Abstract

Universities are at the forefront of preparing competent human resources to face the Industry 4.0 era, which is fraught with digital and technological disruption. Academic anxiety arises from the gap between the dynamic demands of the industry and the readiness of higher education institutions. This study aims to deeply explore and understand the meaning of the lived experiences of lecturers in the curriculum planning process in the Industry 4.0 era. Using a qualitative approach and a phenomenological method, this research seeks to uncover the essence of academics' challenges, hopes, and perceptions through in-depth interviews. The results identified three main themes from the lecturers' experiences: (1) Navigating the Tension between Academic Tradition and Industrial Disruption; (2) Efforts to Build Collaborative Bridges with external parties; and (3) Aspirations Towards an Adaptive Academic Ecosystem. This study concludes that understanding the essence of curriculum designers' experiences is key to creating more humane and relevant educational innovations amid changing times.

Abstract

The rise of digitalization has led to significant changes, particularly in education, by enabling unlimited access to diverse knowledge and cultures. However, this accessibility also poses risks for younger generations, potentially exposing them to exclusive and intolerant religious teachings that hinder their acceptance of diversity. Islamic education is demanded to seek alternative solutions in facing these challenges by building an inclusive Islamic education ecosystem. This research aims to examine and analyze the concept of an Inclusive Islamic Education ecosystem, the crucial role of the inclusive Islamic education ecosystem in addressing religious exclusivism in educational institutions, and efforts to address the challenge of religious exclusivism in educational institutions by building an inclusive Islamic education ecosystem. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative study. The rationalistic approach is used to analyze the problems holistically. The method used is library research. The research findings indicate that: (1) the concept of an inclusive Islamic education ecosystem essentially originates from the teachings of Islam as universal and has been exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad SAW in unifying the Madinah society, (2) an inclusive Islamic education ecosystem plays a crucial role for educational institutions in Indonesia in producing graduates who have firmness in Islamic faith and are free from religious exclusivism, (3) Efforts to address the challenges of religious exclusivism can be carried out by holistically building an inclusive Islamic education ecosystem involving several key elements, including the education curriculum, educators, students, learning models, parents and society.

Abstract

Students' difficulties in understanding the concept of numeracy are often a challenge in learning mathematics at the primary education level, especially when the methods used are conventional and do not involve direct interaction. This study aims to explore the application of manipulative media as an innovative alternative in numeracy learning in 1st grade students of MI Ar-Rochmah Gesang Tempeh Lumajang. Manipulative media is expected to be able to present a more interesting and meaningful learning experience, so that students not only understand concepts in the abstract but also through physical involvement and active exploration. This research focuses on three main things: first, how the learning process of calculating with manipulative media is carried out in the classroom; second, the impact of the application of this media on the understanding of concepts and student learning outcomes; and third, the various challenges faced during the implementation of the method. These three aspects are the basis for understanding the effectiveness of manipulative media as well as evaluating the obstacles that need to be overcome to create more optimal learning. The research approach uses qualitative methods with case studies as the main design. Data collection techniques involve observation, interviews, and documentation, which aim to dig into the hands-on experiences of teachers and students. Data analysis was carried out through a thematic approach to identify patterns that emerge in learning interactions and their impact on students. The results of the study show that manipulative media is able to significantly increase student involvement in the learning process, create a pleasant atmosphere, and help students understand the concept of counting more easily. However, challenges such as time constraints and the need to improve teachers' competence in utilizing manipulative media were also identified. These findings offer new insights into the importance of innovation in mathematics learning, particularly in the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah environment, to support the achievement of better learning outcomes.

Abstract

This article discusses Ibn Sina’s educational thought and its implications for contemporary Islamic education. Ibn Sina, who has long been recognised as a philosopher and an expert in medicine, is also found to have developed significant ideas concerning the concept of Islamic education. His educational thought provides constructive and solution-oriented contributions to current educational challenges. The research method employed in this study is descriptive qualitative, aiming to explain and understand Ibn Sina’s educational thought in depth. The findings reveal several important aspects. First, according to Ibn Sina, the objectives of education are directed toward the development of the physical, intellectual, and moral dimensions of the learner. Second, the curriculum, as conceptualised by Ibn Sina, may be classified according to age groups: ages 3–5 years, 6–14 years, and 14 years and above. Third, the teaching methods proposed by Ibn Sina include talqin (guided instruction), demonstration, habituation and exemplary modelling, discussion, apprenticeship, assignments, as well as targhib (encouragement) and tarhib (discouragement). Finally, Ibn Sina emphasised the character of an ideal educator, who should be religious, intelligent, competent in teaching children, capable of cultivating moral education, cheerful in demeanour, calm in appearance, polite, courteous, clean, pure, and free from bullying or frivolous behaviour in front of students.

Abstract

This study discusses the implementation of transformational leadership strategies in improving the quality of education at the Darussalam Jatibarang Islamic Boarding School, Brebes. Transformational leadership is seen as relevant to the needs of modern Islamic boarding schools because it is not only instruction-oriented, but also acts as a motivator, innovator, and morality coach. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation validated by triangulation of sources. The results of the study show that transformational leadership in the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School plays a significant role in strengthening vision, professionalizing management, improving the quality of human resources, and spiritual and intellectual development. The strategies implemented include organizational restructuring, regeneration, strengthening networking, quality culture, and financial transparency. The analysis shows that transformational leadership in this pesantren is in line with Bass' theory (idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration) and is rooted in Qur'anic values and Islamic prophetic traditions. These findings confirm that transformational leadership can be an effective model in developing the quality of Islamic education, especially in Islamic boarding schools, so that it is able to answer the challenges of modernization without abandoning Islamic identity.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Indonesian migrant labor has created complex socio-cultural challenges requiring innovative approaches within Islamic educational contexts. This study examines how Islamic counseling principles can be integrated with modern psychological approaches to address the psychosocial needs of students with migrant parents at Madrasah Aliyah Ummul Quro. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this research explores the integration of Islamic values (tazkiyah, sabar, and tawakkal) with contemporary counseling techniques in addressing social and emotional well-being challenges. The study involved students with migrant parents, Islamic guidance counselors, and school administrators. Data collection employed non-participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, analyzed through Miles & Huberman’s interactive model. Findings reveal that Islamic counseling integration provides culturally appropriate solutions by combining Quranic guidance, prophetic traditions, and modern psychological principles. The socio-cultural approach demonstrates effectiveness in addressing unique challenges within transnational family structures while maintaining Islamic identity and values. The integrated model shows significant potential for Islamic educational institutions in addressing contemporary social challenges while preserving religious authenticity. This study contributes to the development of Islamic counseling theory and provides practical frameworks for madrasah-based guidance services.

Abstract

This study analyzes the contribution of Islamic philosophy of education in strengthening the conceptual foundation of Indonesia’s national education system. The urgency of this research arises from moral degradation, the dominance of instrumentalist paradigms that focus merely on cognitive aspects, and the challenges of globalization that threaten humanistic values in education. Using a qualitative narrative literature review, this research explores classical and contemporary sources through three philosophical dimensions—ontology, epistemology, and axiology. The findings indicate that Islamic philosophy of education provides an integrative paradigm that harmonizes intellectual, spiritual, moral, and social aspects; rejects the dichotomy between religious and secular sciences; and emphasizes tauhid, ethics, and humanity as the foundation of education. These contributions are in line with the vision of Law No. 20 of 2003, Pancasila, and the 1945 Constitution, thereby enriching theoretical discourse while also offering practical guidance for curriculum development, policy-making, and educational practice in Indonesia.

Abstract

A supportive learning environment is a key factor in achieving successful education because it nurtures the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of students. This study explores the integration of psychosufistic principles—an approach that combines modern psychology with Sufi spirituality—in shaping a harmonious learning environment. A library research method with a qualitative approach is employed, drawing data from classical and contemporary works on Sufi psychology and Islamic education. Data analysis uses content analysis to identify key themes such as takhalli, tahalli, tajalli, and takziyatun nafs as foundations for character building and spiritual development. The findings indicate that psychosufistic values enrich education by balancing rational intelligence, emotional sensitivity, and spiritual depth. From an Islamic perspective, a conducive learning environment is not limited to technical and physical aspects but is also a manifestation of Islamic values such as compassion, harmony, and moral discipline. The role of educators is crucial in internalising these values, serving not only as knowledge transmitters but also as moral exemplars. The study concludes that integrating psychosufistic principles into Islamic education contributes significantly to the creation of a harmonious environment that enhances motivation, emotional well-being, and character formation. Such integration is essential to address modern educational challenges and foster students who are intellectually capable, emotionally balanced, and spiritually connected.

Abstract

This research examines the effectiveness of the Jigsaw cooperative learning model in improving Islamic Religious Education learning outcomes, focusing on the problems of teacher-centered approaches that lead to low active participation among students at MIN 9 Nganjuk. The research aims to analyze the significance of implementing the Jigsaw cooperative learning model on improving Islamic Religious Education learning outcomes for Asma’ul Husna material. The study employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 25 fifth-grade students (13 boys and 12 girls). The research instrument consists of a learning outcome test with 25 items (15 multiple-choice and 10 essay questions) validated through expert judgment and empirical validity testing with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.89. Data analysis results show a significant increase in average learning outcomes from 71.6 in the pretest to 92.4 in the posttest with a t-value of -11.43 (p < 0.05). The transformation in learning outcome distribution is evident, with the majority of students initially in the low category (48%) shifting to the very high category (56%) after model implementation. The research conclusion confirms that the Jigsaw cooperative learning model effectively improves Islamic Religious Education learning outcomes through the integration of social constructivism principles, metacognitive skill development, and extrinsic cognitive load reduction that aligns with the Islamic values of ta'awun (mutual assistance) and ukhuwah (brotherhood) in Islamic education.
