Abstract

Background: Undergoing hemodialysis during the pandemic has become a polemic for patients with kidney failure. As one of the groups at risk and susceptible to exposure, concerns about being exposed to the virus and the consequences if not undergoing hemodialysis are difficult choices. For each dialysis session, the patient must be in contact with many people in one room for 4-5 hours. In addition, their travel to and from the hospital, also increase the chance of being exposed to Covid-19. The uncertainty and low predictability of COVID-19 have an impact on patient adherence to hemodialysis. Meanwhile, patients who do not perform routine hemodialysis are also at risk for various complications, decreasing quality of life and the threat of death.Aims: the purpose of this research was to identify the factors related to patient compliances with hemodialysis therapy during the pandemic Covid-19.Methods : This research was a descriptive analytic using a cross sectional design. Number of samples involving 97 people was taken by a technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed with multivariate statistics. Results: 52.6% of respondents did not comply with the hemodialysis schedule. The factors related to the non-adherence were education level (p = 0.003), anxiety level (p = 0.002), ease of access to health services (p = 0.00) and family support (p = 0.00).Conclusion: This research concluded that ease of access to health services was the main predictor of patient adherence to hemodialysis during the pandemic Covid-19.

Mung bean extract contains iron, which can be used as a substitute to raise blood hemoglobin levels.Aims: The objective of this study was to determine the impact of mung bean extract on the hemoglobin levels of anemic expectant women at the Kumun Health Center in Sungai Penuh City in 2022.Methods : This is a Quasi-Experimental study with a Two-Group Pre-Test and Post-Test Design. This study's population consisted of 58 expectant women in their third trimester and a sample of 20 individuals selected using a technique of purposive sampling. Results: Prior to receiving mung bean extract and fe tablets, 10 individuals in the experimental group had Hb levels of 8.7 (Moderate Anemia), but after receiving the intervention, their Hb levels increased to 10.9. (Mild Anemia). In the control group, the Hb level of expectant women was 9.0 (Moderate Anemia) prior to receiving Fe tablets, but increased to 10.4 after receiving them (Mild Anemia). Conclusion: With a P-Value of 0.000 (0.05), it was determined that mung bean extract and Fe tablets had an effect on the hemoglobin levels of expectant women with anemia at the Kumun Health Center in Sungai Penuh City in 2022. It is recommended that pregnant women pay close attention to the foods and beverages they consume on a daily basis in order to meet their requirements during pregnancy, such as consuming beverages with high iron content, such as green bean extract and Fe tablets.

Abstract

Background: Premature birth is still a crucial problem for children worldwide. In Indonesia, the 5th highest preterm birth rate country, there have been many studies conducted on the success of treating premature babies but more often research on an intervention to address a specific problem faced by premature infants and their families. Rarely, the research examines qualitatively how health workers, including nurses, take careful measures to address all the health problems of premature babies at the same time until they are successful in caring for premature babies.Purpose: This study aims to dig deeper into the success of Indonesian nurses in caring for premature babies. Methods: This research is a qualitative descriptive study using focus group discussions (FGD) to obtain data from 17 nurses in the nursery who have experience caring for premature babies. Data from the two FGD groups were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: Four themes were obtained which described the success of nurses in caring for premature babies, namely (1) the various feelings of nurses when caring for premature babies (2) the attitude of nurses to work (3) the support of nurses to families (4) the work output of nurses. Conclusion: Success in caring for premature babies from a nurse's perspective is successful in returning the baby to a healthy condition and staying healthy while being treated at home without rehospitalization. The success of caring for premature babies requires cooperation between nurses and families. Nurse support for the family will enable the family to participate actively during care and be able to care for premature babies at home.

Abstract

Background: Aging can cause increased work of breathing and decreased respiratory muscle strength. Furthermore, males and females have different measures of lung function. This alone can become a reason for decreased lung function, especially if there is a history of Covid-19 infection which can cause further damage to the lungs. Purpose: This study investigates the correlation between age and sex differences in the Forced Vital Capacity value of Covid-19 survivors. Method: Using a cross-sectional design with a survey and observational method, this study involved 46 participants that were selected purposively based on their history of being positively diagnosed Covid. Data was collected using a questionnaire and observational form to collect data from the spirometer, then analyzed with the Pearson test and Independent Sample T-test. Result: The result shows that age (mean = 40,89) does have a significant correlation to FVC (mean = 2.3602), with p-value = 0,017 (< 0,05). On the contrary, sex difference does not have a significant correlation with FVC value, with p-value = 0,109 (>0,05). Conclusion: This study reveals that aging can further affect the lung function of Covid-19 survivors, especially when comorbid factors are involved. Moreover, both males and females have the same risk of decreased lung function after being infected by the Covid-19 virus. However, other factors may influence the lung function of Covid-19 survivors. Further research needs to be conducted to scrutinize those other factors.
