Abstract

Death is the final process of human life. In the course of a typical human lifespan, old age represents the final stage before death. The elderly’s perception of death varies significantly among individuals and is influenced by various factors, including previous experiences of loss, closeness to significant others, and living arrangements—whether residing with family or in a nursing home. This study aims to explore and analyze the perceptions of older adults regarding death at the Social Welfare Institution (LKS) LU Pangesti Lawang. Death is a topic often avoided in conversation, yet it is essential to understand, particularly among elderly individuals living in institutional settings. As a group that is inherently closer to the end of life, the elderly's perception of death may greatly affect their psychological well-being. This research employed a qualitative method using a phenomenological approach to understand the subjective experiences of older adults in interpreting death. The participants consisted of seven elderly individuals residing in LKS LU Pangesti Lawang, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observation, then analyzed using thematic analysis to identify the main themes related to their perceptions of death. The findings revealed six main themes that address the specific objectives of the study: Emotional unrest, End of life, Changes in perspective, Hopes for life after death, Frailty, Death as destiny Each of these six themes comprises several sub-themes, which were derived from categories and key phrases in participants’ responses to the research questions.

Abstract

Burnout is a form of work exhaustion experienced by nurses, whether physically, emotionally or mentally. The tendency for nurses to experience burnout at work will affect the quality of nursing services. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of self-efficacy guidance on burnout among nurses at the Panti WilasaCitarum Hospital. The research method used was a quasi-experiment, with all nurses at the Panti WilasaCitarum Hospital as respondents. The sample used cluster sampling, taken from 20 nurses in the Cempaka room as the treatment group and 20 nurses in the Dahlia room as the control group. The research instrument used a self-efficacy guidance module and a burnout syndrome questionnaire with a significant correlation level of 0.01 (2-tailed) and Cronbach's alpha reliability of 0.96. The results of the study stated that the level of burnout syndrome in nurses after self-efficacy guidance was found to have decreased significantly by 35% after the self-efficacy guidance treatment. This shows that there is an influence between burnout syndrome and self-efficacy guidance. This study proved to reduce the levels of emotional exhaustion, physical exhaustion, depersonalisation, and reduced self-achievement with a Sign value of 0.000 less than 0.05.

Abstract

The low coverage of D/S (Simultaneous Arrival and Weighing) at integrated health posts (Posyandu) indicates underutilization of services by mothers of toddlers. Maternal knowledge, as a predisposing factor, plays a significant role in influencing visiting behavior at Posyandus. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal knowledge about Posyandus and D/S coverage in the Central Fakfak Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted from July to August 2025 at four Posyandus: Mawar, Kayu Merah Village, Dahlia, Melati, and Krawera, Air Besar Village, Central Fakfak Regency. The study population was all mothers with toddlers registered at these Posyandus. A sample of 70 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula with purposive sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The dependent variable was D/S coverage. The independent variable was maternal knowledge about Posyandus. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, as well as documentation from Posyandu registers for D/S coverage data. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The results showed a moderately significant positive correlation between maternal knowledge and D/S coverage in the Central Fakfak Community Health Center Work Area in 2025 (r = 0.36; p = 0.002). The higher the maternal knowledge, the better the coverage of health services received by toddlers, indicating the importance of education and information in improving child health. There is a significant positive correlation between maternal knowledge and D/S coverage in the Central Fakfak Community Health Center Work Area in 2025.

Abstract

Anthropometric measurements and completing the Child development cardat integrated health posts (Posyandu) are essential components of monitoring toddler growth and development. In the Fakfak Tengah Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area, measurement coverage only reached 47.13%, and most KKA completions were still carried out by nutrition workers, with errors being found among the cadres. This situation indicates the need to improve cadre capacity. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between Posyandu cadres' knowledge level and their skills in anthropometric measurement and KKA completion. The study used a quantitative, observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 76 cadres was purposively selected from 19 Posyandus in the Fakfak Tengah Community Health Center work area from July to August 2025. The independent variable was the cadres' knowledge level regarding Posyandu services, while the dependent variables were their skills in anthropometric measurement and KKA completion. The research instruments consisted of a knowledge questionnaire and a skills observation sheet. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis to describe respondent characteristics, and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test to test relationships between variables at a 95% significance level (p<0.05). The results showed that Posyandu cadre knowledge was associated with anthropometric measurements (OR = 3.26; 95% CI: 1.11–9.57; p = 0.028), and completion of the Child development card (7.17 (95% CI: 1.41–36.50); p = 0.014). Posyandu cadre knowledge was associated with anthropometric measurements and completion of the child development card.

Abstract

Patient safety is a priority in improving the quality of healthcare services, with patient identification serving as a critical initial step to prevent medical errors. RSUD Sungai Lilin reported 100% compliance with patient identification; however, observations indicated that practices were not consistently implemented. This study aimed to analyse the influence of knowledge, attitude, and motivation on staff compliance with patient identification procedures at RSUD Sungai Lilin, Musi Banyuasin Regency, in 2025. A quantitative design was employed using an observational analytic survey with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through questionnaires using a total sampling method involving 186 healthcare providers directly delivering patient care, as well as secondary data from the administrative department. The validity test results showed that all questionnaire items had r-values greater than the r-table value of 0.301 and Cronbach’s Alpha values greater than 0.6. The analysis assessed the relationship between the independent variables (knowledge, attitude, motivation) and the dependent variable (compliance with patient identification). The findings revealed that most personnel possessed good knowledge, demonstrated positive attitudes, and exhibited supportive work motivation. Compliance was generally high, although inconsistencies were observed under certain conditions. Statistical tests indicated significant associations between knowledge (p = 0.020), attitude (p = 0.009), and motivation (p = 0.009) with compliance. Motivation emerged as the dominant factor influencing adherence to patient identification. It is concluded that compliance with patient identification is influenced by knowledge, attitude, and motivation, with motivation representing the primary determinant.

Abstract

Postpartum mothers’ independence in meeting self-care needs is an important indicator of maternal recovery and well-being. This study aimed to analyze the factors related to the level of independence among postpartum mothers in fulfilling self-care needs. A cross-sectional design was conducted in the Delima Ward of RSD Kertosono from January to May 2023, involving 91 postpartum mothers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire adapted from Nursalam (2020), which covered aspects of nutrition, activity, personal hygiene, perineal care, breast care, and elimination. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test to examine the relationship between independent variables (age, birth order, type of delivery, education, and information sources) and independence. The results showed that the majority of respondents were aged 25-35 years (42.9%) and primiparous (47.3%). Nearly half were categorized as dependent (47.3%), 34.1% needed assistance, and only 18.7% were independent. Type of delivery demonstrated the strongest association with independence (p=0.000; r=0.549), followed by education level (r=0.499) and information sources (r=0.449). Mothers who had spontaneous deliveries and higher education levels exhibited greater independence. In conclusion, type of delivery, education level, and information sources were identified as the dominant factors influencing postpartum mothers’ independence.

Abstract

Hypertension remains one of the major health issues worldwide. More women than men suffer from hypertension. Hypertension is not only caused by physical factors and lifestyle but is also significantly influenced by psychological factors such as stress. Stress can increase blood pressure and affect a person's physical and psychological functions, leading to a decline in their quality of life. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction is one physical and psychological strategy that has been shown to be successful in treating hypertension individuals. Finding out how mindfulness-based stress reduction affected the blood pressure and quality of life of hypertensive women in Pustu Nglaban, Nglaban Village, Loceret Subdistrict, Nganjuk District, was the goal of this study. This study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pre-post test methodology. The sample consisted of 30 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Standard operating procedures (SOP) were used to execute mindfulness-based stress reduction, a Onemed blood pressure monitor was used to measure blood pressure, and the WHOQOL BREFF questionnaire was used to evaluate quality of life. The WHOQOL BREFF questionnaire has high validity and reliability for measuring quality of life in adolescents, adults and the elderly namely r=0.949 and cronbach’s alpha 0.835. A paired-t test was used to analyze the data. Blood pressure and quality of life in women with hypertension are impacted by mindfulness-based stress reduction, according to the data analysis results, which indicated p-values of 0.000 for systolic blood pressure, 0.000 for diastolic blood pressure, and 0.000 for quality of life. For women with hypertension, mindfulness-based stress reduction is believed to be an alternate self-management treatment.
