Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the psychological mechanisms of individual with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) accompanied by panic attacks. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) was provided in an effort to reduce anxiety symptoms. The intervention was conducted over eight sessions, consisting of psychoeducation, relaxation, cognitive restructuring, and problem-solving exercises. The research method used was a qualitative approach with a case study design involving one participant. Measurements were conducted through interviews, observations, and the Beck Anxiety Inventory questionnaire. The results of the study indicate how cognitive distortions play a role in anxiety disorders. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy found to be an effective approach in reducing anxiety symptoms from severe to moderate. Cognitive distortions, such as the belief in always needing to control everything, changed to a more adaptive way of thinking, where the participant learned to distinguish between things that can and cannot be controlled. Changes in daily activities and problem-solving actions were also observed in the subject. A follow-up three weeks after the intervention showed that cognitive, emotional, and behavioral changes were sustained. Panic attacks were not reported by subject post-intervention.

Abstract

The issue of student engagement in higher education has received increasing attention in recent decades due to its important role in enhancing students’ motivation, academic success, and psychological well-being. Measuring engagement allows higher education institutions to identify areas for improvement and design interventions to enhance the learning experience. This study aims to adapt the University Student Engagement Inventory (USEI) for students in Bandung City, to make it relevant to the local cultural and educational context. The USEI instrument, developed by João Maroco (2016), measures three dimensions of engagement and has been translated and tested for content validity by five experts, resulting in s-cvi of 0.72 (relevance), 0.96 (importance), and 0.84 (clarity), indicating good validity. This instrument was subsequently tested among 150 active students in Bandung City through an online platform, with a construct reliability result of 0.824—indicating good reliability. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) analysis on 11 USEI items showed the results of χ2/df = 1.170, p-value = 0.009, RMSEA = 0.063, GFI = 0.928, CFI = 0.947, and TLI = 0.929, indicating that the CFA model is valid. Further research is suggested to involve larger and more diverse samples from various universities and faculties in Bandung City.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the mediating role of Strength Use in the relationship between Strength-Based Parenting and subjective well-being during emerging adulthood. Subjective well-being was assessed through Life Satisfaction and the Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE). This quantitative survey-based research involved 459 emerging adult respondents aged 18-24 years, predominantly female (81.9%) and with a high school education (64.05%). Data were collected using online questionnaires and analyzed with path analysis using the bootstrapping method. The results indicated that Strength-Based Parenting directly and significantly influenced Life Satisfaction (β = 0.152, p < .001) and SPANE (β = 0.215, p < .001). Strength Use also significantly affected Life Satisfaction (β = 0.233, p < .001) and SPANE (β = 0.221, p < .001). Furthermore, Strength Use significantly mediated the relationship between Strength-Based Parenting and Life Satisfaction (indirect effect = 0.106, p < .001) and SPANE (indirect effect = 0.101, p < .001). This suggests a complementary mediation, where Strength-Based Parenting still has a significant direct effect, but part of its influence is also mediated by Strength Use. These findings underscore the importance of Strength-Based Parenting and the role of Strength Use in promoting Subjective Well-Being among emerging adulthood.

Abstract

Online slot gambling is very hightighted issue today. Online slot gambling is played by many people, even children, and many are caught up in this online slot gambling game. This study aims to test the correlation between gambling-related cognition and perceived social support, which is predicted to correlate with gambling behavior. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. This study involved 361 online slot gambling players. Data analysis using Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The hypothesis test results indicate that gambling-related cognition is positively correlated with gambling behavior, with t = 27.466 (t > 1.96) and p = 0.000 (p < 0.005), supporting the first hypothesis. However, perceived social support does not significantly correlate with gambling behavior, with t = 1.062 (t < 1.96) and p = 0.288 (p > 0.005), leading to the rejection of the second hypothesis. These findings can be a reference for further research with the same theme and can be used as a reference in developing interventions to reduce gambling behavior.

Abstract

Fulfilling job demands and work responsibilities requires various resources, both from the teachers themselves and from the organization. Effective management of job resources can help teachers meet job demands. The JD-R (Job Demands-Resources) model is aimed at increasing teachers' work engagement with their profession. This study seeks to examine the role of job crafting in relation to work engagement among teachers. The theories used are the work engagement theory by Bakker, et al. (2008), and the job crafting theory by Tims and Bakker (2010, 2012). The study focuses on teachers who have worked for at least one year at Foundation "X". The data analysis technique used in this research is hierarchical regression analysis, observing the role of job crafting on work engagement, with the addition of demographic data of the teachers. The results show that job crafting affects work engagement among teachers. The correlation value (R) is 0.40, and the coefficient of determination (R square) is 0.17. This means that the job crafting variable (independent variable) has an influence of 17% on the work engagement variable (dependent variable). Demographic data, including age, number of children, spouse's employment status, and education level, strengthen the role of job crafting in relation to work engagement. The results of this study can serve as a basis for enhancing work engagement through the improvement of job crafting. Schools can strive to provide teachers with the freedom to explore innovations and be creative in the teaching process. The recommendations from this study are addressed to the research subjects to enhance their job crafting and make use of their demographic characteristics in order to remain engaged with their work. For schools, it is necessary to improve job crafting and to implement teacher development programs that take into account demographic data, which can strengthen the role of job crafting in promoting work engagement.

Abstract

Adolescents in Indonesia often face various challenges, such as academic pressure, interpersonal relationship dynamics, and the influence of social media, which can affect their Psychological Well-Being . Several studies have shown that the majority of high school students in Indonesia have a moderate level of Psychological Well-Being . This study aimed to examine the relationship between Emotional Intelligence  and Self-Esteem on Psychological Well-Being  in 235 tenth-grade students at SMAN 2 Klaten. The study used a quantitative correlational approach with probability sampling through a cluster random method. Data were collected using three instruments: Ryff's Psychological Well-Being  Scale (Ryff, 1989), the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence  Scale (WLEIS; Goleman, 1995), and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965). All instruments were tested for validity and reliability, with validity coefficients ranging from 0.35–0.72 and Cronbach's Alpha reliability >0.70, indicating adequate internal consistency. The results of the regression analysis showed that Emotional Intelligence  and Self-Esteem were positively and significantly related to Psychological Well-Being , both partially and simultaneously. These findings confirm that these two intrapersonal variables play a crucial role in supporting adolescent mental health. Therefore, it is recommended that schools and students develop emotional skills training programs and Self-Esteem strengthening programs through structured learning and counseling activities to optimally promote Psychological Well-Being Psychological Well-Being Psychological Well-Being Emotional Intelligence Self-EsteemPsychological Well-Being Emotional Intelligence Self-EsteemPsychological Well-Being Emotional Intelligence Self-EsteemPsychological Well-Being.

Abstract

The development of social media in adolescents' lives can encourage prosocial behavior through interaction and empathetic expression. However, it also risks triggering aggression due to exposure to harmfull content and unhealthy interactions. This study aims to systematically examine how the role of family mediates the impact of social media on prosocial and aggressive tendencies in adolescents. This study was conducted using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach using the PRISMA 2020 guide. The literature search process was conducted on June 24-30,2025, in five main databases: Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Mendeley.  The selection was made for articles published in 2018-2024, including peer-reviewed journal articles in Indonesian or English. Fourteen articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed thematically. Findings show that emotional support from families, open communication, and positive supervision of digital media use contribute to shaping prosocial behaviors and lowering aggressive tendencies in adolescents. Families who are actively involved in adolescents' online activities tend to be able to direct them to healthy social interactions. The role of the family has proven to be crucial in shaping adolescents' social behavior through supportive supervision and open communication. Based on attachment theory and social control theory, families foster positive norms, strengthen emotional cohesion, and increase resistance to social pressure and exposure to harmfull content from social media. Family interventions, such as digital literacy and maintaining effective communication of social values, can stimulate prosocial behavior and prevent the emergence of aggressive behavior. Thus, the family plays a positive role as a mediator in respondimg to social challenges in the digital era.

Abstract

Parents have various approaches to raise their children, one of which is by determining the parenting style used to educate their children. One of the parenting styles is the permissive parenting style. Permissive parenting is characterized by low discipline and boundaries set by parents, and is often associated with low self-control and an increased risk of deviant behavior in adolescents. This study aims to identify the factors that influence the increased likelihood of individuals with a permissive parenting style engaging in criminal behavior. This study was conducted using a literature review method, utilizing 11 articles from the past five years. The literature review identified four factors that increase the likelihood of individuals with permissive parenting styles engaging in criminal behavior: lack of parental supervision and control, parental disregard for children's mistakes, disorientation from norms and rules, and the influence of the environment and peers. The conclusion of this article is that individuals with permissive parenting styles have a higher likelihood of engaging in criminal behavior due to a lack of control, boundaries, and guidance from parents, which results in weak self-control among individuals with permissive parenting styles.

Abstract

Final-year Generation Z students face challenges in preparing themselves to enter the workforce, including academic pressure and career anxiety. Work readiness is shaped by the influence of internal and external factors such as social support and career anxiety; however, previous research has not yet explained the dynamics between these three aspects. This study was conducted to examine the role of social support and career anxiety on the work readiness of final-year Generation Z students. The study involved 430 students (aged 19–25 years) selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Work Readiness Scale, Career Anxiety Scale, and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and analyzed with multiple linear regression. The results revealed that social support had a significant positive effect, while career anxiety had a stronger negative effect. Career anxiety emerged as the main barrier, whereas social support acted as a driver of work readiness. Psychosocial interventions and career counseling are recommended to improve students’ work readiness.

Abstract

Adolescents face various psychological challenges that may increase the risk of suicidal behavior. This quantitative descriptive–correlational study aimed to examine the relationships between family social support and self-love culture with suicide prevention among adolescents. Participants were 525 high school students in Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara (233 males, 292 females; M_age = 16.05 years, SD = 1.09). Family social support was measured using the Perceived Social Support-Family Scale (PSS-Fa), self-love culture with an instrument based on Yoon Hong Gyun’s perspective, and suicide prevention with the Reasons for Living Inventory–Adolescent Version (RFL-A). All instruments demonstrated adequate psychometric properties, with Cronbach’s alpha coefficients of 0.78 (family social support), 0.76 (self-love culture), and 0.71 (suicide prevention), and item–total correlation coefficients ranging from 0.235–0.825, 0.231–0.758, and 0.226–0.748, respectively. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s correlation (ρ). The results showed a significant relationship between family social support and suicide prevention (ρ = 0.795; p < 0.001), as well as between self-love culture and suicide prevention (ρ = 0.805; p < 0.001).
