in shaping the identity of the younger generation of Muslims in a relevant and contextual manner.

Abstract

This research aims to actualize the existence of the tarekat on the island of Java from a historical perspective and analyze its application in universities. The research uses a qualitative approach with locations in Central Java. Participants consisted of two mursyid of the tarekat and ten practitioners of the tarekat. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The focus of the research includes two main themes: the existence of the tarekat on the island of Java in the period 2000–2020 and the application of the values of the tarekat in universities in Indonesia. The results of the study show that the tarekat in Java continues to exist despite the technological and cultural advances of millennials. The sustainability of the tarekat is supported by the spirit of nationalism instilled by the mursyids, a simple organizational management system, and a strong tradition of yellow book literacy. Meanwhile, the application of tarekat values in higher education is reflected in three main aspects, namely strengthening nationalism, implementing effective organizational management, and developing a literacy culture. Thus, the tarekat not only survives as a spiritual practice, but also contributes to the formation of national character and values in the context of higher education in Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to dissect the Book of Rawā’i al-Bayān fi Tafsīr āyāt al-Ahkām by Sheikh ‘Ali al-Shābunī. Specifically, this study explains a) Biography of the Author of the Book “Rawāi’u al-Bayān” Sheikh ‘Ali al-Shabunī b) Method and style of interpretation of “Rawāi’u al-Bayān, c) 10 steps in exploring the content of legal verses in the Tafsir “Rawāi’u al-Bayān. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research techniques. The method used is content analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that this interpretation is quite unique because it combines 4 methods at once, namely: the tahlilī method (analysis), ijmālī (global meaning), muqâran (comparison) and maudhū’ī (thematic), although the tahlilī method is more dominant. Another uniqueness is that this interpretation uses a ten-step approach in explaining each theme of the verse, making this interpretation more interesting. By carrying out the interpretation of legal verses, al-Shābunī focuses more on the discussion of the legal aspect. Of the ten steps in explaining each theme of the verse, the study of legal content dominates the discussion.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal fundamental issues regarding views on the authenticity of hadith, based on the historical context of hadith, particularly in relation to the Prophet’s statement about lying upon him. This discussion is essential for capturing the contemporary scholarly debate surrounding hadith authenticity, where arguments often rely on analysis of the hadith concerning falsehoods attributed to the Prophet. This debate serves as a crucial focal point in arguments about hadith authenticity, which has significant implications for the discourse on the reliability of hadith as a valid source of guidance in Islam. This research employs a qualitative approach through a literature study. The study focuses on the thoughts of Ahmad Amin and Mustafa Sibai, highlighting their critical arguments on the issue. The research finds that Ahmad Amin suggests, albeit tentatively, the possibility of hadith fabrication during the Prophet's time, based on the hadith man kazzaba alayya (“whoever lies about me”). The credibility of the Prophet’s Companions is also a central theme, linking to the potential for hadith fabrication in the Prophet’s era. Additionally, post-Prophetic hadith fabrication is another important topic discussed, demonstrating Ahmad Amin's consistent stance on the critique of hadith authenticity. Abstract

Sebagai lembaga yang berakar pada visi keilmuan Prof. Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas, ISTAC (International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization) memiliki komitmen dalam pengembangan khazanah intelektual islam yang berlandaskan ilmu dan adab, tidak hanya melalui buku-buku maupun manuskrip fisik namun juga dalam bentuk digitalisasi. Digitalisasi terhadap manuskrip kuno menjadi kebutuhan penting, sebab manuskrip tidak hanya merupakan peninggalan masa lampau, tetapi juga menyimpan data, wawasan, dan referensi penting bagi rekonstruksi keilmuan yang belum sepenuhnya diketahui. Fokus penelitian ini diarahkan pada peran perpustakaan Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas dalam mengelola koleksi manuskrip klasik dan mendokumentasikannya dalam bentuk digital sebagai upaya mempertahankan tradisi intelektual islam di era global. Metode yang digunakan kualitafif-lapangan dengan data utama diperoleh dari hasil observasi, wawancara mendalam dengan pustakawan ISTAC. Wawancara ini diperkuat dengan tinjauan literatur dari buku, jurnal ilmiah, dan dokumen relevan yang membahas topik terkait.

Abstract

Cases of juvenile delinquency such as the use of offensive language, truancy, and disrespectful behavior toward teachers are frequently encountered at SMP Negeri 2 Singkep. Addressing these issues requires serious attention from parents, the community, and particularly the school. Within the school context, Islamic education teachers hold a pivotal role in instilling religious values and fostering students’ moral and character development. This study employs a qualitative fieldwork approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal: (1) the contributing factors to juvenile delinquency include family conditions, environmental influences, and social media exposure; and (2) the roles of Islamic education teachers in preventing delinquency encompass five dimensions—educator, mentor, motivator, role model, and facilitator of religious activities. These results highlight the strategic importance of Islamic education teachers in guiding students toward positive behavior and moral integrity.

Abstract

Religion is viewed as a divine guide for humanity, aiming to create prosperity in this world and salvation in the hereafter. However, the reality of religious practice often diverges significantly from its ideal teachings, causing religion to sometimes appear as a source of conflict rather than peace. This article analyzes the concept of Tawassut (moderation) upheld by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) not merely as a moral encouragement but as a strong cognitive model. Through systematic literature review, the study reveals that Tawassut functions as a cognitive filter rejecting extremism, followed by a cognitive adaptation mechanism based on Tawazun (balance) that builds intellectual resilience in weighing diverse religious and social perspectives. The final stage manifests in a moderated identity through Tasamuh (tolerance) and I'tidal (justice). This cognitive model serves as an intellectual immunity system effectively neutralizing radical thinking structures while maintaining equilibrium between tradition and modernity, creed and reality, and religion and nationality. The resultant identity is inclusive, adaptive, and progressive, deeply rooted in Indonesian cultural contexts. Thus, the model offers not only theological and philosophical foundations but a practical strategy for Indonesian Muslims to live harmoniously in a pluralistic society and prevent religious conflicts. The cognitive model of Tawassut has vital implications for strengthening religious moderation in the era of globalization and information disruption.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk merefleksikan kontribusi mata kuliah filsafat ilmu-ilmu keislaman yang menjadi mata kuliah wajib program doktoral Studi Islam di UIN Sunan Kalijaga sebagai salah satu contoh penyediaan basis dan kerangka berpikir dalam rangka pengembangan ilmu-ilmu keislaman, khususnya di Indonesia. Studi ini merupakan studi kualitatif yang berfokus pada kontribusi mata kuliah filsafat ilmu-ilmu keislaman pada diskusi pengembangan keilmuan (contribution to knowledge) dalam perspektif progress of science James Peirce. Studi ini menunjukkan beberapa kesimpulan. Pertama, mata kuliah ini berkontribusi secara signifikan pada 3 hal, yaitu peletakan garis demarkasi dalam studi Islam, progress of science, dan model pembacaan baru terhadap wahyu. Kedua, ketiga kerangka tersebut membuat ilmuwan muslim tidak perlu menutup mata akan ilmu-ilmu sosial yang berasal dari tradisi Barat. Pemisahan yang jelas antara studi tentang doktrin keagamaan Islam dan studi tentang pemikiran Islam membuat para ilmuwan tidak perlu takut terkontaminasi worldview barat yang lahir dari epistemologi sekuler. Terakhir, Perangkat metodologi yang lahir dari peradaban Barat, tidak serta merta ditolak dalam pengembangan studi Islam. Perlu ada usaha resepsi kritis dalam mengadopsi cara pandang tersebut untuk mengembangan studi keislaman.
