Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly influenced contemporary educational practices, including at the level of primary education. This technological transformation presents both opportunities and challenges for Islamic educational institutions, particularly Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, in maintaining the balance between technological innovation and the cultivation of Islamic character grounded in spiritual ethics. The increasing integration of digital technologies into learning environments raises concerns regarding the preservation of moral and spiritual values that constitute the core objectives of Islamic education. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role and potential of Artificial Intelligence in supporting the formation of Islamic character in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, to formulate a framework of spiritual ethics as a normative foundation for the use of AI in Islamic education, and to provide practical recommendations for educators and educational institutions in utilizing AI in ways that remain aligned with Islamic values. This research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, which systematically examines relevant academic literature related to Artificial Intelligence in education, Islamic character education, and spiritual ethics within Islamic educational contexts. The research data were obtained from scholarly sources such as peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, and previous scientific studies, which were analyzed through content analysis to identify patterns, conceptual relationships, and key insights relevant to the research objectives. The findings reveal that Artificial Intelligence has considerable potential to enhance instructional innovation and learning effectiveness in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah; however, its implementation must be guided by a framework of spiritual ethics to ensure that technological utilization remains consistent with the fundamental mission of Islamic education in cultivating morally responsible and spiritually aware students

Abstract

Arabic has long been recognized as the primary language through which Islamic teachings are conveyed, making it essential for understanding religious texts and devotional practices. In many Islamic educational contexts, however, students often memorize prayer supplications without fully comprehending their linguistic meanings. This gap between recitation and comprehension may limit the development of spiritual concentration (khushūʿ) during prayer. This study explores how Arabic language pedagogy can be integrated with prayer supplications to enhance students’ linguistic understanding and reflective engagement during worship. This research employed a qualitative design conducted at Pondok Pesantren Darullughah Wadda’wah, involving 30 first-grade Tsanawiyah students who regularly participate in Arabic language learning and congregational prayers. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis of instructional materials related to prayer recitations. The collected data were analyzed using the qualitative framework of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Triangulation was applied to ensure the credibility of the findings. The results reveal that integrating prayer supplications into Arabic language instruction allows students to engage with authentic linguistic materials that are directly connected to their daily religious practices. Teachers explained the lexical meanings, grammatical structures, and contextual significance of selected supplications, enabling students to link linguistic knowledge with spiritual reflection. Interview findings further indicate that students who understand the meanings of the supplications tend to demonstrate greater attentiveness and reflective awareness during prayer. Rather than reciting mechanically, they perceive prayer as meaningful communication with God. The study concludes that integrating Arabic language pedagogy with prayer supplications can simultaneously strengthen linguistic competence and spiritual awareness among students. This approach offers a pedagogical model that bridges Arabic language learning with Islamic devotional practice, particularly in pesantren contexts where language education and religious life are closely intertwined. Abstract

This research aims to explore the efforts of elementary schools in the Gununganyar District of Surabaya in realizing child-friendly schools. This study is a descriptive qualitative research. The research methods used are interviews, documentation, observation, and analysis of articles from the sampled school's website. The data's validity is checked using triangulation technique, where the obtained data is confirmed integratively. Based on the research results, primary schools in the Gununganyar District of Surabaya are making several efforts to create child-friendly schools, such as implementing a child-friendly curriculum, creating a safe and comfortable environment, establishing child-friendly policies and rules, involving parents and the community, and developing child development programs. One example of a child development program implemented by some schools is conducting regular religious activities and maximizing students' potential in academic and non-academic fields, among other things. It is expected that with these efforts, schools in Surabaya can continue to improve their quality and become more child-friendly. Moreover, it requires synergy among schools, parents, and the community to create a safe and comfortable environment for children.

Abstract

Balanced and moderate Islamic education is essential for addressing contemporary challenges such as extremism, rigid formalism, and impersonal pedagogical practices. This study examines the moderation-based teaching methods (washatiyah) of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ  documented in Ar-Rasūl al-Mu‘allim, focusing on the integration of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions. Employing a qualitative library research approach, the study analyzes the Prophet’s pedagogical principles, including tadarruj (gradual learning), dialogical engagement, role modeling, contextual demonstration, and taysir (ease and facilitation). The findings indicate that these methods effectively balance intellectual rigor, ethical cultivation, and practical application, fostering learners who are morally responsible, spiritually grounded, and socially inclusive. Furthermore, the moderation-based pedagogy remains highly relevant for contemporary Islamic education, providing educators with strategies to cultivate critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and holistic character formation in diverse learning contexts.
