Abstract

Abstract

This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate) development model. The data collection technique uses the percentage technique of media expert and material expert validation sheets. In addition, using student response questionnaires and test questions. The results of the study showed that the interactive articulate storyline learning media obtained a media expert validity score of 4.15 out of a maximum score of 5.00 while the material expert validity was 4.72 out of a maximum score of 5.00. Interactive learning media has also been tested and obtained an average increase in learning outcomes of 48.19, from the previous average of students in the pretest of 31.94 increasing to 80.13 in the posttest. And based on the N-Gain test analysis, an average increase in overall learning outcomes of 0.70 was obtained, which experienced an increase in the High category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the articulate storyline media for reaction rate material is categorized as very valid, very practical, and good for use in high school chemistry learning.

Abstract

Implementation of Chemistry Teaching Material Integrated with Spiritual Values Using the Problem Based Learning Model to Improve Student Learning Outcomes Reviewed from Learning Motivation. This study aims to investigate the significant influence of chemistry teaching materials based on spiritual values on student learning outcomes, reviewed from student learning motivation using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed. The sample consisted of two randomly selected groups of Grade XI students: the experimental group (Class XI-1), which received instruction using spiritual value-based materials integrated with the PBL model, and the control group (Class XI-3), which used conventional materials. Data were collected through posttests to assess learning outcomes and questionnaires to measure learning motivation. Data analysis included normality, homogeneity tests, and a two-way ANOVA. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher average posttest score (77.0) compared to the control group (71.89), indicating improved learning outcomes. The two-way ANOVA revealed a significant effect of learning motivation on learning outcomes (p = 0.000 < 0.05), as well as a significant interaction between spiritual value-based teaching materials and motivation (p = 0.03 < 0.05). These findings suggest that the integration of spiritual values in chemistry teaching materials, when combined with the PBL model, positively and significantly enhances student learning outcomes, especially when students are highly motivated to learn.

Abstract

Application of Problem Based Learning Model based on Reading to Learn (R2L) Method to Improving Students' Science HOTS-Literacy Ability on Chemical Bonding Material. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' science HOTS-Literacy skills after the application of Problem Based Learning Model based on Reading to Learn (R2L) method on chemical bonding material. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental approach, namely a pretest-posttest design with a control group. In its implementation, the study involved two experimental class groups that received learning through the PBL model based on the R2L method and the control class that received learning with the PBL model without the R2L method. Based on the research results, the hypothesis obtained sig 0.00 <0.05 which means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. This shows that the increase in students' science HOTS-Literacy ability applying the R2L-based PBL model (n-gain = 67.99%) is higher than the control class that applies the PBL model without R2L-based (n-gain = 50.99%).

Abstract

Development of Interactive E-Module Based on Problem Based Learning to Improve Students' Higher Order Thinking Skills in Acid Base Material. The low ability of students' Higher Order Thinking Skills in understanding chemical concepts, especially in acid-base material, is one of the challenges in the learning process. This material is often abstract and requires a deep understanding of the concept, so innovative learning media are needed to stimulate critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the improvement of students' HOTS on acid-base material after using interactive e-modules based on Problem-Based Learning. This study is a development research using the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The research sample was taken randomly, consisting of 32 students of class XI Sains A7 at MAN 1 Medan. The research instruments included validation sheets from material experts, media experts, teacher and student response questionnaires, and tests given before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the use of interactive e-modules. The validation results showed that the developed e-module was in the category of being suitable for use. The average percentage of validation from material experts was 82.7%, media experts 85.55%, chemistry teacher responses were 84.5%, and students' responses were 87.45%. Effectiveness analysis was carried out using normality test, one sample t-test, and N-gain test. The normality test showed that the data was normally distributed. The results of the one sample t-test showed a significance value <0.001. While the results of the N-gain test showed an average value of 0.69 which is included in the moderate increase category. Based on these results, the interactive e-module based on Problem Based Learning developed is declared valid, practical, and effective in improving students' higher order thinking skills (HOTS) in acid-base material. Therefore, it is suitable for use as an alternative learning media in acid-base chemistry learning at the high school level.
