Abstract

Today, Arabic has become a universal language spoken by more than two billion Arab and non-Arab speakers around the world. It is no longer the language of a particular people but has become a language of many nations. This development has been driven by inventions, innovations, events, ideas, and the emergence of new systems of traditions and norms, all of which require people to understand the concepts and meanings reflected in these developments. Such developments affect every language in terms of both usage and meaning, including the Arabic language. Among the linguistic elements most susceptible to change is vocabulary. Like other contemporary languages, Arabic vocabulary continues to develop over time. Although these changes may not always be noticeable within a single century, they eventually influence both the lexicon and the rules governing the language. The nature of semantic change in Arabic is distinctive. While the language possesses a stable foundation, its branches remain dynamic and capable of development. This research aims to identify the various factors that contribute to semantic change in the Arabic language. The findings indicate the existence of internal.

Abstract

There is a common belief that learning a second language involves learning rules, especially learning the correct vocabulary and pronunciation. The development of these laws in all contexts is a natural extension of grammar. Assume that the use of language is not different in the position of the first language than in the positions of multiple languages. All those required to speak a second language successfully has to activate correct formulas, which is to say the same thing as well as what native speakers said in his/her language. We often find such conditions while in the process of language learning in the classroom, which is the main driving force in learning the second language the learners are exposed to. Furthermore, one of the key to success in learning a second language is the ability to absorb (assimilation). The form of language learning process in the classroom is the concept which allows the native speakers to assess and understand the pronunciation of non-native speakers and vice versa. This program provides opportunities for interaction in the classroom and attention of all learners to the events of language learning which makes the process of second language acquisition runs successfully, especially for the learners of non-native speakers.

Abstract

This article tries to compare the issue of homeland in these two collections of poems entitled “at-Tajawwal fī al-Mawāniʾ al-Baʿīdah” by the Egyptian poet ʿArif Khudairiy and “Damai dalam Sentuhan” by Syukri Zeyn from Brunei Darussalam. Those two poets are chosen for comparative study in this research because of their backgrounds and impressions, such as the extensive cultural experience of ʿArif Khudairiy in the Malay countries, especially Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia, through which we can observe how the Malay environment affected his poetic works. As for Syukri Zeyn, he is regarded as the pioneer of modern Islamic poetry in Brunei Darussalam and possesses a strong Arabic linguistic and cultural background, having graduated from Al-Azhar University. However, the most important reason is the close relationship between the two poets. In this comparison, we have relied on the comparative descriptive analytical methodology. The methodology covers clarifying the issue of homeland in Arabic and Malay poetry, describing the backgrounds of the two poets and their collections of poems, and analyzing the issue of homeland according to each poet. It is followed by highlighting the similarities and differences in their treatment of the issue of homeland. The results show that there are similarities between the two poets in several aspects, such as the simplicity of the language used, the use of symbols and rhetorical imagery, and some of the places where the poems were written. The differences between the two poets can be seen in the purpose of their poems, the fluency of the language, and the number of stanzas and lines in their poems.

Abstract

Before discussing the parables in the Holy Qur'an, their remarkable rhetorical imagery, elevated literary styles, eloquent miraculousness, noble objectives, honorable purposes, and lofty aims, it is appropriate to first speak about the eternal Book of Allah, whose verses encompass these parables as one of the manifestations of its artistic and literary inimitability. Qur'anic parables play a significant role in Islamic da'wah because they represent one of the divine means of guidance, direction, instruction, and education. They encourage people to perform righteous deeds, inspire them to uphold virtue, and warn them against disbelief and evil.

Abstract

The present study aims to identify the degree to which students of the Faculty of Major Language Studies at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia possess e-learning skills related to Moodle and Virtual Arabic Language Classrooms. The study was conducted on a sample of 183 students, consisting of 78 male and 105 female students. The research instrument consisted of two domains: skills related to Moodle and skills related to Virtual Arabic Language Classrooms. The findings revealed that all questionnaire items represented good levels of e-learning skills among the students of the Faculty of Major Language Studies at the Islamic Science University of Malaysia. The overall level of skill mastery was high, and the students' responses indicated a high degree of competence. The researcher attributes these findings to the general perception among the students that both Moodle and Virtual Arabic Language Classrooms effectively support the teaching and learning of the Arabic language. The results also confirm the importance of these learning platforms in creating positive learning experiences while encouraging and motivating students to support one another throughout the learning process.

Abstract

The eighth century of the Hijri era witnessed the emergence of a prominent scholarly figure in Arabic grammar, namely Imam al-Shāṭibī (may Allah have mercy on him). He was distinguished among the grammarians of his time by his independent approach to grammatical research and the verification of grammatical issues. He authored a work on Arabic grammar and morphology entitled Al-Maqāṣid al-Shāfiyah fī Sharḥ al-Alfiyyah li Ibn Mālik. This study aims to clarify Imam al-Shāṭibī’s critical perspective on the construction of the imperative verb (fiʿl al-amr) and the grammatical ruling of the present tense verb (fiʿl al-muḍāriʿ) when accompanied by the direct emphatic nūn (Nūn al-Tawkīd al-Mubāsyirah) and the feminine nūn (Nūn al-Niswah) by employing the analytical method. The study compares the opinions of scholars regarding these grammatical issues based on classical works of grammar, morphology, linguistics, and rhetoric, while evaluating and giving preference to the strongest opinions. The study finds that scholars have expressed various views on these issues. Imam al-Shāṭibī maintained that the imperative verb is built on sukūn (quiescence) unless it is a defective verb (muʿtall), presenting both criticism and refutation of the numerous opposing opinions. The study concludes that his view is the strongest because of the soundness of its evidence and its ability to withstand counterarguments.

Abstract

Behaviorism is one of the major theories in psychology that focuses on observable human behavior. One of the principal characteristics of the behaviorist theory of learning is the central role of the teacher in transmitting knowledge to learners, together with its firm emphasis on the conditioning of linguistic behavior through operant conditioning and stimulus-response associations. Based on these characteristics, behaviorist theory gave rise to behaviorist approaches and teaching methods. The application of behaviorist theory was later extended to become a theory of language learning and language teaching. Among the instructional methods derived from this theory are the Direct Method and the Audio-Lingual Method. The Audio-Lingual Method contains a number of behavioral elements that every language teacher should possess and apply effectively. Through this study, the researchers attempt to identify and explain these behavioral elements in a comprehensive and systematic manner.
