Abstract

Early marriage remains a serious issue that affects education, reproductive health, and increases the risk of stunting in children. Adolescents, as a vulnerable age group, are in a formative stage of attitude development, making it essential to understand their tendencies in facing this issue. This study aims to describe the attitudes of female adolescents in preventing early marriage at SMA X, Tanjungsari District, Sumedang Regency, West Java . The research employed a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach and involved 144 respondents selected through proportional stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Early Marriage Attitude Scale (EMAS) and analyzed using frequency distribution and percentages. The results showed that 77 respondents (53.5%) had a positive attitude toward preventing early marriage, while 67 respondents (46.5%) showed a negative attitude. The spiritual belief dimension recorded the highest percentage of positive attitudes (72.9%), followed by the parent-child relationship dimension (66%) and parental economic hardship (66%). The social norms dimension appeared the most balanced, indicating that cultural and social pressures continue to significantly influence adolescent attitudes. Age and family income were also influential; respondents aged 17 and from middle-to-upper-income families tended to exhibit more positive attitudes. These findings imply the need to strengthen reproductive health education, family-based approaches, and adolescent empowerment programs rooted in spiritual values and self-control to sustainably support the prevention of early marriage.

Abstract

Postoperative pain is a common complaint that affects patients' comfort and quality of life, especially among the elderly who experience declining physical function. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of deep breathing relaxation techniques and warm compresses using a Warm Water Zag (WWZ) in alleviating postoperative pain. The research employed a descriptive case study design involving an elderly patient in Prigi Village who experienced acute pain following surgery due to a prior fall. Nursing interventions were implemented over three days, focusing on improving family health management through education and family coping support. Results indicated a significant reduction in pain after the application of deep breathing exercises and warm compress therapy. These therapies work by improving local blood circulation, relaxing muscles, and reducing physiological responses to pain through parasympathetic nervous system activation. Daily evaluations showed enhanced patient comfort and active family involvement in care. These findings suggest that a complementary combination of deep breathing relaxation and warm compresses can serve as an effective non-pharmacological intervention for postoperative pain management. Furthermore, the intervention supports increased family engagement in elderly care at home.

Abstract

Myofascial Pain Syndrome is a common musculoskeletal disorder marked by the presence of hyperirritable trigger points within taut bands of skeletal muscle. One frequently affected area is the upper trapezius, where unmanaged pain can significantly imoair neck mobility and reduce quality of life. The Neck Disability Index is a widely accepted tool for evaluating the functional impact of neck pain. However, more evidence research is needed to determine the comparative effectiveness of different physiotherapy interventions in reducing NDI scores. This study employs a systematic review based on the prisma-p and ultilizing the PICOS structure. Articles were selected from databases including PubMed, Crossref, Web of Science, Medline, ScienceDirect, Elsevier, and IEEE. Results indicate that both ICT and MET stretching are effective in reducing pain and enhancing neck function in patients with MPS. The study concludes that ICT and MET can significantly improve NDI scored, suppporting their use as evidence-based physiotherapy treatment for MPS in the upper trapezius.

Abstract

Measles is one of the infectious diseases that continues to pose a challenge to public health in Indonesia. This study aims to evaluate the attributes of the measles surveillance system at Panglayungan Health Center, Tasikmalaya City, using a qualitative approach through interviews and the use of secondary data. The evaluation focused on nine key attributes of the surveillance system. The results showed that the system performed adequately in terms of simplicity, timeliness, acceptability, and data quality. However, weaknesses were identified in the attributes of flexibility, sensitivity, positive predictive value, and system stability, largely due to limitations in individual data and technical constraints. Therefore, improvements to the system can be made through strengthening information technology, training for health workers, and active community involvement in case reporting. An optimal surveillance system is essential for early detection and control of measles to reduce incidence and mortality, particularly in children under five years of age.

Abstract

The rising prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) among children highlights the need for early intervention, particularly through parental education and lifestyle supervision. This study aimed to improve parents’ knowledge about DM and conduct risk screening for school-aged children at SD Negeri 1 Dukuhwaluh. The program was carried out through health education sessions for 70 parents using pre-test and post-test assessments, and health screening for students in grades 4 to 6, involving random blood glucose tests, BMI measurement, and identification of classic DM symptoms. The results showed a significant increase in parental knowledge, with those in the "Fair" category dropping from 37.21% to 9.31%, and the emergence of the "Excellent" category reaching 18.61%. Children's screening results also showed a reduction in those at "Low Risk" from 15.38% to 6.15%, while the "No Risk" category increased from 84.62% to 93.85%. These findings indicate that integrated education and screening approaches can effectively support the prevention of DM in school-aged children. The implications suggest that ongoing collaboration between schools and families is essential for effective health promotion programs.

Abstract

Patients with advanced-stage kidney disease commonly experience dermatological disorders, with pruritus (itchy skin) being the most prevalent skin manifestation. Other frequent complaints among chronic kidney disease patients include fatigue, muscle weakness, dry skin, and insomnia. Chronic pruritus, or uremic pruritus, is a persistent itching sensation that significantly reduces the quality of life of patients undergoing hemodialysis, affecting over 40% of them. Conventional treatments for uremic pruritus include emollients, topical creams such as capsaicin, ultraviolet B phototherapy, gabapentin, oral activated charcoal, nalfurafine, and opioid antagonists. As a natural alternative, aloe vera and mint have shown potential in relieving skin discomfort due to their soothing, anti-infective, antioxidant, and moisturizing properties. This study aimed to develop a gel formulation containing aloe vera and mint, using peppermint oil, Carbopol 940, triethanolamine, glycerin, methylparaben, and distilled water. Three formulations were prepared with varying concentrations of aloe vera: 10%, 15%, and 20%. The best formulation was F1, containing 10% aloe vera, characterized by a clear gel, a distinctive peppermint aroma, and a homogeneous texture. The formulation had a pH of 6; adhesion time of 7.53 ± 0.261 seconds; spreadability of 6.83 ± 1.04 cm; and viscosity of 5495 ± 83.2 mPas.
