Abstract

General Background: The rapid growth of digital technology has transformed financial systems worldwide, with students increasingly reliant on digital payment platforms such as e-wallets. Specific Background: While these innovations offer convenience, they may also encourage impulsive spending, raising concerns about students’ saving behavior. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies have shown inconsistent findings regarding the role of financial literacy, lifestyle, and digital payment use in shaping saving habits, highlighting the need for further investigation. Aims: This study examines the influence of financial literacy, lifestyle, and e-wallet usage on students’ saving behavior at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur. Results: Using survey data from 300 respondents and SmartPLS analysis, the findings reveal that financial literacy, lifestyle, and e-wallet usage each have a positive and significant effect on saving behavior, with financial literacy contributing the strongest influence. Collectively, these variables explain 45.8% of the variation in saving behavior. Novelty: This study uniquely demonstrates that when managed wisely, lifestyle choices and digital financial tools, often seen as consumption drivers, can in fact reinforce positive financial habits. Implications: The findings underscore the importance of strengthening financial literacy education and promoting mindful technology use as strategic approaches to foster sustainable financial resilience among students. Highlights: Financial literacy has the strongest influence on saving behavior. Lifestyle management supports positive saving habits. E-wallets can aid saving when used wisely. Abstract

General Background: Motivation is a cornerstone of second language acquisition (SLA), shaping learners’ engagement and communicative competence. Specific Background: In contexts like Iraq, where English is taught as a foreign language (EFL) with limited authentic exposure, extrinsic motives—such as exams and societal expectations—often outweigh intrinsic interest, potentially constraining learners’ willingness to communicate (WTC). Knowledge Gap: While studies in Asian and Western EFL/ESL settings have explored motivation–WTC links, little empirical research addresses pre-intermediate Iraqi learners, a group particularly vulnerable to anxiety and rote-based instruction. Aims: This study investigated which type of motivation dominates among Iraqi EFL students, how motivation relates to WTC, and which orientation predicts it most strongly. Results: Data from 40 female learners in Maysan revealed extrinsic motivation dominance (M = 29.03) over intrinsic (M = 19.93), yet intrinsic showed a stronger correlation with WTC (r = .36, p < .01) and was the only significant predictor (β = .33, p < .001), explaining 10.17% of variance. Novelty: These findings challenge assumptions that extrinsic pressures drive communication in EFL, highlighting instead intrinsic motivation’s centrality. Implications: Pedagogically, fostering intrinsic interest through autonomy-supportive, communicative tasks may enhance WTC and address cultural-educational constraints in Iraq. Highlights: Intrinsic motivation is a stronger predictor of WTC than extrinsic factors. Iraqi EFL learners show dominance of extrinsic over intrinsic motivation. Pedagogical focus on intrinsic interest can enhance communicative competence. Abstract

General Background: Preschool children are in a critical developmental phase where social and emotional regulation shape future adjustment. Specific Background: Maladaptive behavior in early childhood education settings may disrupt learning processes and social interaction, while teachers’ teaching efficacy reflects their confidence in managing classroom challenges. Knowledge Gap: Although teacher self-efficacy has been widely examined, limited empirical evidence specifically analyzes its relationship with maladaptive behavior among preschool children in Indonesian Islamic kindergarten contexts. Aims: This study aims to examine the relationship between teaching efficacy and maladaptive behavior in preschool children at KB/TK Aisyiyah in Sidoarjo. Results: Using a quantitative correlational design with 200 teachers, data were collected through the Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. Spearman’s rho analysis revealed a significant negative correlation (r = -0.201, p = 0.004), indicating that higher teaching efficacy is associated with lower maladaptive behavior, although the contribution was relatively small (4.6%). Novelty: The study provides empirical evidence linking teaching efficacy and maladaptive behavior within a specific preschool institutional network in Indonesia. Implications: Strengthening teacher efficacy through professional development programs may support better behavioral management and promote healthier classroom environments in early childhood education. Keywords: Teaching Efficacy, Maladaptive Behavior, Preschool Children, Early Childhood Education, Teacher Self-Efficacy Key Findings Highlights: Significant negative correlation identified between educator confidence and behavioral difficulties. Majority of participants demonstrated moderate levels across both measured constructs. Statistical contribution indicates limited yet meaningful association within classroom contexts.

Abstract

Background: The rapid expansion of digital technologies has transformed economic and social systems globally, with the digital economy seen as a driver of sustainable human development (SHD). Specific Background: Iraq, despite heavy investment in ICT infrastructure since 2003, has experienced stagnant Human Development Index (HDI) growth and a declining Human Capital Index (HCI), raising questions about the effectiveness of its digitalization. Knowledge Gap: While macroeconomic studies often explore technology–growth links, limited research examines how digital adoption affects human development in fragile, resource-based economies, particularly regarding adjustment lags and skill deficits. Aims: This study investigates the relationship between digital economy indicators (internet subscriptions, mobile usage, and e-government services) and SHD in Iraq from 2004–2022, using autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) and error correction model (ECM) approaches. Results: Findings show that internet expansion and mobile penetration positively influence HDI, whereas weak human capital and institutional inefficiencies undermine digital dividends. Adjustment to equilibrium takes approximately 3.2 years, reflecting delayed impacts of digital shocks. Novelty: This research provides the first empirical analysis of Iraq’s digital economy–HDI nexus using high-frequency data, introducing the Digital Absorptive Capacity framework. Implications: Policymakers must shift from infrastructure-centric to human-centered strategies, emphasizing digital literacy, education reform, and institutional transparency to harness digitalization for inclusive development.Highlight : Internet and mobile penetration contribute positively to human development. Lack of digital skills limits the benefits of the digital economy. Digital education reforms and governance integrity are key for sustainability.
