Journal of Electrical Vocational Education (JEVE)
Aims To promote the publication of academically rigorous research that enhances the quality of vocational education in electrical engineering. To bridge the gap between research, instructional media development, and industry needs. To facilitate knowledge exchange among researchers, educators, industry practitioners, and policymakers. Scope JEVE welcomes manuscripts addressing, but not limited to, the following themes: 1) Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Assessment Curriculum development in electrical vocational education (competencies, OBE/CPL, KKNI/Indonesian NQF). Learning models and strategies: project-/problem-/inquiry-based learning, work-based learning, flipped learning, gamification, microlearning. Authentic and performance-based assessments, rubrics, competency certification (SKKNI/industry standards). Information literacy, digital/AI literacy, soft skills (4C), and employability skills in vocational contexts. 2) Media & Educational Technology in Electrical Vocational Education Design, development, and evaluation of instructional media (trainers, modules, simulations, virtual labs). LMS & e-learning (Moodle, mobile learning), learning analytics, and practical performance dashboards. AR/VR/MR for electrical training, occupational safety, and laboratory procedures. Gamification in learning (points, badges, leaderboards, quests, role-play) for programming, automation, and control systems. 3) Electrical Engineering Domains & Applications in TVET Electrical installation, protection, testing, and troubleshooting. Power electronics, motor drives, PLC/SCADA, DCS, educational robotics, basic mechatronics. Instrumentation and control, IoT/IIoT for vocational training, and data/serial communication in practical settings. Renewable energy (PV, wind, energy storage) and energy efficiency in vocational education. 4) Industry Linkages & Policy Industry partnerships, apprenticeships, teaching factories, and industrial certification. Tracer studies, competency mapping, and skill-gap analysis in electrical vocational education. Policy, management, and governance of laboratories and teaching factories. 5) Design & Evaluation of Innovations Design-Based Research (DBR), R&D (Borg & Gall / ADDIE), and validation of instructional media and instruments. Quasi-experiments, comparative studies, and implementation case studies in laboratories / industry. Software evolution is a continuous process of change that occurs throughout the system development life cycle. In the context of higher education, understanding the dynamics of software change is essential for assessing students’ competencies in managing team-based projects. This study aims to analyze software evolution patterns in student projects developed using the Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach. The research data were obtained from 12 public GitHub repositories belonging to students who developed applications based on the Laravel framework. The study employs a descriptive quantitative approach by analyzing commit log data using automated Python-based scripts. The analysis focuses on activity metrics such as the number of commits, the average number of files changed per commit, and the identification of the most frequently modified files. The results indicate that each group exhibits distinct construction and evolution patterns. Groups with high commit frequencies demonstrate stable iterative development processes, whereas groups with low commit frequencies tend to perform large, sporadic changes. Frequent small changes on average indicate the adoption of good continuous integration practices. These findings confirm that software evolution dynamics in PBL are influenced not only by project size but also by collaboration patterns and the maturity of version control system usage. The results of this study are expected to serve as a foundation for developing automated, data-driven evaluation systems based on students’ development activities, as well as to enrich empirical studies on software evolution in vocational education.

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of using Google Site as a digital learning media in the subject of Electrical Installation for Grade XI TITL students at SMKN 1 Pariaman. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using the one-group pretest-posttest model. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments involving 23 students. The N-Gain Score analysis showed a moderate category of effectiveness with a gain value of 0.574 (57.403%). Paired sample t-test results showed a significant difference (p < 0.05) between pretest and posttest scores, confirming the positive impact of Google Site implementation. The study concludes that Google Site is an effective and accessible platform to enhance students' learning outcomes, particularly in vocational subjects.

Kesiapan mahasiswa sebagai calon guru Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) yang kompeten merupakan faktor penting dalam mendukung peningkatan mutu pendidikan vokasi. Mahasiswa Pendidikan Teknik Elektro dituntut memiliki kompetensi pedagogik, kepribadian, sosial, dan profesional agar mampu melaksanakan tugas keguruan secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesiapan mahasiswa Pendidikan Teknik Elektro dalam menghadapi peran sebagai guru SMK yang kompeten. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui penyebaran angket kepada mahasiswa tingkat akhir Pendidikan Teknik Elektro dan dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesiapan mahasiswa Pendidikan Teknik Elektro secara umum berada pada kategori baik. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa mahasiswa telah memiliki kesiapan yang memadai untuk menjalankan peran sebagai guru SMK, meskipun masih diperlukan penguatan pada beberapa aspek kompetensi agar kesiapan tersebut dapat berkembang secara lebih optimal.

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on student learning outcomes in the Basic Electrical Engineering course for class X TITL at SMKN 1 West Sumatra in the 2025/2026 academic year. Problem-based learning is applied through the presentation of contextual problems related to basic electrical concepts, including electric current, voltage, resistance, simple electrical circuits, and electrical work safety. During the learning process, students are guided to analyze problems, search for and process information, discuss, and formulate solutions systematically. The research method used is an experimental method with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of 31 students from class X TITL at SMKN 1 West Sumatra. Learning outcome data were obtained through tests administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the implementation of the PBL mode The research results indicate an increase in the average student learning outcomes after the implementation of the problem-based learning model. The application of the PBL model has been proven effective in improving understanding of basic electrical concepts, critical thinking skills, as well as students' mastery of the material cognitively. With this increase in learning outcomes, students are expected to have a strong knowledge foundation as a basis for studying electrical competencies at the next level.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa setelah implementasi model pembelajaran peer tutoring berbantuan modul pada mata pelajaran Dasar-Dasar Ketenagalistrikan di SMK Negeri 2 Payakumbuh. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya keterlibatan dan hasil belajar siswa yang masih banyak berada di bawah Kriteria Ketercapaian Tujuan Pembelajaran (KKTP) yaitu 70. Model pembelajaran peer tutoring dipilih sebagai solusi untuk meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa melalui kerja sama antar teman sebaya dengan dukungan modul sebagai bahan ajar terstruktur. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimen menggunakan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X TITL 1 SMK Negeri 2 Payakumbuh yang berjumlah 30 orang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes pretest dan posttest dalam bentuk soal objektif sebanyak 40 butir soal. Data dianalisis menggunakan perhitungan nilai rata-rata, persentase ketuntasan belajar, dan N-Gain untuk melihat peningkatan hasil belajar siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan hasil belajar siswa setelah diterapkannya model pembelajaran peer tutoring berbantuan modul. Nilai rata-rata posttest lebih tinggi dibandingkan pretest dan persentase ketuntasan belajar siswa mengalami peningkatan. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa implementasi model pembelajaran peer tutoring berbantuan modul efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Dasar-Dasar Ketenagalistrikan di SMK Negeri 2 Payakumbuh.

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan dalam proses evaluasi pembelajaran pada mata kuliah Pembangkit Tenaga Listrik di Program Studi Pendidikan Teknik Elektro Universitas Negeri Padang, di mana metode evaluasi yang digunakan masih bersifat konvensional, kurang menarik, dan belum mampu memberikan umpan balik secara langsung kepada siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media evaluasi kuis interaktif berbasis Adobe Animate yang valid, praktis, dan efektif digunakan dalam proses evaluasi pembelajaran. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 2 validator ahli materi, 2 validator ahli media, dan 59 mahasiswa D3 Teknik Elektro sebagai responden uji coba. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa validasi angket dan praktikalitas angket yang dianalisis menggunakan skala Likert. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa validasi ahli materi memperoleh persentase 84,28% dengan kategori Sangat Valid; validasi ahli media memperoleh persentase 93,12% dengan kategori Sangat Valid; uji praktikalitas memperoleh persentase 93,22% dengan kategori Sangat Praktis; dan uji efektivitas menunjukkan 100% siswa mencapai ketuntasan belajar, melampaui kriteria minimal ≥85%. Dengan demikian, media evaluasi kuis interaktif berbasis Adobe Animate dinyatakan layak digunakan sebagai alternatif metode evaluasi pembelajaran pada mata kuliah Pembangkit Tenaga Listrik

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on student learning outcomes in the Basic Electrical Power Subject at SMK Negeri 1 West Sumatra. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects of this study consisted of two classes, namely class X TITL 2 as the experimental class and class X TITL 1 as the control class, each consisting of 36 students. The research instrument used was a multiple-choice test that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data collection techniques were carried out through the administration of pretests and posttests. Data were analyzed using the Independent Sample t-test to determine differences in learning outcomes between the two groups. The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 82.18, while the control class was 66.91. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, so there was a significant difference between the two groups. Thus, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning learning model is effective in improving student learning outcomes in the Basic Electricity subject.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan model Project-Based Learning (PjBL) berbantuan media video terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas XI pada mata pelajaran Instalasi dan Teknik Penerangan Listrik (TITL). Model PjBL dipilih karena kemampuannya untuk melibatkan siswa secara aktif melalui kegiatan proyek yang bermakna dan menantang, sementara media video berfungsi sebagai alat bantu visual dan auditori untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan minat belajar siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan kuasi-eksperimen, menggunakan desain one-group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI TITL di SMK Negeri 1 Sumatera Barat. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen penelitian diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya sebelum digunakan. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif dan inferensial, termasuk uji N-Gain untuk mengukur peningkatan hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada hasil belajar siswa setelah penerapan model PjBL berbantuan media video. Nilai rata-rata pretest adalah 63,76, sedangkan nilai rata-rata posttest meningkat menjadi 85,06. Nilai N-Gain yang diperoleh sebesar 0,57, yang termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Selain itu, persentase siswa yang mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal (KKM). setelah posttest meningkat menjadi 88,23%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PjBL berbantuan media video efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada topik instalasi penerangan listrik. .

Abstract -This study was conducted to identify is improvement by students’ analytical thinking abilities and innovatice thinking skills to implementation of the Problemi Basedi Learningi (PBL) modeli ini thei Electricali Motor Installation subject at SMK Negeri 1 Bukittinggi. The study employed an research experiment using ai onei groupi pre-testi post-testi designi involvingi 36i students of class XI TITL 1. Data were gathered through pre-testsi, post-tests, andi classroom observations conducted during the learning process. The research instruments consisted of critical and creative thinking testsi andi observationi sheetsi. Datai werei analyzedi descriptively using SPSS through meani, standardi deviationi, andi N-Gaini calculations. The findings indicated an improvement in students’ abilitiesi afteri thei implementationi ofi thei Problemi Basedi Learningi modeli. Thei average pre-testi scorei ofi 48.06 increasedi toi 85.00 in thei post-testi, withi ani averagei N-Gaini scorei ofi 0.72 categorizedi asi highi. Observation resultsi showedi thati students’i criticali thinking skillsi reachedi ani averagei percentage ofi 82.22%, while creative thinking skills reached 82.47%, both categorized as good. During the learning process, students demonstrated better abilities in analyzing circuit disturbances, understanding relationships among components, and determining alternative solutions in electrical motor installation practices. The implementationi of Problemi Basedi Learningi encouraged students toi become more active andi analytical, creating a more contextual and problem-oriented learning environment.

This study was conducted due to the relatively low learning achievement of students in the Electric Motor Installation subject at SMK Negeri 1 Pariaman, especially in understanding wiring diagrams, recognizing control component functions, and applying electric motor control circuits. The purpose of this research was to examine the improvement of student learning outcomes through the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model integrated with the Simurelay application. The research applied a pre-experimental method using a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. Participants involved in this study were 23 students from Class XI Electrical Power Installation Engineering (TITL) 2 at SMK Negeri 1 Pariaman. Data collection was carried out through pretest and posttest instruments, followed by analysis using the N-Gain Score and learning mastery evaluation. The results indicated that the average pretest score of students was 56.7, while the posttest average increased to 84.0. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis produced a score of 0.7 with a percentage of 70.3%, which falls into the high category and reflects effective learning outcomes. Student learning mastery reached 82.6%, with 19 students successfully meeting the mastery criteria. Based on these results, the implementation of the Simurelay-assisted PjBL model was shown to be effective in improving student achievement in the Electric Motor Installation subject.
