Abstract

This study analyzes how the Haflah Selection Try Out Program improves the students’ quality of Qur’anic memorization at the Yanbu’ul Qur’an Tahfidz Islamic Boarding School in Kudus. The study focuses on the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes of the program as strategies to enhance memorization quality. A qualitative field study approach was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving the pesantren leader, tahfidz coordinator, supervising teachers, and students participating in the program. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the Haflah Selection Try Out Program is implemented through systematic planning, which includes determining memorization standards, assessment criteria, examination schedules, and examiner assignments. Implementation involves tiered memorization assessments designed to measure memorization mastery, recitation fluency, tajwid accuracy, and students’ readiness to participate in the haflah graduation process. Continuous evaluation is conducted through feedback, remedial guidance, and regular monitoring of memorization progress. This program significantly improves students’ memorization quality by strengthening retention, enhancing recitation accuracy and fluency, increasing discipline and motivation to learn, fostering self-confidence, and reducing errors during examinations. This study contributes to Qur’anic memorization education by demonstrating that a structured tryout program with continuous assessment and systematic coaching can effectively improve the quality of memorization. These findings may serve as a practical reference for tahfidz institutions seeking to develop sustainable and measurable memorization improvement programs.

Abstract

This study analyzes the transformational leadership strategies employed by the madrasah principalat MIT Nurul Islam Ngaliyan,in Semarang City to enhance teachers' pedagogical competence based on Islamic values.A qualitative case study design was adopted for this research. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analyses using purposive sampling; the principal served as the key informant. The findings reveal that the principal integrates four prophetic attributesShiddiq (truthfulness), Amanah (trustworthiness), Tabligh (conveying the message), and Fathanah (wisdom/intelligence)into three management dimensions: planning, implementation, and evaluation. During the planning stage, the integration of prophetic values achieved through the principal's personal example and by strengthening teachers' spiritualitythrough guidanceon Quranic recitation and memorization targets. During implementation, this integration is achieved through professional development programs and continuous mentoring, including comparative studies and curriculum training. In the evaluation stage, the integration is achieved through a tiered assessment model that prioritizes behavioral role modeling as the primary criterion. This strategy has proven effective in enhancing both teacher pedagogical competence and student achievement. Approximately 140 young students successfully memorized Juz 30 and the school secured second place in a district-level Siaga (Scout) skills competition involving 43 educational institutions. However, implementing this strategy also encountered internal resistance from some teachers and confusion about adopting instructional innovations. This study contributes to the development of a holistic Prophetic transformational leadership model for Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study describes the implementation of Islamic Education Management (IEM) in the curriculum development process at the BUNAYYA Qur’an Guidance Centre. The goal is to improve the quality of Qur’anic learning and foster Islamic character in students. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with curriculum development at the BUNAYYA Qur’an Guidance Centre as the subject of the research. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving the center’s management, teachers, and parents. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested through triangulation of sources and methods. The research findings indicate that the BUNAYYA Institute has fully implemented the MPI functions in its curriculum development. During the planning stage, the curriculum was formulated through consultation between management, teachers, and parents to integrate the needs of Qur’anic learning and Islamic values. The organization stage is carried out through a clear division of tasks based on the principles of trust and brotherhood. The implementation of the curriculum emphasizes active learning, recitation, memorization, and internalization of Qur’anic etiquettevalues. Monitoring is conducted through periodic evaluations of students’ reading skills, memorization, and behavior. These findings suggest that applying the principles of consultation, trustworthiness, justice, and kindness in curriculum development can enhance the quality of Qur’anic learning and strengthen the formation of students’ Islamic character.

Abstract

Transformational leadership is a leadership style that emphasizes profound organizational change by motivating, inspiring, and empowering individuals to achieve shared goals. In the context of Islamic education, particularly at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) NU Kudus, transformational leadership is expected to improve the quality of education by enhancing the learning process, strengthening teacher professionalism, and encouraging more participatory school management. This study aims to analyze the implementation of transformational leadership at MTs NU Kudus and its impact on improving the quality of Islamic education. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design was used to collect data from 100 teachers and staff members across 15 madrasahs. The data were then analyzed using partial least squares–structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that transformational leadership significantly and positively impacts the quality of Islamic education. School principals who apply transformational leadership by providing inspiration, motivation, individualized support, and value-based direction successfully improve instructional processes, strengthen teacher professionalism, and foster a more inclusive and collaborative school culture. The findings also suggest that leadership based on moderate Islamic values increases stakeholder engagement, including active participation from students and parents. In conclusion, this study recommends strengthening leadership development programs to support sustainable educational quality enhancement and asserts that transformational leadership is an effective strategy for driving institutional improvement in NU-based madrasahs.

Abstract

Research on religious moderation in higher education has generally focused on program implementation and the internalization of values. However, studies examining policy sustainability as a determinant of long-term continuity are limited. Additionally, few scholars have examined religious moderation policies using the AGIL framework developed by Talcott Parsons and Total Quality Management (TQM). This study examines the sustainability of religious moderation policies at IAIN Pontianak through the AGIL framework and TQM perspectives, and their implications for educational quality. The study employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis and were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings suggest that policy sustainability is supported by adapting to national policies, integrating religious moderation into academic activities, coordinating with other institutions, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. However, the main challenges include limited data-driven evaluation and quality indicator implementation. This study’s novel contribution is its use of the AGIL framework and TQM as an analytical framework for understanding policy sustainability, thereby extending the theoretical discourse on higher education policy implementation. Keywords: Religious Moderation, Educational Quality, AGIL, Total Quality Management, IAIN Pontianak
