Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of group conformity level and self-concept on marriage perception among millennials in Semarang City. The rising trend of marriage postponement among millennials underlies the urgency of this research. A quantitative approach was applied to millennial respondents (born 1981–1996) delaying marriage via purposive sampling, analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results show that group conformity has a significant negative influence on marriage perception, meaning stronger conformity to marriage-delaying group norms leads to more negative marriage perception. Conversely, self-concept has a significant positive influence, where individuals with stronger self-esteem and self-confidence tend to hold more positive marriage perceptions. Together, both variables contribute significantly in explaining the variation in marriage perception among millennials. The study recommends strengthening self-concept and developing critical attitudes toward group norms to form a more balanced marriage perception.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of comedy sketch viewing intensity and brand image on the credibility of Bank Mega's communication sources on TikTok. Using a quantitative approach, a survey was conducted among 353 TikTok users who had watched the bank's comedy content. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression via SPSS. The results indicate that, both simultaneously and partially, viewing intensity and brand image have a positive and significant effect on source credibility. An Adjusted R Square value of 0.220 shows that these variables account for 22% of the variance in source credibility. These findings suggest that light entertainment content is an effective strategy for banking institutions to build trust and engagement with digital audiences, moving beyond traditional formal communication.

Abstract

Interfaith marriage presents complex communication dynamics, particularly regardinghow individuals maintain and negotiate their religious identities within marital life. This studyaims to understand the experiences of Muslim women in negotiating their religious identitiesin marriages with Catholic men. This research employs a phenomenological approachinvolving seven Muslim women who are married to Catholic spouses. Data were collectedthrough in-depth interviews and analyzed using phenomenological analysis to uncover themeaning of participants’ lived experiences. The findings reveal that religious identitynegotiation does not occur through open conflict but through everyday practices that arepersonal, contextual, and relational. Negotiation is carried out by positioning religioussymbols as personal needs within the domestic space, meaning that such symbols are notnecessarily displayed as public identity markers but are adjusted based on relational comfortwithin the family. In addition, religious practices are treated as private domains that areperformed in parallel without mutual interference, allowing differences in belief to coexistwithout escalating into conflict. In terms of food consumption, negotiation takes place throughthe management of halal and non-halal boundaries using practical adaptation strategies, suchas separating food or adjusting shared eating practices. Meanwhile, religious celebrations areredefined as social and familial moments rather than ritual participation, enabling involvementwithout compromising individual religious identities. Regarding children’s religiousupbringing, negotiation occurs through discussion and mutual agreement between partners, taking into account family values as well as the child’s individual autonomy. These findingsindicate that religious identity negotiation in interfaith marriage operates through theformation of personal boundaries, everyday adaptive strategies, and relational adjustmentsthat allow differing beliefs to coexist within the household.
