Abstract

This study examines the factors influencing Generation Z’s intention and use behavior toward mobile-based mutual fund investment applications, integrating UTAUT2 constructs, financial literacy, and habit. A quantitative approach was employed through a purposive survey of 203 app users in Jakarta. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 4 to assess relationships among variables. The results indicate that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, price value, and financial literacy positively affect behavioral intention. Habit does not significantly influence behavioral intention but has a direct effect on use behavior, highlighting the role of automaticity and behavioral inertia, where habitual behavior drives actions without conscious intention. Behavioral intention remains the main predictor of use behavior, while other factors such as facilitating conditions, financial literacy, hedonic motivation, price value, and habit also exert direct effects on usage. The findings provide several practical implications for platform managers and regulators, including the development of digital financial literacy programs, the enhancement of system convenience, and collaborative educational campaigns with regulatory bodies such as OJK or BEI. In addition, the study contributes to the literature on UTAUT2 and digital investment behavior among Generation Z in the Southeast Asian context, particularly in understanding the roles of habit and financial literacy. This study is limited to mobile mutual fund app users in Jakarta, so generalization to the broader Generation Z population or other investment instruments should be done with caution.

Abstract

The increasing emphasis on sustainable finance has encouraged banking institutions to integrate environmental considerations into their business operations through green banking practices. However, empirical evidence regarding the organizational factors that drive green banking implementation remains limited, particularly concerning the roles of transformational leadership, Green Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (GOCB), and environmental awareness. This study aims to examine the effect of transformational leadership on green banking, with GOCB serving as a mediating variable and environmental awareness as a moderating variable. A quantitative approach was employed using descriptive and verification methods. Data were collected from 120 respondents selected through a saturated sampling technique and analysed using Structural Equation Modelling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on both green banking and GOCB. In addition, GOCB significantly mediates the relationship between transformational leadership and green banking, demonstrating the importance of employees’ voluntary pro-environmental behaviour in supporting sustainable banking initiatives. Conversely, environmental awareness does not significantly moderate the relationship between GOCB and green banking, suggesting that individual awareness alone is insufficient to strengthen green banking implementation without organizational support mechanisms. These findings highlight the critical role of leadership and employee behaviour in advancing sustainable banking practices. This study contributes to the green banking literature by providing an integrated model that explains how transformational leadership influences green banking through GOCB while simultaneously examining the moderating role of environmental awareness in the banking sector.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and corporate cash holdings by investigating the mediating role of firm efficiency among Indonesian non-financial firms from 2018 through 2022. Using 405 firm-year observations and a mediation-based panel regression analysis, we address the ongoing debate regarding whether ESG practices reduce or increase firms’ incentives to retain cash. The findings reveal that, while ESG performance does not directly affect corporate cash holdings, it significantly improves firm efficiency, and this improvement subsequently has a significant positive effect on cash holdings, indicating full mediation. Thus, ESG practices indirectly influence corporate liquidity policy by enhancing operational capability rather than solely through direct governance effects. More importantly, the positive relationship between firm efficiency and cash holdings indicates that operationally efficient firms tend to maintain large cash reserves as a form of strategic financial flexibility, so these cash reserves are not necessarily evidence of agency problems or inefficient resource allocation. In the context of emerging markets such as Indonesia’s, where external financing conditions remain relatively costly and volatile, efficient firms may intentionally accumulate cash to support sustainability investments, maintain resilience, and mitigate future financing constraints. This study contributes to the ESG-finance literature by highlighting the role of firm efficiency as an important transmission mechanism linking ESG practices and corporate liquidity policy, and it also provides evidence that cash holdings in emerging markets may reflect strategic preparedness and internal financing capacity rather than managerial opportunism.

Abstract

Purchases of blind box products among Generation Z indicate a tendency toward impulsive buying driven by uncertainty regarding product contents. This study aims to examine the effect of perceived uncertainty on impulse buying and to test the roles of curiosity as a mediating variable and perceived luck as a moderating variable. This research adopts a quantitative design. Data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed to Generation Z blind box consumers aged 18–28 years in Indonesia and analysed using PLS-SEM. The results show that perceived uncertainty has a positive and significant effect on both impulse buying and curiosity. However, curiosity does not have a significant effect on impulse buying and therefore does not mediate the relationship between perceived uncertainty and impulse buying. In addition, perceived luck does not significantly moderate the relationship between perceived uncertainty and impulse buying. The findings indicate that product uncertainty can directly trigger impulsive buying behaviour without the involvement of curiosity or perceived luck.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of digital financial literacy, peer influence, self-control, and lifestyle on the saving behavior of Generation Z K-Pop fans in Java. The research method used is quantitative with a correlational approach. The research population is Generation Z K-Pop fans in Java, with sampling using non-probability snowball sampling. Data was collected through an online questionnaire and 220 respondents who met the research criteria were obtained. Data analysis was performed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with the help of SmartPLS software version 4.1.1.4. The results showed that digital financial literacy and peer influence did not affect on saving behavior. Meanwhile, self-control and lifestyle had a positive and significant effect on the saving behaviour of Generation Z K-Pop fans in Java. This study contributes by explaining saving behavior within fandom-based consumption contexts, where financial decisions are driven by both emotional attachment and planned saving strategies. The practical implications emphasize the importance of continuous and inclusive financial education initiatives led by regulators, alongside improved accessibility and quality of banking services to support effective financial management. Additionally, the findings suggest the K-pop industry can contribute by providing secure, flexible payment features that encourage responsible financial planning, thereby helping individuals minimize financial risks and make more structured spending decisions.

Abstract

This study was motivated by a decline in employee productivity, reflected in a drop in revenue per full-time equivalent (FTE) from USD 1.62 million in 2023 to USD 1.44 million in 2024, alongside an increase in employee costs per FTE from USD 176,000 to USD 212,000. Consequently, this study analyzes the mediating role of employee engagement in the relationship between education and training programs, employer branding, and employee performance within an oil and gas company. A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing primary data collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires distributed to 89 employees of the oil and gas company. The variables examined included education and training, employer branding, employee engagement, and employee performance; hypotheses were tested using the SEM-PLS method with SmartPLS 4.0 software. The findings indicate that education and training, employer branding, and employee engagement all have a positive effect on employee performance; furthermore, education and training and employer branding positively influence employee engagement. The study also reveals that employee engagement positively and significantly mediates the impact of education and training and employer branding on employee performance. These results suggest that enhancing employee performance within the company depends not only on competency development and corporate image but also on the extent to which these factors translate into psychological attachment and work dedication among employees.

Abstract

The transformation of higher education institutions into public universities with legal entity status has driven changes in organizational governance that demand greater professionalism and performance from faculty members. This study offers a unique approach by integrating organizational structure and organizational culture into a single research model that examines employee performance through job satisfaction as a mediating variable. This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational structure and organizational culture on employee performance through job satisfaction. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. The study population consists of academic staff at the university’s central office in Malang, with a sample of 201 respondents selected using random sampling techniques. Data were collected via a questionnaire that had passed validity and reliability tests, then analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results indicate that organizational structure and organizational culture have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Organizational structure has a positive but insignificant effect on employee performance, while organizational culture and job satisfaction have positive and significant effects on employee performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction was found to act as a mediator in the relationship between organizational structure and organizational culture and employee performance. This study highlights the importance of strengthening an adaptive organizational structure and a supportive organizational culture in order to sustainably improve job satisfaction and the performance of educational staff.
