Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of urea fertilizer doses on the growth and yield of white mustard (Brassica chinensis L.) cultivated in polybags. The research was conducted in Nangameting Village, Alok Timur District, from March to April 2023. The experimental design used was a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with five treatments and four replications, totaling 20 experimental units. The treatments included control (no fertilizer), and urea doses of 1 g, 3 g, 5 g, and 7 g per polybag. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, and fresh weight of the plants. Data analysis was performed using ANOVA, followed by Least Significant Difference (LSD) test at 5% significance level. The results indicated that urea fertilizer significantly affected plant height and the number of leaves at 28 days after planting. The dose of 1 g/polybag produced the highest plant height, while the 3 g/polybag dose resulted in the highest fresh weight. The findings suggest that appropriate urea fertilization can enhance the vegetative growth and yield of white mustard in polybags, with further research needed to determine optimal fertilizer doses and application timing.

Abstract

The practical garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Nusa Nipa University Maumere is a practical location for students of the Faculty of Agriculture intended for the cultivation of food crops and horticulture. The cultivation of these two types of crops at this location has been carried out intensively for several planting seasons without considering the land capability class of the land. Intensive agricultural activities on this land will continuously impact land capability, namely the degradation of land fertility, which will further affect the decrease in productivity. This research was conducted at the Practical Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Nusa Nipa University Maumere. The method used in this research is the survey method with data sampling using purposive sampling. Data processing was carried out using the arithmetic matching method, which involves matching the results of laboratory and field observations with the most dominant limiting factors in each sample. Based on the results of the land capability analysis using the arithmetic matching method, which is based on the most dominant land capability class from all observation parameters, the Faculty of Agriculture, Nusa Nipa University Maumere, as a whole has the same land capability class, namely Class I, with varying limiting factors, so the practical garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Nusa Nipa University Maumere, is very suitable for agricultural cultivation activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the income level of farmers who implement an intercropping system of chili and tomato in Ladogahar Village, Nita District, Sikka Regency, and to examine the internal and external factors influencing farm income. In addition, this study evaluates the efficiency of the intercropping system in improving productivity and farmers’ profits. The research used a case study method by directly observing field conditions and conducting interviews with farmers. The sampling technique applied was saturated sampling, in which the entire population was used as the research sample. The results show that the chili and tomato intercropping farming system in Ladogahar Village provides relatively high profits for farmers. The average total production cost incurred in this farming system is Rp 21,075,000 per planting season, while the average revenue obtained reaches Rp 61,200,000 per planting season. Thus, the average income earned by farmers from this intercropping system is Rp 40,125,000 per planting season, which is derived from the difference between total revenue and total production costs during the cultivation process. Based on the feasibility analysis, the chili and tomato intercropping farming system practiced in Erik Fram, Ladogahar Village, is considered feasible to develop. This is indicated by the R/C Ratio value of 2.90, meaning that every Rp 1 of production cost generates Rp 2.90 in revenue. Furthermore, the B/C Ratio value of 1.89 indicates that the profit obtained is greater than the total costs incurred. Therefore, the chili and tomato intercropping farming system has promising prospects and can provide significant economic benefits for farmers.

Abstract

A study was conducted in Langir Village, Kangae District, Sikka Regency from February 2024. The purpose of this study was to determine how much income was obtained from the milled corn and seed corn business and to determine how much relative profit was obtained from the milled corn and seed corn business in Langir Village, Kangae District, Sikka Regency. The results of the study showed that the income received by respondent farmers for the milled corn business was an average of Rp. 1,409,644, - with the lowest income of Rp. 290,000, - and the highest income of Rp. 3,627,500, -. While the income received by respondent farmers for the seed corn business was an average of Rp. 2,285,458, - with the lowest income of Rp. 30,500, - and the highest income of Rp. 15,087,500, -. From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that selling corn in the form of seed corn or seeds is more profitable than milled corn even though both are economically profitable. This occurs when corn kernels are sold for seed. The R/C ratio for a corn milling business is 4, categorizing it as feasible because it is greater than 1. Meanwhile, the R/C ratio for a corn kernel business is 6, which, according to the criteria, is greater than 1, making it feasible. Therefore, both businesses are considered feasible.

Abstract

Production efficiency in lowland rice farming can be improved through enhancements in farmers’ managerial capabilities. These capabilities originate from the farmers themselves and are influenced by socio-economic factors. This study aims to determine the level of production efficiency of lowland rice farming in the Beranga Indah Farmer Group, Magepanda Village. The research method used is a survey method with a quantitative approach. The sampling technique applied was a saturated sample, involving 19 respondents. Data analysis employed the Cobb-Douglas production function and efficiency testing. The results of the study indicate that the factor that significantly (statistically) affects lowland rice production in the Beranga Indah Farmer Group is labor, with a significance level of 0.009. Meanwhile, the factors that do not have a significant effect are land area (0.278), seeds (0.183), pesticides (0.371), and fertilizer (0.286). The use of inputs such as land area, labor, seeds, pesticides, and fertilizer has not yet been technically, allocatively, or economically efficient, as the efficiency values of land area, seeds, pesticides, and fertilizer are greater than one; therefore, they are considered inefficient.

Abstract

Tomatoes are one of the horticultural commodities that have high economic value and are widely cultivated by farmers due to their considerable market demand. However, tomatoes are highly perishable and their market prices often fluctuate, which can affect farmers’ income levels. Therefore, a farm feasibility analysis is needed to determine whether tomato farming activities can provide economic benefits. This study aims to determine the feasibility of tomato farming at Moeda Tani Farm, Alok District, Sikka Regency. The research was conducted from February to March 2023. The method used in this study was a quantitative descriptive method. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data sources consisted of primary data obtained directly from respondents, namely the manager and employees of Moeda Tani Farm, and secondary data obtained from related institutions. The data analysis used included analysis of production costs, revenue, income, and business feasibility analysis using the Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C). The results of the study show that the total production cost of tomato farming is IDR 24,780,000 per planting season, consisting of fixed costs and variable costs. The total revenue obtained is IDR 36,000,000, resulting in an income of IDR 11,220,000. The R/C ratio obtained is 1.45 or greater than one. This indicates that tomato farming at Moeda Tani Farm is feasible to operate and provides economic benefits, thus having the potential to be further developed.
