Abstract

Background: The low level of literacy and numeracy among primary school students in Indonesia highlights the need for contextual and engaging learning media that reflect local culture. Conventional teaching methods often fail to capture students’ interest and do not integrate local wisdom effectively. Aim: This research aims to develop and test an interactive animation-based learning media using Central Kalimantan folktales to enhance students’ literacy and numeracy skills in primary education. Method: The study employs a research and development (R&D) approach by designing, validating, and testing a digital prototype that combines animation, narration, and interactivity. Expert validation was conducted to refine the prototype, followed by pilot testing in selected partner schools in Central Kalimantan. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and learning assessments, and analyzed descriptively to evaluate the media’s effectiveness in improving learning outcomes. Results and Discussion: The results indicate that the interactive animation media successfully increased students’ engagement and motivation, leading to higher literacy and numeracy achievement compared to traditional learning tools. Teachers reported that the integration of local folktales provided meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences while reinforcing students’ cultural identity. The discussion emphasizes the potential of culturally grounded digital media to support the thematic learning approach in the Merdeka Curriculum and contribute to the preservation of local culture. Conclusion: The research concludes that the developed interactive animation learning media based on Central Kalimantan folktales is effective in enhancing primary school students’ literacy and numeracy skills. It also demonstrates significant potential for large-scale implementation, commercialization, and collaboration with the creative industry, reaching Technology Readiness Level 5 as a foundation for sustainable dissemination.

Abstract

Background: In today's era of globalization, English has become a crucial means of communication in various fields such as education, technology, and international relations. Consequently, the demand for effective and engaging English language learning methods continues to grow. One supplementary learning method that is gaining popularity is the use of English-language films. Films provide exposure to authentic language use, including vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, intonation, and cultural elements not always available in textbooks. Through repeated exposure to dialogue and visual context, learners can improve their listening comprehension, speaking fluency, and overall language awareness. Aim: The purpose of this study was to analyze the extent to which English-language film media influences learners' speaking skills. Method: This study is a bibliometric study conducted by analyzing scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025 using the Google Scholar database. The analysis process was carried out using software to visualize relationships between keywords, research trends, and author collaborations. Results and Dıscussion: The results of the study indicate that there are twelve dominant keywords grouped into two main categories. The keyword "film" emerged as a central term in the first group, closely related to the keywords "learning media," "students," and "skills," indicating its role as a learning tool. Meanwhile, the second group is dominated by the keywords "English," "influence," and "skills," reflecting the research focus on the impact of film media on English language proficiency. The total strength of the associations of 326 and 61 keyword relationships indicate a high level of thematic relevance among the analyzed studies.

Abstract

Background: The Society 5.0 era demands fundamental transformation in educational paradigms through integration of cyberphysical systems, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics. Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) faces challenges in integrating national values with global citizenship demands, requiring English-based instruction and futuristic technological support. MAS Darul Amin Palangka Raya encounters strategic challenges in implementing English-based PPKn learning while harmonizing Islamic-Indonesian values with international standards. Aim: This research aims to map readiness levels and analyze factors influencing English-based PPKn learning implementation supported by futuristic technology in the Society 5.0 era at MAS Darul Amin Palangka Raya. Method: This study employed mixed-methods with sequential explanatory design. The quantitative phase utilized Technology Readiness for Futuristic Learning (TRFL) questionnaire adapted from Technology Readiness Index 2.0, involving 201 respondents through proportional stratified random sampling. The qualitative phase conducted semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with 12 purposively selected informants. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U Test, and thematic analysis following Miles, Huberman, and Saldana framework. Results and Dıscussion: Findings revealed aggregate Technology Readiness Index (TRI) score of 2.74 (moderate category), with high optimism (3.42) balanced by security concerns (3.07) and implementation discomfort (2.89). Significant disparities existed between groups, with Grade 10 students showing highest readiness (2.89) while teachers scored lowest (2.45). Qualitative exploration identified six themes: technology perceptions, infrastructure capacity, cultural resistance, learning expectations, security concerns, and implementation preferences. Integration analysis confirmed convergence on ambivalent readiness and age-related gaps, revealing divergence between theoretical optimism and practical concerns. Conclusion: MAS Darul Amin Palangka Raya demonstrates conditional readiness requiring phased implementation addressing infrastructure limitations, teacher capacity building, cultural adaptation, and equity considerations for sustainable transformation toward Society 5.0 educational paradigm. Abstract

Background: Students' social competence tends to be lacking in the learning process. Students are lacking in communication, even do not appear to empathize, appreciate differences, and resolve conflicts positively. Teachers often use the lecture method and do not use a guided learning model related to self-esteem. Students lack local wisdom in instilling in the character of elementary school students. Aim: to develop a learning model related to student self-esteem, namely the Self Esteem Scaffolding model. This model will be developed with local wisdom that shows collaboration supported by local cultural values with teacher guidance. Method: a development model adapted from Plomp (1997). The development model adapted by Plomp has five main stages, namely: (1) Initial investigation or initial study; (2) Design, (3) Realization/Construction; (4) Expert validation test, trial, evaluation, and revision; and (5) Implementation. Based on the results of the initial study, a design of the Local Wisdom-Based Self Esteem Scaffolding model was prepared. The model design in this study includes: (1) model book design; (2) learning component design (student books, teaching modules, LKPD); and (3) instrument design to obtain data in the model development process. Results and Discussion: The development of the Local Wisdom-Based Self Esteem Scaffolding model has been tested for validity with a percentage result of 91% and a practicality result of 93%. The learning model design used, namely the local wisdom-based self-esteem scaffolding model on the topic of Lamongan City Cultural Values, proves that the learning model related to local wisdom is able to improve students' social skills as evidenced by an increase from cycle I of 47.3% and cycle II of 91.7%. Conclusion: the development of the Local Wisdom-Based Self Esteem Scaffolding Model is considered feasible and can improve students' social skills.

Abstract

Background: Experimental learning combined with a pedagogical through deep learning approach is a new activity in elementary school. This deep learning approach in pedagogic activities encourages students to conduct experiments in the classroom through Sciences subjects. Aim: This study aims to improve science subject outcomes and learning motivation by using experimental methods and pedagogical through deep learning approaches. Method: This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which conducted in two cycles. Each cycle is conducted twice. The number of subjects in this consisting of eighteen students. Data collection was using tests and non-tests. Data collection instruments were test items, observation sheets, and document checklists. Data analysis techniques were descriptive comparative analysis techniques and critical analysis. The results of this study in the first cycle are student learning outcomes showing that ten students who have not reached the Minimum Completion Criteria, while eight students have reached the Minimum Completion Criteria. Result: The results of observations of student learning motivation show that the percentage of science learning motivation is in sufficient category. The results of the study in the second cycle are that only two students are incomplete Minimum Completion Criteria, and sixteen students are declared complete. The results of observations of the learning motivation of fourth grade students at Klumprit State Elementary School shows that the total average percentage of motivation to learn science is being increase. Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the Experimental Method with a pedagogical deep learning approach can improve students’ learning outcomes and motivation in Science in fourth-grade at elementary school.

Abstract

Background: Science learning in elementary schools still faces challenges because many materials—particularly energy concepts—are abstract and difficult for students to understand, resulting in low learning outcomes. This condition requires learning media that provide more interactive and meaningful learning experiences. Aim: This study aims to examine the effect of using Edpuzzle as an interactive video-based learning medium supported by a deep learning approach, which in this study refers to deep conceptual learning rather than the use of artificial intelligence algorithms. Method: The research employed a quantitative method with a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 30 fourth-grade students from SDN Banjaragung 3 Jombang. The research instrument consisted of validated and reliable multiple-choice learning outcome tests, and the data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test at a 0.05 significance level. The findings show a significant increase in students’ average scores, rising from 58.20 on the pretest to 82.40 on the posttest. Prerequisite tests confirmed that the data met normality and homogeneity assumptions, while hypothesis testing produced a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a meaningful difference between pretest and posttest scores. Therefore, the use of Edpuzzle supported by a deep conceptual learning approach is effective in improving students’ understanding of energy concepts and their science learning outcomes.

Abstract

Background: It is necessary to develop teaching modules involving SEL for junior high school students, so this study innovates by developing SEL-based teaching modules. Aim: (1) describe the process of developing the Cabe Gemoi teaching module for ninth-grade students at Satu Atap 6 Menthobi Raya Junior High School; (2) test the feasibility of the Cabe Gemoi teaching module for ninth-grade students at Satu Atap 6 Menthobi Raya Junior High School; (3) test the practicality of the Cabe Gemoi teaching module for ninth-grade students at Satu Atap 6 Menthobi Raya Junior High School; (4) testing the effectiveness of the Cabe Gemoi teaching module in improving communication, empathy, cooperation, and emotion management skills for ninth-grade students at Satu Atap 6 Menthobi Raya Junior High School. Method: This research was a research and development study using the ADDIE model. The respondents in the small-scale test were ninth-grade students at Satu Atap 6 Menthobi Raya Junior High School, and the large-scale test was conducted with ninth-grade students at 2 Menthobi Raya Junior High School. Data collection was carried out using observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The data were processed by using qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. Results and Dıscussion: (1) The development process used the ADDIE model, which began with analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The analysis used observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The design included the design of teaching modules and research instruments. Development used Canva and Microsoft Word and was then tested by experts. Implementation included small-scale and large-scale testing. Evaluation is carried out by testing the effectiveness of the teaching module. (2) The Cabe Gemoi teaching module is considered feasible through expert media validation testing (91.07) in the highly suitable category and subject matter experts (88.04) in the suitable category. (3) The Cabe Gemoi teaching module is considered practical with a score of 87.85 in the suitable category. (4) The Cabe Gemoi teaching module was deemed low effective with a n-gain value 0,29; however, based on students’ score, there is an improvement in attitude and emotional. Conclusion: Cabe Gemoi Teaching Module assisted SEL which was developed for ninth grade students of Menthobi Raya Junior High School can improve how to communicate, empathize, cooperate, and emotion management.

Abstract

Background This study investigates the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model and students’ critical thinking skills on science learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. The research employed an experimental method with a 2×2 factorial design, involving two independent variable learning models (PjBL) and conventional learning) and critical thinking skills (high and low) and one dependent variable, namely science learning outcomes. The participants consisted of 67 fifth-grade students from SDN Pejaten Barat 06, South Jakarta, divided into an experimental group (34 students) and a control group (33 students). Data were collected using science learning outcome tests, critical thinking questionnaires, observation sheets, interviews, and documentation. Instrument validity and reliability were tested prior to data analysis. The data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and t-tests with the assistance of SPSS. The results showed that the application of the Project-Based Learning model had a significant positive effect on students’ science learning outcomes. The experimental group achieved a higher average posttest score (92.13) compared to the control group (77.39). Students’ critical thinking skills also significantly influenced learning outcomes, with students who demonstrated high critical thinking skills achieving better results than those with lower levels. Furthermore, the analysis revealed a significant interaction between the PjBL model and critical thinking skills on science learning outcomes, indicating that PjBL is more effective when accompanied by the development of students’ critical thinking abilities. In conclusion, the Project-Based Learning model integrated with critical thinking development is effective in improving science learning outcomes, promoting active participation, collaboration, and higher-order thinking skills. This learning model is recommended as an innovative instructional approach to enhance the quality of science learning in elementary schools in accordance with 21st-century educational demands.

Abstract

Background: The development of the digital era has transformed student financial management patterns, particularly in the use of financial literacy media and lifestyle development. As future educators, students at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education are required to possess sound and responsible financial management skills. Aim: This study aims to analyze the influence of the use of financial literacy and lifestyle media on the financial management of FKIP students at Muhammadiyah University. Method: The study employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The study population consisted of 439 students, with a sample of 148 respondents selected using probability sampling techniques. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, and then analyzed using multiple linear regression. Result and Disscusions: The results showed that the use of financial literacy media had a positive and significant effect on student financial management. Meanwhile, lifestyle had a significant negative effect, indicating that a tendency toward a consumptive lifestyle decreases the quality of financial management. Simultaneously, the use of financial literacy media and lifestyle significantly influenced student financial management, contributing 49.3%. These findings underscore the importance of improving financial literacy and lifestyle management to foster healthy and sustainable student financial behavior.

Abstract

Background: English is an important subject to teach at the primary school level because students are in the golden age, a critical period for developing language abilities. In the Merdeka Curriculum, English is provided as an elective subject for two lesson hours per week. However, problems were found at West Kelayan 3 Elementary School, including students' low English proficiency, and the teacher's lack of understanding of Curriculum Merdeka-based learning in planning, implementation, and evaluation. Aim: This research aims to describe the implementation of English learning based on the Curriculum Merdeka at West Kelayan 3 Elementary School. Method: This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The data sources were the principal, the English teacher, and grade IV students of West Kelayan 3 Elementary School. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively to make conclusions. Result and Discussion: The results of this research indicate that Curriculum Merdeka-based English learning consists the following aspects: (1) teachers prepare the Learning Objective Flow (ATP) and lesson plans adapted from the internet and books; (2) learning implementation consists three stages, introduction, core activities, and closing using lecture method and drill method; (3) Evaluation is conducted at the end of the learning process. The learning tools used include student worksheets developed by the teacher or adapted from books. Remedial activities are provided for students who have not achieved the minimum level of learning mastery. Conclusion: Based on the results of this research and the discussion on the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum-based English Learning in grade IV at West Kelayan 3 Elementary School, it can be concluded that the learning process has been implemented through several systematic stages.
