Abstract

Introduction: Headache is a symptom that always occurs in brain tumours. During the disease, the patient experiences moderate to severe pain. Headaches gradually become more frequent and severe, as do nausea and vomiting, memory disturbances, seizures, balance disturbances and the risk of death—effective pain management in tumours whose treatment requires pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Music therapy is part of complementary therapy. Music therapy has advantages as an intervention that can be applied in a simple, non-invasive, non-pharmacological relaxation stimulant that is safe, inexpensive, and effective. Objective: This review aims to explore and synthesize the scientific literature on music therapy as a non-pharmacological intervention to manage pain in primary Brain Tumor patients. Methods: The articles were searched in the SpringerLink, Proquest, Google Scholar, and Scopus databases using keywords and boolean operators. Searches used AND, OR, and NOT to produce targeted search results. Inclusion criteria for pain in brain tumors, full text, published within the last ten years from 2012 to 2022, provide information on non-pharmacological strategies in managing pain in primary brain tumors and are written in English. From a total of 8238 journals found, 12 were selected. Results: Based on a review of 12 selected journals, it was found that non-pharmacological management of music therapy effectively reduced pain in brain tumors. In conclusion, music therapy interventions effectively and safely reduce pain and increase patient comfort. Music therapy is a cheap, simple, non-invasive, and non-pharmacological method with no side effects; it can be used as an adjunct for analgesics and relaxation—the effectiveness of music therapy in reducing the pain of tumor or cancer patients.

Abstract

Background : Anemia during the postpartum period is one of the causes of maternal death in Indonesia with an incidence rate of up to  30% cases. Most of them are caused by iron deficiency. It can disrupt oxygen transport due to the function of iron as a form of hemoglobin and erythrocyte.Goals: To explain the effect of beets ice cream on the increasing of  erythrocyte levels in postpartum mothers with anemiaMethod: This research is a Quasi experiment type by using a pretest-posttest with a controlled group. The sample of this study was 30 respondents of postpartum mothers with anemia and then divided into 2 groups, they are 15 respondents for treatment groups and 15 respondents for controlled groups. The sampling technique used in this study was accidental sampling and the variables in this study were giving beets ice cream for 7 days as the independent variable and the level of erythrocytes as the dependent variable. The measurement tools for this study included observation sheets, blood sampling tools, and hematology analyzers. The data in this study were analyzed with paired t-tests, independent t-tests, and one-way ANOVA to determine the effect of therapy on the increase in erythrocytes.Result: 11 grams of beets ice cream treatment for 7 days toward postpartum mother can increase the level of erythrocytes up to 1,2907 with a p-value of 0,000 (p< 0,05). One-way ANOVA test shows a significant result of erythrocytes levels for a group of sampling with (p=0,004).Conclusion:11 beets ice cream given to postpartum mothers with anemia

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death among bacterial infectious diseases worldwide, and Indonesia is the second country with the highest TB burden. Objective: The treatment history and comorbidities of TB disease play a significant role in determining the appropriateness of therapy and the duration of treatment for patients. The objective is to identify the factors that influence the incidence of first molar caries. Methods: This study employs an analytic case-control design with a retrospective cohort methodology. 161 RO TB patients and 161 SO TB patients comprised the total sample size. Statistical analysis of this investigation utilizing R and R Studio.Result: In this study, there was a correlation between gender (p-value 0.006 and odds ratio 1.89), contact investigation (p-value 0.001 and odds ratio 0.23), new TB (p-value 0.001 and odds ratio 0.05), TB recurrence (p-value 0.001 and odds ratio 19.0), TB failed treatment (p-value 0.007 and odds ratio 16.4), and pH-saliva (p-value 0.0001 and odds ratio 21.250). In contrast, risk factors such as absenteeism, diabetes, and HIV were not associated with TB treatment status (p-value > 0.05). Age, investigation of contact, and TB recurrence were the predominant factors associated with TB treatment status, as determined by multivariate analysis. Conclusions: Several factors, including gender and treatment history (new TB, Relapsed TB, Failed TB), influence the status of TB treatment in West Sumatra Province. These are important factors that must be considered and asked by TB officers at health facilities before the patient undergoes an examination of suspected samples and information to provide appropriate medical therapy to TB patients in health facilities.

Abstract

Background: The severity and ease of spread of MDR-TB have caused this disease to become an epidemic in various countries. WHO has also launched an international program "End TB" which until now has not even reached half of the target. Indonesia is already in the third highest position after India and China with a CFR of 0.11% and North Sumatra Province is already at the 6th highest level in Indonesia and the highest on the island of Sumatra.Purpose : The purpose of this study was to see the survival of MDR-TB patients in North Sumatra Province. Methods: The method in this study used a retrospective cohort design with secondary data on MDR-TB cases for 2020 – 2022. The sample used was total sampling with the condition that it met the sample criteria, namely complete data and treatment results. The analysis was carried out using univariate, Kaplan-Meier, bivariate analysis using the logrank test and multivariate with full model logistic regression. Results: The results obtained from a total of 664 cases (26.81%) died and (73.19%) survived. The variables related to survival in MDR-TB patients were age (p = 0.000 HR (Hazard Ratio) 1.88) and HIV status (p = 0.001 HR 1.40). The dominant variable related to survival is age (p = 0.000 HR 0.64).Conclusion: based on statistical tests, age and HIV status had a significant relationship with survival, while gender, OAT resistance, history of DM, history of treatment and treatment delays had no significant relationship based on statistical tests in this study.

Abstract

Introduction, Palliative care is a treatment approach whose goal is to improve and optimize the quality of life of patients with serious, incurable illnesses, including ICU patients. The purpose of this study is to see an overview of the implementation of palliative care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).Method. This literature review was conducted by using PRISMA guidance, a literature survey through electronic databases namely CINAHL, Science Direct and Pubmed using the keywords ‘palliative care’, ‘intensive care unit’, and; ‘critical care’.Result, there were 6628 articles have been identified, there were 4070 duplicates. There were 2,508 articles that were not related to the title. A total of 50 article titles were available to be analyzed worthly and 10 articles were found that matched the criteria, full text, using Indonesian and English, and publications in the range of year in 2013-2023 period. Conclusion, Palliative care in the ICU has received support from major intensive care organizations such as the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (2017). Despite much support, the quality of palliative care in the ICU has shown little or almost no improvement over time (Ganz & Sapir, 2019). Until now there has been no research that describes the overall implementation of palliative care in the ICU, including in Indonesia. There are still found the obstacles in the implementation of palliative care in the ICU that have not been resolved, so, further research is expected on the implementation of palliative care in the ICU, especially in Indonesia.
