Abstract

Leadership plays a pivotal role in strengthening the capacity of Islamic educational organizations to respond to organizational change while preserving their distinctive educational values. Growing institutional complexity, rapid educational transformation, and increasing public expectations require leadership that extends beyond managerial functions toward sustainable organizational development. Limited attention has been devoted to understanding how leadership contributes to organizational development within the context of Islamic educational organizations. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with five leaders of Islamic educational organizations selected using purposive sampling. Interview data were analyzed through thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns related to leadership and organizational development. Analysis generated three major themes: understanding leadership, leadership strategies, and leadership outcomes. Leadership was understood as an amanah that integrates spiritual responsibility, ethical commitment, and professional competence. Organizational development was supported through shared vision, strategic planning, human capital development, effective communication, organizational commitment, and continuous evaluation. Leadership practices also fostered ethical decision-making, strengthened organizational culture, and enhanced institutional sustainability through collaborative governance and value-based management. Sustainable organizational development therefore depends on leaders' ability to integrate Islamic values, organizational learning, and managerial professionalism into everyday leadership practices. Findings contribute to the growing literature on educational leadership by offering an integrated perspective on leadership and organizational development within Islamic educational organizations while providing practical insights for leaders seeking to strengthen institutional resilience and long-term sustainability.

Abstract

The crisis of teacher role modeling in the digital age has become one of the serious challenges in the world of education. The development of information technology and social media has not only brought convenience to the learning process but has also raised various ethical issues that have led to a decline in the moral authority of educators. This study aims to analyze the concept of the ideal educator in the book Adāb al-Dāris wa al-Mudarris by Jamāl al-Dīn al-Qāsimī and to reinterpret it in the context of the crisis of teacher role modeling in the digital age. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research. The primary source of this study is the book *Adāb al-Dāris wa al-Mudarris*, while secondary sources consist of books and journals relevant to Islamic education, teacher role modeling, and digital ethics. The data were analyzed using content analysis. The results indicate that the concept of the ideal educator according to al-Qāsimī encompasses four main dimensions: spiritual, personal, pedagogical, and social. The crisis of teacher exemplary behavior in the digital age arises from the weakening of the internalization of these values in contemporary educational practice. Through the lens of Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory and Mike Ribble’s concept of Digital Citizenship, this study found that the values of adab proposed by al-Qāsimī remain relevant as an ethical foundation for rebuilding teachers’ integrity, professionalism, and exemplary conduct in the digital age. Thus, al-Qāsimī’s concept of the ideal educator can serve as an alternative solution in addressing the growing crisis of exemplary conduct within modern educational settings.

Abstract

This study responds to the challenge faced by boarding madrasahs in maintaining discipline and religious habituation without relying on rigid or punitive educational relationships. It examines the implementation of Indonesia’s Curriculum of Love and its perceived implications for the humanistic character formation of female students at MTs Al Ukhuwah 6 Sukoharjo. A qualitative case-study design was employed. Data were drawn from in-depth interviews with 11 informants—one madrasah principal, four teachers or boarding mentors, and six female students—together with participant observation conducted during August 2026 and curriculum documentation. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while source and method triangulation were used to strengthen credibility. The findings indicate three recurring forms of practice: joyful learning, educator role modelling (uswah hasanah), and the cultivation of a student-friendly boarding environment. Informants associated these practices with greater self-awareness, responsibility, openness toward mentors, learning comfort, and discipline grounded more in personal awareness than fear of sanctions. Mediation and persuasive communication were also used to address interpersonal conflict. Because this is a single-site qualitative case study without pre-post measurement, the findings are interpreted as contextual implications rather than causal effects. The study highlights the value of integrating compassion, role modelling, and pastoral care in character education within boarding madrasahs. Keywords: boarding madrasah environment; joyful learning; positive discipline; student well-being; uswah hasanah.

The validity test used the product moment technique and the reliability test using the alpha cronbach technique, analyzed using the SPSS 25.0. From the validity test, 41 valid items were obtained, while the reliability test results of 0.896 were included in the very high reliability category. The level of manners of grade VII students at SMPN 1 Sumberrejo Bojonegoro was in the high group of 9 students, the medium group of 29 students, and the low group of 8 students. Abstract

This study examines the relationships between learning discipline, extrinsic motivation, and students' self-reported academic achievement in an Islamic higher education institution. Situated within the Faculty of Tarbiyah at Institut At-Tanwir Bojonegoro, the study considers how discipline and motivation operate in an educational context that integrates academic development with Islamic values. A quantitative correlational survey design was employed. From a population of 584 students, 85 respondents were selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire consisting of 36 items: 12 items for learning discipline, 12 for extrinsic motivation, and 12 for self-reported academic achievement. Data were analyzed using validity and reliability testing, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, an F-test, and the coefficient of determination (R²) with SPSS 27. The results showed significant positive relationships between learning discipline and academic achievement (t = 4.732, p < .05) and between extrinsic motivation and academic achievement (t = 5.552, p < .05). The overall regression model was significant (F = 51.229, p < .001), with the two predictors jointly accounting for 55.5% of the variance in self-reported academic achievement. These findings suggest that disciplined learning practices and supportive external motivation are important correlates of students' perceived academic performance. In Islamic higher education, the findings highlight the relevance of connecting self-regulated learning and institutional support with values such as istiqāmah, amānah, and iḥsān.

Abstract

This study examines mujahadah in Jam'iyyah Ta'līm Wal-Mujāhadah Jum'at Pon (JTMJP), Padang Jagad, Krapyak, Yogyakarta, as a cultural text through Roland Barthes's semiotics. Whereas previous studies have predominantly approached mujahadah as spiritual discipline or a means of religious character formation, this study asks how ritual meaning is produced through observable signs and how such meaning moves from denotation to connotation and myth. The study employs a qualitative approach combining field observation of ritual practice with a focused literature review. The units of analysis include dhikr, repeated litanies and prayers, tirakat, collective salawat accompanied by hadrah, Qur'anic recitation, collective performance, and the place of religious guidance within the ritual. The analysis shows that, at the denotative level, mujahadah signifies jihad al-nafs, spiritual discipline, and an effort to draw closer to God. At the connotative level, collective performance enables ritual signs to acquire meanings of communal piety, solidarity, religious identity, and interpretive authority. At the level of myth, particular connotations may become naturalized as apparently self-evident understandings of legitimate spirituality. The article also considers the possibility of instrumental or transactional readings of spiritual practice without treating them as evidence that JTMJP itself commercializes mujahadah. The study demonstrates that mujahadah can be understood simultaneously as devotional practice and as a socially situated process of cultural meaning-making.
