Abstract

Poetry is a literary work that has existed since long time ago. There are many types of poetry in Japanese Literature, namely, tanka, haiku, shi, kashi, and another. In this thesis, the type of Japanese poem, haiku and shi have similarity. Both of them have similarity in using natural symbols, but they have different meanings. The purpose of this thesis are to determine the meaning of haiku and shi, and also the meaning of the natural symbols in those poems. The methods that are used to analyze the meaning of the natural symbols in the poem are structural method and semiotic method. Structural method is used to analyze the structure of the physical poem and inner structure poem. Analysis of the physical structure consists of diction, imagery, concrete word, and the figure of speech. Analysis of the inner structure consists of theme, tone, atmosphere, feel, and message. This structural method is used to determine the meaning of the whole poem. Semiotic method is used to determine the meaning of the natural symbols in poem. Natural symbols consist of phenomenon of plant, animal phenomenon, phenomenon of water, air phenomenon, phenomenon of soil and other natural symbols. Results of this thesis explain that haiku describes the implicit meaning of the circumstances at the time of the Edo period. Shi explains the feelings of the author. In addition, there are twenty natural symbols that contain in haiku and shi. There are six symbols of the plant phenomena, five animal phenomena, three water phenomena, an air phenomenon, two soil phenomena, and three another natural phenomena. All symbols have different meanings.

Abstract

Tame ni in Japanesse language indicates the purpose. Tame ni has the meaning “to” in the Japanesse language sentence usually followed by a verb wich has the intention and desire called ishidoushi. You ni in Japanesse language indicates the purpose. You ni in the Japanesse language sentence usually followed by a verb wich is does not contain the desire called muishidoushi. Author choose this issue because of the dificulty of distinguishing the use of this two words because in Indonesia language have similiar meaning but different in use. The purpose of  this research is to make easy for applying the use of conjungtions tame ni and you ni gramaical structure and meaning Japanesse language sentence.

Abstract

This Thesis research about changes the sound of the rendaku that occurs in the merger word namely reduplication and composition of japanese. Rendaku is the phenomenon in morfofonemik regulating the change of sounds that occur from voiceless consonants to became voiced consonants. Change the sound of this is not merely a change in which every single consonant voiceless to be voiced consonants, but change the sound by adding dakuten or a modifier of the sound (‘’) on the phoneme first of second components in the merging of the word. The aim of this research is described how can rendaku could happen and how rendaku can ' t happen. This research uses the technique collecting data such as jitsurei and sakurei. Data collected are verbal results reduplication and also words results composition which experienced rendaku and who also failed to undergo rendaku. Based on the conclusions this research result there some things can be inferred. On reduplication, change the sound can occur only if the word is wago and in one component of the word consisting of two mora. While in composition, if composition of kango Word, the first component influential against an onset of rendaku. Where components have the influence of nasal sounds (nasal). Abstract

This research discusses about speech act of direct in Japanese comic’sYowamushi Pedal Chapter 87-93. Generally, people know that the meaning ofdirectives is give an order or commanding to someone who communication withus. Truthly, directives has another meaning, it depends on the context andsituation. This research purpose to knowing the meaning of directives based onthe context and situation.This research use descriptive method, illocutionary theory of Searle, and“Model of Speaking” of Hymes theory. The result from this research, show thatthere are 4 classifications meaning of directives. There are commanding,requesting, prohibition, and invite expressions.

Abstract

The sequence of this thesis are: first the writer collects the references and analyzes the data. Then, she obtained the data from Anthology of Japanese children's literature's book. The problems that will be studied in this thesis are intrinsic, extrinsic elements and the moral values contained in Sato Shinyuu Koyo's short story. This study uses structural method. The method is used to analyze the intrinsic and extrinsic elements that lead to moral values of the story. It makes the writer easier to analyze the moral values of story. The intrinsic elements that will be discussed in this thesis are theme, character, plot, setting, point of view, and the message of story. And the extrinsic elements that will be analyzed is the author's environment.

Abstract

In writing this essay the author discusses the 'Contrastive Analysis of Onomatopoeia in Japanese and Javanese'. The author chose this title because of the lack of discussion about the comparison between the onomatopoeic Japanese and Javanese. To write this thesis, firstly, the author collected data, and then analyze the data, after that, the dat presented in a descriptive form. Onomatopoeia in Japanese consists of two types, namely giseigo (giongo) andgitaigo incorporated in onshouchougo. Giseigo (giongo) are words that express mock voices or sounds of living beings and inanimate objects, while gitaigo are words that express the state. Classification giseigo (giongo) is divided into two, namely giseigo stating voice imitation of living things, and giongo stating imitation sounds of inanimate objects. Just as giseigo (giongo), gitaigo divided into three classifications. The classifications, namely gitaigo who declared a state of inanimate objects, giyougo who declared a state (state behavior) of living creatures, and gijougo who declared a state of heart (feeling) human. Of all these classifications outline has ten different meanings classification. Moreover, the characteristic forms contained on onomatopoeia also affect its meaning.

Abstract

Adverbial Tabi Tabi, Shiba Shiba and Yoku have the same meaning, which is a repeatof an event or condition (often). The third adverbial above has different frequencylevels. Adverbial of Tabitabi has higher frequency levels than adverbial ofShibaShiba but adverbial of Tabitabi is lower than adverbial of Yoku. Adverbial ofShibaShiba is the lowest levels of frequency and adverbial of Yoku is the highestfrequency levels.

Abstract

Dalam masyarakat majemuk pasti ada keberagaman budaya. Namun untuk hidup dan bertahan di dalamnya bukanlah hal yang mudah. Mereka yang termasuk dalam kelompok minoritas dituntut untuk mengadopsi budaya-budaya yang dimiliki kelompok mayoritas. Proses ini disebut dengan asimilasi. Hal ini dilakukandengan tujuan agar mereka dapat diterima dan mendapat perlakuan dan kesempatan yang sama dengan kelompok mayoritas. Sebagian dari mereka dengan sukarela mengasimilasi budaya-budaya baru dan sebagian lagi sebaliknya. Mereka tetap berpegang pada budaya mereka dan enggan untuk mengadopsi budaya dari kelompok mayoritas seperti yang terjadi pada sebagian besar etnik Chicano. Namun, setiap orang memiliki tingkatan yang berbeda dalam mengadopsi budaya tersebut. Proses asimilasi tersebutdapat direfleksikan dalam karya sastra, salah satunya melalui sebuah film. A Better Life adalah sebuah film yang mencoba untuk mendeskripsikan tentang hidup seorang ilegal imigran asal Meksikodan seorang anaknya di tengah- tengah masyarakat Amerika Serikat. Di dalam film ini,digambarkan bagaimana perbedaan asimilasi yang dialami oleh dua generasi yang berbeda.            Tujuan penulisan skripsi ini adalah untuk mengetahui adanya perbedaan tingkatan dalam proses asimilasi yang dialami oleh dua generasiChicano yang berbeda. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian pustaka dengan pendekatan sosilogi. Penulis mengaplikasikan teori asimilasi dalam menganalisis film.            Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa secara umum, generasi kedua lebih terasimilasi dari pada generasi pertamaseperti yang digambarkan dalam film A Better Life. Terdapat perbedaan tingkatan yang tipis di dalam beberapa sub proses asimilasi yang dialami generasi pertama dan kedua. Perbedaan tersebut terjadi pada sub proses asimilasi budaya dan asimilasi struktural sekunder yang mengacu pada pencapaian dalam pekerjaan dan pendidikan. Selain itu, terdapat persamaan dalam sub proses asimilasi struktural primer, yaitu asimilasi yang mengacu pada kontak sosial dalam masyarakat. Hal ini disebabkan oleh tingginya kekeluargaan yang dimiliki etnik Chicano yang menjagakeeratan hubungan sosial diantara mereka.

Abstract

Yabu no Naka is a short story that tells about seven different testimonies and confessions about a murder of a samurai, Takehiro Kanazawa. This story started with four supporting testimonies of a woodcutter, a Buddhist monk, a police officer, and an old woman. Then followed by major testimonies from the victim and the perpetrator, they are a criminal named Tajomaru, Masago recognition (the wife of a husband who was killed), and the spirits of Takehiro (a samurai) who spoke through an intermediary of a shaman. In analyzing Yabu no Naka, the writer used structural approach, because this short story discussed the elements that build from within. The purpose of this study is to determine the structure of the story, such as the characters and characterization, plot, setting and background, theme, and message of the story in Yabu no Naka. Furthermore, based on the analysis above the writer tried to determine how the relationship between intrinsic elements in the Yabu no Nakashort story so that it creates a unified story. Abstract

Toono Monogatari is a folklore that has become a tradition in Toono – Iwate. In Toono Monogatari researcher examine the Mayoiga legend, which is a mysterious house in the middle of Toono forest. This study uses a reception analysis of literature and analysis of folklore to determine the responses of readers to believe in Mayoiga legend and what functions of the legend on Toono’s society. The method for obtaining data by distributing questionnaires to 33 respondents of the Japanese and in-depth interviews in the field on research directly in Toono – Iwate, Japan. While the result is that the legend Mayoiga is still believed by some of Toono’s people, and results of research to the folklore is that the Mayoiga legend has a function and an important role in the preservation of the legend, literature, and culture of the city of Toono, with this legend can boost the varieties of Toono’s culture in the city, especially in the field of tourism and research of literature and folklore.
