The Journal Counseling and Humanistic Studies (JCHS) aims to publish research results on counseling studies and humanistic studies. It is hoped that this journal can become a forum for advancing the understanding and application of a human-centered approach in helping individuals and society face the various challenges of modern life. The Journal of Counseling and Humanistic Studies is committed to presenting high-quality articles that can provide new insights and encourage constructive dialogue within the counseling and humanistic studies community. The Journal of Counseling and Humanistic Studies aims to publish research results on counseling studies and humanistic studies. The journal intends to transmit, enrich, and develop research, theory, practice, and policy in educational counseling and humanistic studies. This journal encompasses the applications of learning media development, pastoral counseling, multicultural counseling, mental health issues, Indigenous counseling, and gender studies.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan Fear of Missing Out dengan perilaku Phubbing pada mahasiswa UNY angkatan 2021 pengguna media sosial TikTok. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan desain korelasional. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 385 orang yang diperoleh menggunakan teknik Proportionate Cluster Random Sampling. Pengambilan data dalam penelitian ini berupa kuesioner melalui google form. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah skala Fear of Missing Out dengan nilai Cronbach’s Alpha sebesar 0,927 dan Skala Phubbing dengan nilai Cronbach’s Alpha sebesar 0,909. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi pearson product moment. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara Fear of Missing Out dengan perilaku Phubbing pada mahasiswa UNY angkatan 2021 pengguna media sosial TikTok, ditunjukan nilai signifikansi 0,000 0,05. Kesimpulannya individu dengan tingkat Fear of Missing Out tinggi cenderung menunjukkan perilaku Phubbing karena ketidakmampuan mereka untuk melepaskan diri dari keterlibatan berlebihan dalam dunia digital.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the internalization of the spiritual values of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of Mercy (SCMM) among junior sisters. The respondents to this study were four (4) junior SCMM sisters serving in the Santa Sesilia Community in Yogyakarta. The type of research used to address this issue was qualitative research. The data collection methods employed were in-depth interviews and observation of non-verbal behaviour. The research instrument consisted of interview guideline questions. Information was gathered from in-depth interviews with each research respondent, recorded using a sound recorder, and then compiled into verbatim transcripts. The results of the study indicate that the four (4) research respondents have a clear understanding of spirituality as an important aspect of human life. They perceive it as a search for meaning, purpose, and a personal connection with something greater than themselves, involving the authentic development of personal values and needs. The respondents have a deep understanding of the spiritual values within the context of the SCMM congregation, which include compassion, simplicity, humility, and love.

Abstract

Maraknya fenomena hubungan satu arah dengan selebriti favorit membuat peneliti mengembangkan alat ukur yang dapat mengukur konstruk hubungan parasosial, khususnya di media sosial. Alat Ukur Hubungan Parasosial ini memiliki 24 item yang terdiri dari dua dimensi. Pengujian psikometri dilakukan dengan mengujikan alat ukur kepada 467 partisipan penggemar K-Pop. Reliabilitas tes diuji dengan metode cronbach’s alpha, validitas konstruk tes diuji menggunakan teknik validitas konvergen yang mengorelasikan tes dengan alat ukur Celebrity Attitude Scale dengan metode pearson correlation, analisis item diuji dengan metode corrected item-total correlation, dan norma tes menggunakan norm-referenced group jenis within-group norm dengan metode standard score. Pada pengujian analisis item ditemukan bahwa seluruh item mampu membedakan individu dengan tingkatan konstruk tinggi dan rendah. Hasil pengujian alat ukur setelah analisis item integratif menunjukkan bahwa alat ukur memiliki reliabilitas dan validitas yang baik, baik secara keseluruhan maupun per dimensi. Persebaran data untuk keseluruhan alat ukur dan dimensi emotional connection terdistribusi normal, sedangkan untuk dimensi analogy to social relationships terdistribusi condong ke kiri (positively-skewed). Alat ukur ini memiliki keunggulan pada beberapa aspek daripada alat ukur serupa sebelumnya, di mana fokus terhadap hubungan di media sosial dan banyaknya partisipan pada pengujian psikometri sehingga cukup representatif. Namun, representatif ini terbatas pada populasi penggemar K-Pop sehingga kurang representatif pada populasi lainnya. Pengujian validitas juga dikorelasikan dengan alat ukur CAS yang memiliki jumlah dimensi berbeda. Kedepannya, perlu dilakukan perhitungan validitas diskriminan, pertimbangan terhadap variabel jenis kelamin, pengujian pada populasi lainnya, dan pengembangan untuk mencakup aspek lainnya pada hubungan parasosial.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the comparison of self-confidence levels between men and women in leading organizations in USD students. Then, to determine the level of self-confidence of men in leading organizations in USD students, and to determine the level of self-confidence of women in leading organizations in USD students. This study uses a comparative descriptive quantitative approach. The subjects of the study were students of Sanata Dharma University who were leaders of student organizations totaling 60 people, namely 30 women and 30 men. The data collection technique was through a questionnaire regarding the level of self-confidence. Valid research items in this study amounted to 59 valid items from a total of 60 items. The average score of male self-confidence was 181.733. While the average score of women was 204.933. The average score of women's self-confidence was higher than men. The level of self-confidence of men and women in becoming leaders of student organizations Most of them are in the very high category. The percentage of male self-confidence levels in the very high category is 63.3%, the high category is 16.7%, the medium category is 13.3%, the low category is 0% and the very low category is 6.7%. While the percentage of female self-confidence levels in the very high category is 86.7%, the high category is 10%, the medium category is 3.3%, the low category is 0% and the very low category is 0%.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas layanan bimbingan kelompok dengan teknik sosiodrama terhadap peningkatan kemampuan interaksi sosial siswa kelas X di MAN 3 Banyumas tahun ajaran 2023/2024.  Metode penelitian ini memakai pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian pre-eksperimental jenis one-group pretest-posttest design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 31 siswa kelas X A yang menjadi kelompok pretest dan 31 siswa kelas X B yang menjadi kelompok posttest. Kelompok eksperimen menerima layanan bimbingan kelompok dengan teknik sosiodrama selama 3 sesi. Data dikumpulkan melalui pre-test dan post-test menggunakan instrumen skala Likert yang telah divalidasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test untuk melihat perbedaan signifikan antara hasil pre-test dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara skor pre-test dan post-test secara keseluruhan dengan nilai Z = -2.981 dan nilai signifikan = 0.003 0.05. Nilai rata-rata post-test kelompok eksperimen meningkat dibandingkan dengan nilai pre-test (Xˉpre=2.45X̄_{pre} = 2.45Xˉpre=2.45, Xˉpost=3.07X̄_{post} = 3.07Xˉpost=3.07), menunjukkan bahwa teknik sosiodrama efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan interaksi sosial siswa.

Abstract

Abstrak: Adapun penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk: 1) mengetahui ada tidaknya perbedaan antara toxic personality traits remaja yang berkedudukan sebagai anak tunggal dan non-tunggal; 2) mengetahui seberapa kuat toxic personality traits remaja pada anak tunggal; 3) mengetahui seberapa kuat toxic personality traits remaja pada anak non-tunggal; 4) mengetahui butir item skala toxic personality traits mana saja yang capaian skornya tinggi/kuat.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain komparasi.  Adapun subjek pada penelitian ini terdiri dari 200 orang dengan 2 kelompok subjek: Anak tunggal dan non-tunggal. Masing-masing berjumlah 100 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan skala likert yang dikemas ke dalam bentuk survei-google form. Uji validitas menggunakan validitas isi serta validitas korelasi skor total. Pada uji validitas, didapat 46 item valid. Skala penelitian ini disusun berdasarkan aspek-aspek menurut Arda dan Kanten (2023), yakni: reaktif, cemas, depresi, histeris, panutan, ego-dominan, ego-pasif. Uji reliabilitas pada penelitian ini menggunakan Alfa Cronbach dengan hasil 0,729. Dikarenakan uji asumsi tidak terpenuhi, maka peneliti menggunakan independent samples t-test non-parametrik Mann-Whitney.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Terdapat perbedaan toxic personality traits pada remaja: anak tunggal dan non-tunggal, toxic personality traits anak tunggal lebih kuat dibandingkan anak non-tunggal; 2) Terdapat toxic personality traits anak tunggal sebanyak 6% kategori tinggi, 42% kategori sedang, dan 52% kategori rendah; 3) Terdapat toxic personality traits anak non-tunggal sebanyak 35% kategori sedang, 57% kategori rendah, dan 8% sangat rendah; 4) Terdapat 7 (15,22%) item toxic personality traits yang terindikasi tinggi dengan kategori sangat rendah.

Abstract

Excessive use of social media, especially Instagram, is one of the factors that make learning motivation low. Students often lose track of time when playing and opening social media, and many of them do not know the limits of using social media. Various problems often arise related to the lack of motivation in learning and excessive use of social media, which has a negative impact on students' academic performance and concentration. Learning motivation is the power that encourages students to learn and achieve the best achievements at school. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of information services through Instagram social media to increase the learning motivation of seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Sedayu in the 2024/2025 academic year. The method used in this research is quantitative, with the type of research used is pre-experimental with One Group Pretest-Postest design. The data collection method of this study used a questionnaire questionnaire with a sample recommended by the counseling teacher totaling 22 seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sedayu. The sampling technique used is Nonprobability Sampling technique with purposive sampling type. This research data analysis technique uses paired samples test analysis. The results of the t-test analysis show the value of t = 22.454 with a p value = 0.000 0.05 which shows that information services through Instagram social media are effective in increasing student learning motivation. Based on the results of this study, it shows that the provision of information services through Instagram social media has a positive and significant effect on increasing the learning motivation of seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Sedayu.

Abstract

Guidance and Counseling needs to respond to the problems faced by students in the context of their time. A school counsellor in providing guidance and counselling services needs to take into account the context of the time. This research aims to (1) identify challenges faced by school counselors at this time and in the future; and (2) explore the guidance and counseling perspectives at this time and in the future. The  research method is library research. The research found that the developmental perspective in guidance and counseling  applied today did not meet the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds. In the future guidance and counseling will deal with the multicultural and social justice issues. Therefore, school counselors need to build multicultural competencies and are willing to be a social justice advocate so that they can help students develop their capacities fully.

Abstract

This research uses quantitative methods with a comparative research design. The objectives of this study include: 1) Knowing whether there are differences in FoMo behavior in early adulthood based on gender; (2) Knowing how high FoMo behavior is in early adult males; (3) Knowing how high FoMo behavior is in early adult females; (4) Knowing high FoMo behavior items to be proposed as training topic services.This research is aimed at early adults with the age criteria of 18-25 years. The research subjects were 152 early adults consisting of 75 male respondents and 77 female respondents. This study uses the FoMo scale which consists of 50 used items with 4 aspects, namely: 1) Social Needs; 2) Seeking Approval; 3) Emotional; 4) Social Media. This scale has good reliability with a Cronbach's Alpha index of 0.929. Assumption testing produces data that is not normally distributed and is not homogeneous. Because the assumption test was not met, the Mann Whitney non-parametric t-test was used.The results of the study showed that 1) There is no significant difference between male and female FoMO behavior; 2) The FoMO category in early adult male individuals tends to be moderate (45%); 3) The FoMO category in early adult female individuals tends to be low (45%); 4) There are 4 proposed training topics based on items that are categorized high, namely “building healthy social connections in the digital era”, relying on yourself in the midst of a noisy world, “The art of self-control”, and “Choose need or dependence?”.

Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) how high the stress level of students writing a thesis is (2) how high the motivation level of students writing a thesis is (3) the relationship between stress levels and the motivation of students writing a thesis. This study is a correlational study. The sample consisted of 65 Guidance and Counseling Study Program students, Class of 2019 who were writing their thesis. The analysis technique used categorization, normality test, linearity test, and correlational hypothesis test. Data collection used the Stress Level Scale (44 valid items with a reliability test correlation value of 0.945) and the Motivation Level Scale (44 items with a reliability test correlation value of 0.933). The results of the study showed that: 1) the stress of students writing theses was at a moderate level (43%), 2) the motivation of students writing theses was at a high level (49%), 3) there was a significant relationship between the level of stress and the motivation of students writing theses (r = -0.316, significance 0.010 0.05).
