Abstract

This study aims to validate the CAMI instrument developed for respondents in Indonesia using Rasch modeling. Community Attitudes Towards the Mentally Ill (CAMI) or community attitudes towards people with mental disorders refers to how society responds to someone with a mental disorder. The sub-dimensions of CAMI are based on (1) authoritarianism, (2) benevolence, (3) social restrictiveness, and (4) community mental health ideology. This instrument was tested on 255 respondents spread across various regions using a Google form. Of the 255 respondents obtained, only 222 respondents were used in the Rasch modeling analysis because 33 respondents needed to meet the person fit test requirements and had to be discarded. The results of the study indicate that CAMI has good psychometric characteristics for measuring community attitudes toward people with mental disorders. All Rasch modeling assumptions are met. Respondent reliability of 0.62, item reliability of 0.99, and instrument reliability of 0.66 indicate fairly good internal consistency of the Indonesian version of CAMI. Based on these findings, public attitudes towards people with mental disorders in Indonesia can be measured using this instrument.

Abstract

The dynamics of the developmental process in adolescence not only involve physical changes but also require adjustments in terms of psychological and social. This study aims to examine the effect of ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) as a therapy for adolescents on mental and physical health problems including cognitive, emotional and behavioural aspects. The method used was Systematic Literature Review using 4 databases including Science Direct, PubMed, Springer Link, and Scopus, and critical appraisal was carried out and resulted in 7 literatures with the category of adolescents aged 10-21 years. The results show that based on the 7 literatures that have been reviewed, ACT is proven to be effective as a therapy for adolescents. Based on the diversity in the characteristics of adolescents studied, it shows that the application of ACT contributes positively to adolescents with ASD (autism spectrum disorder), SLD (specific learning disorder), obesity and mental health problems including psychological distress such as stress, anxiety, depression, self-defences mechanisms, flexibility in dealing with problems. Several factors that may be associated with the effectiveness of ACT therapy include the number of sessions, duration, media of presentation and self-assignment. Adolescents showed a positive effect on online and offline method at 4-8 sessions, duration of 30-90 minutes and delivery media involving pictorial media in ACT-online as well as flexibility in the time of therapy implementation.

Abstract

Caregiving for individuals with mental illness poses various challenges that can disrupt the well-being of the families providing care. Caregivers are vulnerable to experiencing stress. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of progressive muscle relaxation in reducing stress among caregivers of families with mental illness. The research design employed is a quasi-experiment with a one-group pre-test-post-test design. The participants in the study include 4 family members who care for individuals with mental illness. Participants were selected based on interviews and their willingness to participate. Data collection involved pre-test and post-test phases using the Kingston Caregiver Stress Scale. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test method. The data analysis results show a significant decrease in stress (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that progressive muscle relaxation is effective in reducing stress among caregivers of families with mental illness. Therefore, progressive muscle relaxation can be utilized for managing stress in caregivers of families with mental illness.

Abstract

Complex Thinking is a cognitive process for understanding the relationship between unity and diversity. This process involves interdisciplinary skills that are important for students in the context of education and professional life preparation. However, until now, no adaptation of the Complex Thinking measurement tool has been conducted in Indonesia. Therefore, a study is needed to examine the validity and reliability of the Complex Thinking measurement tool adapted from Tobon (2021) in the Indonesian context. The Complex Thinking scale consists of 21 items with 5 dimensions: problem solving, critical analysis, metacognition, system analysis, and creativity. This study involved 203 active university students as participants. The results of the CFA test indicated that the model was fit, with goodness-of-fit indices of 0.067 (RMSEA), 0.062 (SRMR), and 0.994 (CFI). These findings confirm that the Complex Thinking measurement tool adapted into Indonesian has good validity. Furthermore, with a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.885, the measurement tool has proven to be reliable.

Abstract

This study aims to adapt the Brain Fog Scale (BFS) measurement tool for the young adult population in Indonesia. Brain fog is a cognitive disorder characterized by difficulties in concentration, confusion, and mental fatigue. Although many reports describe the symptoms of brain fog, systematic tools for detecting and evaluating this condition are still limited. This research employs a quantitative method with psychometric analysis, including validity and reliability testing. The sample consisted of 208 students selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected using the BFS questionnaire, which consists of 23 items covering three dimensions: mental fatigue, impaired cognitive acuity, and confusion. Data analysis was conducted using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) for construct validity testing and alpha coefficients for reliability testing. The results show high reliability (alpha = 0.935); however, the construct validity test revealed that the model did not fully fit, with Chi-Square, CFI, and RMSEA values not meeting model fit criteria, although the SRMR value indicated good results. These findings suggest that the BFS tool requires revision to improve construct validity, especially in the Indonesian cultural context. This study provides a foundation for the development of a more suitable BFS tool for detecting brain fog symptoms in young adult individuals.

Abstract

Anxiety is one of the topics that has attracted the attention of several parties recently, especially among students. The anxiety experienced by students when facing uncertainty at a reasonable level of intensity can be considered to have positive value, but if anxiety reaches a high level, it can cause negative effects. The purpose of this study is to adapt the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12 (IUS-12) measurement tool into a version that is relevant for Indonesian students. This adaptation involves translation and cultural and linguistic adjustments, with a focus on two main dimensions: Prospective Intolerance of Uncertainty and Inhibitory Intolerance of Uncertainty. The study included 200 active students aged 18–23 years. Data collection was conducted using accidental sampling. The scale used in this measurement tool is a five-point Likert scale with 12 items. Data collection methods used questionnaires distributed online and offline. Data collection used a measurement tool to assess individuals' inability to cope with uncertainty, namely the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12 (IUS-12). The psychometric analysis included item analysis, factor analysis using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), which included factor loading analysis, model fit testing, and reliability testing. The reliability result of this measurement tool was 0.795, which falls into the good category and indicates that this measurement tool is reliable for measuring the construct of intolerance to uncertainty among university students. However, the results of the item analysis and factor loading analysis were still unsatisfactory, as the factor loading values were > 0.4. Three items need to be eliminated based on the analysis results. Therefore, further research is needed to improve the quality of the measurement tool so that it can be used optimally, especially in the Indonesian cultural context. This study is expected to contribute to the development of psychological measurement tools that are more appropriate for the Indonesian cultural context.

Abstract

Generation Z, as the youngest generation in the workplace, has greater access to technology and information, including career exploration. We assume, that family remains an important role in determining career search efficacy. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between career related parental support and career search efficacy in Generation Z. The respondents in this study are Generation Z, aged 18-27 years old (N=160). Based on confirmatory factor analysis in this study, career search efficacy is more fit to be formed by a three-factor scale, rather than a four-factor scale. Furthermore, hierarchical regression analysis showed, the instrumental assistance dimension of career related parental support was negatively related to career search efficacy, while emotional support was found to be positively related to career search efficacy. Our findings provided insights into the different roles of career-related parental support dimensions on career search efficacy among Generation Z.

Abstract

The role of a caregiver often demands significant sacrifices in terms of time, thought, emotions, and energy, leading to various physical and psychological issues. Therefore, a valid and reliable measurement tool is needed to accurately assess caregiver burden. The Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) is one such tool that is frequently used and has been shown to be valid and reliable in various countries and ethnic groups. However, in Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia, there has been limited research on the reliability of the ZBI. This study aims to evaluate the validity of the ZBI within the cultural context of Indonesia using Rasch Model analysis. The study involved 305 caregivers selected through convenience sampling, with the ZBI consisting of 22 items. The analysis showed a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.93, indicating high reliability. The Wright Map indicated a moderate level of item difficulty. Bias was found in item 21 based on gender, items 6 and 8 based on age, items 7, 11, and 12 based on caregiving duration, and items 6, 7, and 18 based on geographic location. Overall, the Indonesian version of the ZBI was shown to be valid and reliable in measuring caregiver burden. The role of a caregiver often demands significant sacrifices in terms of time, thought, emotions, and energy, leading to various physical and psychological issues. Abstract

For today's Generation Z, career exploration is not just a developmental phase but also an adaptive process in responding to dynamic career challenges caused by technological disruption, social changes, and the impact of the pandemic. The gig economy has emerged as an alternative for Generation Z who find it difficult to access formal employment, but it also brings uncertainty in terms of income and employment status. Therefore, career adaptability is important for Generation Z who work as content creators. This descriptive-correlational quantitative study aims to analyze the relationship between hardiness and career adaptability among Generation Z who work as content creators. The study employed convenience sampling and obtained 331 participants who met the criteria for completing the DRS-II scale, the CAAS scale, and open-ended questions in the questionnaire. Since the data are not normally distributed, Spearman's rank correlation was used to test the correlation between the two variables. The results showed a significant positive relationship between hardiness levels and career adaptability. This means that the higher the level of hardiness, the higher the level of career adaptability among Generation Z working as content creators. The main implications of the research findings is that hardiness is essential to remain relevant and in demand in pursuing a career as a content creator. The education sector, communities, and relevant government institutions can offer programs to develop hardiness in support of content creators' career development.

Abstract

Football fans, especially female supporters of the Indonesian National Team, often experience high emotional involvement in supporting their favorite team. One of the phenomena that emerges is Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), which can affect their level of life satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the relationship between FOMO and nationalism on the life satisfaction of female fans of the Indonesian National Team. This study uses a quantitative method with a purposive sampling technique, involving 30 respondents who are female fans of the Indonesian National Team in East Java. Data were collected through a scale that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that FOMO had a significant effect on life satisfaction, with an R value of 0.980, R-square of 0.662, F of 647.2, and p-value <0.001. This shows that 66.2% of the variation in life satisfaction can be explained by FOMO and nationalism, while the remaining 33.8% is influenced by other factors. In addition, nationalism does not have a significant effect in this model. Thus, the higher the level of FOMO, the more likely a person is to experience increased life satisfaction in the context of involvement as a fan of the Indonesian National Team. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of good FOMO management to maintain psychological balance and life satisfaction of football fans.
