Abstract

Education has long been recognised as a key means of achieving social mobility, where it can act as a tool that provides opportunities or makes it difficult for individuals to move up in the social strata. This study uses the literature method. The results show that education can provide insights, skills and certifications that enable individuals to obtain better jobs and improve their socio-economic status. Education is also recognised as a factor that helps spread progressive ideas, which contributes to overall social development. However, along with these positive impacts, education also has an ambivalent role. In many cases, unequal and exclusive education systems have hindered social mobility, especially for individuals from marginalised groups. Issues such as high tuition fees, curricula that do not match market needs, and discrimination in education are significant barriers. Thus, to achieve the full potential of education as a tool for social mobility, policies must be designed in such a way that they overcome such barriers and provide equitable access to quality education for all members of society.

Abstract

Evaluating and improving the quality of primary school teacher education plays an important role in building a strong educational foundation for students. This study uses the literature method. The results show that competency-based evaluation emphasises the assessment of practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Then, competency improvement through technology-based learning, such as the use of Learning Management System (LMS), is vital in providing flexible and interactive training for teachers. The development of social and emotional competencies is also recognised as an important factor, with training programmes integrating teachers' emotional and mental well-being. This overall approach aims to produce primary school teachers who are not only academically skilled, but also have a stable emotional balance, which in turn improves the quality of education in primary schools.

Abstract

This research is a quantitative research with an explanatory approach. The data used in this study are primary data from interviews with 400 high school students spread throughout Indonesia. The interview consisted of 10 questions with three main teams around Self-Efficacy, Student Learning Outcomes, and School Environment. The interview content contained 5 statements, namely strongly agree, agree, normal/so-so, disagree, and strongly disagree. The data was analyzed using the smart PLS 4.0 analysis tool. The result in this article show that each hypothesis proposed by the researcher in the research methodology section can be accepted. In the first hypothesis section which is in line with the five previous studies, namely (Revita 2019); (Pertiwi 2021); (NURLATIFAH RANGKUTI 2021); (Hartini 2023) & (Faadhilah 2020)shows similar results, namely the Self-Efficacy variable can have a positive relationship direction and a significant influence on Student Learning Outcomes because the P-Values are positive and below the significance level of 0.05, namely 0.023. This is because self-efficacy can create self-confidence or potential, competitive ability, and other things that can improve student learning outcomes. In the second hypothesis, as well as proof of the researcher's creativity in adding the Environment variable as a moderating variable, it also shows similar results, namely the Environment variable can moderate the influence of the Self-Efficacy variable on Student Learning Outcomes. This is because the P-Values value leads to the positivity and is below the significance level of 0.05, which is 0.000, which is more significant than direct testing of 0.023. Thus, the first and second hypotheses in this article can be accepted and proven.

Abstract

The integration of modern technology into education has profoundly influenced the teaching and learning processes, particularly in mathematics and science. This study explores the role of technological tools in enhancing scientific learning and experimentation among students at Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED). A mixed-methods approach was utilized, combining quantitative survey data and qualitative insights to capture a holistic understanding of students’ experiences. The findings reveal that advanced tools such as simulations, virtual laboratories, and data analysis software enhance students’ conceptual understanding, foster engagement, and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. However, challenges persist, including limited access to updated equipment, inadequate training, and technical malfunctions, which disproportionately affect Physics and Chemistry students. To address these issues, the study recommends upgrading laboratory resources, implementing comprehensive training programs, and establishing technical support systems. This research highlights the transformative potential of technology in higher education and provides actionable recommendations to optimize its integration, contributing to the advancement of scientific education in Indonesia.
