Abstract

Interest in reading is a fundamental aspect in students' intellectual and academic development. However, in the digital era, students' interest in reading tends to decline due to various factors, such as increasing distraction from technology, changes in information consumption patterns, and lack of support from the family and school environment. This research aims to analyze the factors that cause students' low interest in reading in the digital era and identify strategies that can be implemented to improve reading habits. The research method used is a literature review by analyzing various academic sources, such as scientific journals, books, and research reports that discuss interest in reading, the impact of digitalization on literacy, as well as innovative approaches to literacy learning. The research results show that the main causes of students' low interest in reading include increased dependence on instant digital content, a lack of literacy culture in the family environment, limited innovation in learning methods at school, and a lack of interesting and varied reading materials. To overcome this problem, several strategies that can be implemented include building a culture of literacy at home, limiting excessive digital distractions, integrating technology in literacy learning, and utilizing gamification and digital reading applications to increase the appeal of reading. By implementing the right strategies and collaboration between families, schools, and wise use of technology, students' interest in reading in the digital era can be increased significantly.

Abstract

Language education policies play an important role in establishing an inclusive education system and supporting cultural diversity. This research aims to analyze the influence of language education policies on multicultural education through a literature review approach (library research). This study examines various previous research and policies implemented in various countries in managing language education to support cultural diversity. The research results show that language education policies that support bilingualism and multilingualism contribute to increasing educational inclusivity, preserving cultural identity, and increasing accessibility and academic achievement of students from various backgrounds. Apart from that, effective implementation of language education policies also depends on the role of teachers, curriculum design that is responsive to diversity, and evidence-based policy support. However, challenges such as limited resources, social resistance, and the dominance of one language in the education system are still obstacles in implementing inclusive language education policies. This research provides recommendations for the government and educational institutions to develop more flexible and adaptive policies, by balancing the use of national languages, regional languages and international languages in education. Thus, language education policy can function as an effective tool in building a multicultural education system that is more inclusive, equal and just.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the key benefits of blended learning in educational institutions and the challenges educators/teachers and students face in the implementation of blended learning. With the use of a systematic literature review, 25 research papers were synthesized. To ensure a rigorous selection of relevant research studies on the topic while remaining flexible to include diverse views, this study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework across multiple databases, including Google Scholar, Scopus, and Mendeley. The research revealed that blended learning benefits students in a few different ways, e.g., increased autonomy, greater flexibility, inclusivity, support for diverse learning styles, and development of transferrable skills. There are also some challenges that both students and teachers still have to face. Internally, students are faced with distractions, especially from social media, and feelings of isolation, while teachers deal with resistance to change, low self-confidence, and increased workload. Externally, there is still a technological divide between rural and urban areas, a lack of teachers’ involvement in the decision-making process, and a lack of clear policies and strategic direction within educational institutions.

Abstract

Aphasia, a language disorder resulting from brain damage, significantly impacts both language production and comprehension. This paper reviews the neurocognitive mechanisms underlying aphasia, with a focus on expressive and receptive language deficits across different subtypes. In Broca's aphasia, individuals exhibit non-fluent, grammatically impaired speech, while Wernicke's aphasia is characterized by fluent but semantically meaningless speech. Conduction aphasia, a selective production deficit, highlights the role of the arcuate fasciculus in speech. The review also explores comprehension deficits, particularly in syntactic parsing, as seen in Broca’s aphasia. Recent neuroanatomical research has moved beyond the traditional Broca-Wernicke model, demonstrating the involvement of a broader network, including cortical and subcortical regions, in language processing. Assessment tools such as the Western Aphasia Battery-Revised (WAB-R) and the Boston Diagnostic Aphasia Examination (BDAE) provide valuable insights into aphasia diagnosis and profile. The paper concludes by discussing modern therapeutic approaches like Constraint-Induced Language Therapy (CILT), Melodic Intonation Therapy (MIT), and Semantic Feature Analysis (SFA), which target specific cognitive-linguistic impairments. This review contributes to the understanding of aphasia as a complex, multifaceted disorder, emphasizing its diagnosis, neural bases, and treatment strategies.
