Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship and implications between educational supervision and teacher performance at SMA Yos Sudarso Medan. The research is grounded in the importance of the teacher’s role in improving the quality of education and the need for effective strategies to support teacher professionalism, one of which is through educational supervision. Supervision functions as a systematic mentoring and guidance tool to assist teachers in planning, implementing, and evaluating the learning process more effectively. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews and observations. The findings reveal a strong correlation between educational supervision and improved teacher performance. Consistent and effective supervision practices at SMA Yos Sudarso have had a positive impact on teachers’ abilities in lesson planning, classroom management, and reflective teaching practices. The implications of these findings indicate that supervision serves not only as a monitoring tool but also as a strategy for continuous professional development, contributing to the realization of higher quality education.

Abstract

Menstruation is a natural biological process that is often still considered taboo among adolescent girls, especially in religious-based educational environments. Lack of literacy about menstruation has an impact on psychological unpreparedness and misunderstanding regarding health and worship aspects. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of kultum (seven-minute lectures) as a medium for Islamic menstruation counselling for female students in a boarding school. The method used is an educational-spiritual approach through thematic kultum that discusses menstruation from the perspectives of fiqh, etiquette, hygiene, and self-acceptance. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in understanding, positive attitudes, and openness among female students toward menstruation issues. Supporting factors include school support, student enthusiasm, and boarding school culture, while challenges stem from time constraints and psychological factors. This guidance programme demonstrates that kultum can serve as an innovative approach to effectively and practically integrate health education and Islamic values.

Abstract

This study discusses the application of calligraphy learning in writing the Qur'an and its impact on students' skills. Calligraphy as the art of writing has an important role in Islamic tradition, not only as a writing technique but also as a spiritual and cultural expression. Through the literature study method, this study explores various approaches that have been applied and the challenges faced in learning calligraphy. The results of the study indicate that calligraphy learning improves the ability to write the Qur'an by 54.05%, reading and writing skills by 18.92%, creativity by 8.11%, and maharah al-kitabah by 10.81%. In addition, this learning also helps memorize the Qur'an and increases motivation to learn Islam. Although there are challenges, such as lack of student interest (50%), difficulty in writing (33%), and time constraints (17%), an innovative approach can help overcome these problems. This study is expected to make a significant contribution to the development of curriculum and teaching methods in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze teachers’ skills in providing reinforcement, both verbal and nonverbal, at RA Al-Qur’an Ulfah Padangsidimpuan. Reinforcement is one of the eight basic teaching skills which plays an important role in increasing student’s motivation, focus and positive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and documentation of two class teachers. The research result show that teachers at RA Al-Qur’an Ulfah have implemented verbal reinforcement through sentences of praise, motivation, and positive direction to students during the learning process. Meanwhile, nonverbal reinforcement is carried out through facial expressions, body movements, touch, symbols of objects of appreciation, and fun activities. The reinforcement provided is proven to be able to increase children’s enthusiasm for learning, strengthen memorization, encourage good behavior, and create a positive learning atmosphere. However, there is still a need to increase variation and consistency in providing reinforcement according to the characteristics of each child. Thus, the skill of providing appropriate and effective reinforcement is very important in supporting a meaningful and enjoyable learning process in early childhood education institutions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the achievement of emotional development in children aged 5-6 years from divorced families at RA UMMUL MU'IN Patumbak. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh problematika capaian perkembangan emosi pada anak usia 5-6 tahun dari keluarga bercerai di RA UMMUL MU”IN Patumbak. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research type with research subjects of 3 children, 3 parents, and 1 class teacher. The data collection techniques used were direct observation, structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used is data triangulation, by comparing data sources, looking for similarities and differences, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the achievement of emotional development in children aged 5-6 years from divorced families at RA UMMUL MU'IN Patumbak can be achieved overall, where children who are victims of divorce can be cooperative with friends, can show tolerance, can express emotions in various situations, understand rules and discipline, and know manners.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of adaptive management and the development of creativity in children at PAUD Karya Bakti Medan. Early childhood education is a crucial stage in shaping the foundations of children's cognitive, emotional, social, and creative development. In this context, adaptive management is a strategic approach that can respond to the dynamics of children's needs and real conditions in the field. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach with observation, interviews, and documentation techniques to obtain in-depth data. The results show that PAUD Karya Bakti Medan has implemented adaptive management principles through flexible, participatory, and collaborative leadership, as well as support for teacher competency development through continuous training. Children's creativity is developed through art-based activities, although documentation and utilisation of the results of their work still need to be improved. Learning innovation and exploration of children's potential require strengthening in managerial and pedagogical aspects so that learning outcomes are more impactful and sustainable. This study recommends optimising the documentation of children's works and developing more contextual learning strategies to maximise creativity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether or not there is a Relationship between Contextual Approach in the Form of Image Media and Students' Interest in Learning in the Science Subject of fourth Grade Students in SD Inpres 12 sorong regency. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a field study type. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and observation sheets for assessing interest in image media. From the accumulation of calculations with SPSS, it is known that the Sig. (2-tailed) values ​​are 0.000 <0.005 in pair 2 (experimental class), so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a difference in the average between the pretest and posttest learning outcomes, which means that there is an influence of the use of image media in science learning. Based on the results of the study and discussion, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the use of image media and students' interest in science learning in grade IV SD Inpres 12 Sorong Regency.. The calculation of the correlation coefficient r count was 0.922, sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000. Because the significance level that has been set is 0.000 <0.05 and r count is 0.922 for a significance level of 5% with df = 50 - 1 = 49, r table (0.666) was obtained, while the significance level of 10% with df = 50 - 1 = 49, r table (0.798) was obtained. After that, the r² regression test was 0.80, which means that it has a large effect of 85% on students' learning interest. This means that between the use of image media and learning interest in science learning in grade IV of SD Inpres 12 Sorong Regency, there is a very strong or very high correlation.

Abstract

Children from broken home families often face emotional stress and lack of attention, which negatively affects their behavior and academic performance at school. In such situations, the role of Christian Religious Education (CRE) teachers becomes crucial in providing spiritual and emotional guidance. CRE teachers are not only responsible for teaching biblical knowledge but also serve as role models who offer love, understanding, and moral support. Through a holistic approach, CRE teachers can help students overcome emotional wounds, rebuild self-confidence, and instill Christian values in their daily lives. The methods used include pastoral counseling, character-building lessons, and empathetic relationships. In doing so, CRE teachers play an active role in shaping strong and resilient character in children, despite their broken family background. This article explores the practical strategies and challenges faced by Christian Religious Education teachers in guiding broken home students in a school environment.

Abstract

Christian Religious Education (PAK) plays an important role in shaping the character of tolerance in the elementary school (SD) environment in Indonesia, which is known as a country with cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity. This study aims to provide an overview of how Christian religious education can enhance attitudes of tolerance through the teaching and application of Christian values, which involve the role of teachers, and school culture that involves all aspects of primary school. Through a review of four journals, it was found that PAK not only functions as a teaching of religious values, but also as a forum to instill empathy, respect for differences, and social concern. Teachers also actively play a role as facilitators and role models are essential in the learning process, while a supportive school culture and positive activities in schools contribute to the establishment of a harmonious and peaceful environment. Despite challenges in the implementation of PAK, such as a lack of resources and training for teachers, recommendations for more inclusive curriculum development and ongoing training for educators are urgently needed. The results of this research are expected to provide insight into the development of tolerance character education in elementary schools, as well as create a young generation that is ready to face the challenges of diversity in the future.

Abstract

Online learning offers flexibility, but presents challenges in implementing Self-Regulated Learning (SRL). This study aims to identify and analyze these challenges through a comprehensive literature review of 4 relevant journals (2023-2025), using thematic analysis. The results showed four main themes: cognitive challenges (difficulty managing information), metacognitive (difficulty monitoring understanding), affective (motivational and stress issues), and environmental (access to technology and platform quality). These findings are consistent with Zimmerman’s (2000) SRL theory, which emphasizes the integration of cognition, metacognition, and motivation. These challenges are interrelated, forming a negative cycle that hinders learning success. This study highlights the need for online learning strategies that are more supportive and responsive to students’ needs in managing information, monitoring understanding, regulating motivation, and accessing adequate technology and support.
