Abstract

General Background: Character education has become a pivotal concern in modern pedagogy, particularly in religious and moral subjects. Specific Background: One approach gaining attention is the role playing model, which engages students actively in moral reasoning and character development. Knowledge Gap: However, empirical studies that analyze its application specifically within the context of gratitude in Islamic character education remain limited. Aims: This study aims to analyze the implementation of the role playing model in shaping character education related to gratitude in Akidah Akhlak learning at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Results: Using a qualitative phenomenological approach with observation, interviews, and documentation, findings indicate that role playing facilitates the internalization of feelings, values, and perspectives. The structured process—beginning with prayer and material explanation, followed by group division, script discussions, dramatization, and meaning reflection—promotes character traits such as gratitude, sincerity, patience, care, and responsibility. Novelty: This study highlights how direct student engagement through dramatization uniquely fosters affective and behavioral dimensions of character. Implications: Despite some challenges (e.g., student shyness, classroom dynamics), the method demonstrates strong potential in cultivating religious values, suggesting broader applicability in moral education contexts. Highlights: Promotes internalization of religious values through active participation. Enhances moral traits like gratitude, sincerity, and responsibility. Uses dramatization to foster empathy and character understanding. Keywords: Role Playing, Character Education, Gratitude, Akidah Akhlak, Islamic Learning

Abstract

General Background: Tonsillitis, a common pediatric illness, is typically self-limiting and primarily viral in origin, though bacterial forms—especially those caused by group A streptococcus—can result in serious complications. Specific Background: Nursing students, as future frontline healthcare providers, require foundational understanding and attitudes toward pediatric infections like tonsillitis to promote effective patient education and clinical decision-making. Knowledge Gap: Limited studies have assessed the adequacy of nursing students’ knowledge and attitudes regarding tonsillitis in children, particularly in Middle Eastern academic contexts. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge and attitudes of nursing students at the University of Basrah regarding pediatric tonsillitis. Results: Among 150 students surveyed, most demonstrated moderate knowledge and attitudes toward the condition, with significant gaps in understanding its infectious nature and complications. Novelty: This study highlights underexplored misconceptions among nursing students—such as low awareness of the infectious potential and complications of tonsillitis—despite relatively high awareness of its immunological and symptomatic aspects. Implications: Targeted educational interventions are necessary to address specific knowledge deficiencies and reinforce accurate clinical perspectives, thereby improving early detection, appropriate referral, and rational antibiotic use in pediatric tonsillitis care. HIghlight : Moderate Understanding: Most nursing students demonstrated moderate knowledge and attitudes regarding tonsillitis in children. Gender Distribution: A higher percentage of female students (66%) participated compared to males (34%). Misconceptions Noted: Only 17.3% correctly identified tonsillitis as infectious, highlighting a crucial gap in understanding. Keywords: Knowledge, Attitude, Tonsillitis, Children, Nursing Students

Abstract

General Background: The reform of Indonesia’s criminal law has culminated in the enactment of Undang-Undang Nomor 1 Tahun 2023, which introduces a new Criminal Code (KUHP) reflective of both domestic values and international principles. Specific Background: Indonesia’s previous criminal legislation, a legacy of Dutch colonial law, often failed to accommodate the nation’s socio-cultural diversity and evolving legal landscape. Knowledge Gap: Despite its significance, limited scholarly analysis has been conducted on how the new KUHP integrates local customary norms with universal legal principles. Aims: This study aims to analyze the integration of local and universal values within the new KUHP and assess their implications for Indonesia’s legal identity and justice system. Results: The findings reveal that the KUHP explicitly accommodates indigenous norms within its judicial framework, enabling more substantive justice. It also strengthens Indonesia’s legal stance globally by upholding universal principles such as legality and territoriality. Novelty: The research highlights the dual harmonization of normative systems—customary and international—in a unified penal code, a distinctive move in contemporary legal reform. Implications: This integration fosters a more inclusive and culturally responsive legal system, reinforcing Indonesia’s sovereign legal identity while aligning with international legal standards. Highlights: Reflects synergy between indigenous norms and international legal standards. Enhances legal relevance to Indonesian cultural context. Strengthens Indonesia’s role in transnational legal frameworks. Keywords: Criminal Law Reform, Indonesian Legal System, Local Values, Universal Principles, KUHP 2023

Abstract

General Background: The recognition of land rights in Indonesia reflects a complex legal landscape marked by the coexistence of national land law and indigenous customary (ulayat) rights. Specific Background: This dualism often leads to legal uncertainty and conflicts, particularly in areas where indigenous land tenure systems remain active. Knowledge Gap: While existing studies acknowledge the presence of legal dualism, few explore it through the lens of dignified justice rooted in Pancasila values. Aims: This research aims to analyze the dualism of land rights recognition in Indonesia through the perspective of dignified justice, which upholds human dignity, balanced rights and obligations, and non-discriminatory legal treatment. Results: The findings reveal that dignified justice requires national land law to not merely coexist with, but harmonize and complement, ulayat rights to protect indigenous socio-cultural values while ensuring legal certainty. Novelty: The study introduces a framework wherein the UUPA (Basic Agrarian Law) serves as a foundational bridge to align state sovereignty over land with the recognition of living customary laws. Implications: Future regulatory frameworks must promote structural and administrative harmony, ensuring equitable land governance that respects cultural identity without compromising national legal unity. Highlights: Balances national legal certainty with indigenous land rights. Promotes harmony between customary and state law. Emphasizes justice based on Pancasila values. Keywords: Legal Dualism, Land Rights, Dignified Justice
