Abstract

Purpose: designing a small-scale solar power plant system that suits the solar potential in coastal areas to meet the lighting needs of docks and public facilities. Method: this research uses descriptive-quantitative methods through field measurements, engineering calculations, and system design to produce a small-scale solar power plant design that meets the lighting needs of docks and public facilities in coastal areas. Findings: research has found that Kuala Tungkal has significant solar energy potential for solar power plants. A 200 Wp panel produces 730–970 Wh per day, and for a typical home, 16 solar panels and 13 batteries are required. However, weather and cost are significant constraints. Implications: solar power plants have significant development potential in coastal areas and can increase community energy independence. However, they require appropriate design, sufficient batteries, and financial and technological support to address weather and initial investment challenges. Originality: providing field data on solar radiation in Kuala Tungkal, modeling the design of a small-scale solar power plant based on real conditions, and producing practical calculations of panel and battery requirements specifically intended for piers and coastal public facilities, which has not been widely studied before.

Abstract

Purpose: to examine the integration of digital marketing strategies and green economy-based financing in supporting the sustainable financial performance of MSMEs. Method: this study uses a qualitative literature review approach. Data were obtained from observations and relevant scientific publications, then analyzed descriptively to examine the role of green economy-based digital marketing in the development of MSMEs. Findings: the study shows that integrating green economy–based digital marketing with financing strategies enhances MSMEs' competitiveness, strengthens brand image, expands market reach, and improves financial performance, supported by government digitalization and financing programs. Implications: integrating the green economy, digital marketing, and sustainable financing can improve MSME competitiveness, brand image, and financial performance. Digital marketing strategies and government support through digitalization and green financing expand markets and consumer engagement. These findings form the basis of a conceptual model for competitive and sustainable MSME growth, particularly in Jambi. Originality: this study is the first to integrate financing strategies, green-economy-based digital marketing, and MSME financial performance, highlighting their synergy in enhancing competitiveness and sustainability, and offering practical insights for government and financial institutions in Jambi.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the influence of understanding, environment, service, and performance on the interest of ethnic Chinese individuals in using Islamic banking products. Method: The study employs a descriptive quantitative approach. The data consist of primary data obtained through questionnaires and secondary data gathered from literature studies. The population of this study comprises customers of Bank Syariah Indonesia's Selatpanjang Branch Office in Meranti Regency, Riau. The sampling technique applied was purposive sampling, with the criterion being active customers of Chinese ethnicity. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regressions, along with validity, reliability, classical assumption, and hypothesis testing. Findings: The results indicate that understanding, service, and performance have a positive effect on the interest of ethnic Chinese individuals in using Islamic banking products, whereas the environment has a negative effect. Implications: Theoretically, the findings of this study complement existing theories and support the Theory of Planned Behavior, Cognitive Theory, and Social Influence Theory. Practically, the results serve as a reference for Islamic banking institutions to improve service quality, performance, and public understanding. Originality: The originality of this research lies in its focus on ethnic Chinese individuals as a non-Muslim group in the context of Islamic banking, the discovery of negative environmental effects, and the development of an integrative model that combines the variables of understanding, environment, service, and performance in relation to interest in using Islamic banking products.

Abstract

Purpose: to analyze and empirically test the influence of the Rector's leadership practices on the level of employee job satisfaction at Batanghari University, Jambi. Method: this study employed a quantitative, survey-based approach. The study population comprised all 80 administrative staff at Batanghari University in Jambi, using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis to examine the effect of leadership practices on employee job satisfaction. Findings: the research results show that the Rector's leadership practices have a positive and significant impact on employee job satisfaction at Batanghari University, Jambi. This finding suggests that leadership practices play a significant role in improving employee job satisfaction. Implications: this study strengthens organizational behavior theory and the Kouzes and Posner model regarding the influence of leadership on job satisfaction. Practically, organizations need to implement effective leadership to improve employee job satisfaction. Originality: lies in the empirical testing of the Rector's leadership practices on the job satisfaction of administrative staff in the context of private universities in Jambi Province, an area that is still rarely researched, especially at Batanghari University, Jambi.

Abstract

Purpose: to present a comprehensive and integrative analysis that explains how evolutionary changes shaped human cognition, behavior, and social complexity. This article examines the historical development of early human evolution as a multidisciplinary inquiry into biological transformation, technological progress, and cultural emergence from Homo erectus to Homo sapiens. Method: A descriptive qualitative approach is used, supported by a systematic literature review, drawing on paleoanthropological findings, the archaeological record, and interdisciplinary theoretical frameworks. Findings: human evolution was not linear but dynamic, influenced by environmental adaptation, migration patterns, controlled fire use, lithic technological innovation, and the development of symbolic thought and language. These findings highlight the gradual emergence of cultural intelligence as a defining feature of modern humans. Implications: understanding human evolutionary pathways provides valuable insights into contemporary scientific discourse on identity, civilisation, and humanity's adaptive characteristics in facing future global challenges. Originality: lies in its integrative synthesis, connecting biological evolution with cultural and cognitive dimensions to offer a holistic perspective rarely emphasised in conventional discussions of human origins.

Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the strategy of strengthening the cultural identity of the Zapin Meskom dance in maintaining its authenticity amidst the currents of globalization and modernization in Meskom village, Bengkalis district, Riau province. Method: this study used a qualitative case study approach. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies with purposively selected informants. The data obtained were analyzed using thematic analysis and triangulation to ensure the validity and reliability of the research findings. Findings: the preservation of the Zapin Meskom dance as a cultural identity is achieved through educational and regeneration strategies, cultural rituals, and adaptation through digital media. The success of this strategy depends on collaboration among indigenous communities, artists, educational institutions, and the government to maintain the dance's authenticity amid globalization. Implications: strengthening community-based local cultural preservation strategies that place education, cultural rituals, and digital adaptation as key elements in maintaining the authenticity of cultural identity amid globalization. Originality: lies in the analysis of the preservation strategy of Zapin Meskom dance as a process of strengthening dynamic cultural identity through education, rituals, and digital adaptation, as well as in its study in the context of cultural tourism villages amid the current tide of globalization.

Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the level of digital literacy among students of the Biology Education Study Program and to examine its implications for technology-based learning. Method: this research employed a descriptive quantitative approach with purposively selected participants. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire covering five dimensions of digital literacy: information, communication, content creation, social-emotional, and problem solving. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating mean scores and categorizing literacy levels. Findings: the results indicate that students' overall digital literacy was at a moderate level, with high proficiency in the information and social-emotional dimensions, moderate communication and content-creation skills, and very high problem-solving ability, highlighting the need to strengthen academic digital communication and content creation for learning. Implications: this study implies the need for comprehensive digital literacy development of Biology Education students, including communication skills, content creation, and digital information evaluation, as a basis for strengthening the curriculum and technology-based learning to improve the readiness of prospective biology teachers. Originality: lies in the analysis of digital literacy among Biology Education students based on five DigComp dimensions, which are directly linked to the needs of technology-based biology learning, thereby revealing gaps between technical skills, communication abilities, and academic content creation.

Abstract

Purpose: this study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the jarimatika "fingermath" method in improving multiplication skills and learning interest in mathematics among third-grade elementary school students. Method: this research employed a quantitative, quasi-experimental, one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants consisted of 17 third-grade students. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments of multiplication skills and analyzed using descriptive statistics, a paired-samples t-test, and effect size (Cohen's d). Findings: show that the jarimatika method can improve multiplication calculation skills and foster interest and engagement in learning mathematics among third-grade elementary school students. However, the increase in learning outcomes is not yet statistically significant. Implications: this research theoretically strengthens mathematics learning through a concrete approach, while also practically demonstrating that the jarimatika method can increase student activity, interest, and understanding, and can serve as a basis for developing innovative learning media. Originality: lies in the application of the jarimatika method, which simultaneously examines the improvement of multiplication calculation skills and the learning interest of third-grade students in madrasah ibtidaiyah, with a concrete learning approach that is in accordance with the characteristics of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

Purpose: to describe the history and development of the Zapin pecah dua belas dance, analyze the movement structure that forms the dance, and identify the educational values contained within it as part of the preservation of Riau Malay culture. Method: this study used a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection was conducted through non-participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation at the Bina Tasik Studio in Pangkalan Kerinci District, Pelalawan Regency. Research informants included dance instructors, senior dancers, traditional leaders, and arts and culture teachers. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using triangulation techniques to ensure data validity. Findings: the Zapin pecah dua belas dance is a traditional Riau Malay dance resulting from the acculturation of Arab and local cultures. It has twelve basic movements arranged systematically. The dominance of fast, rhythmic footwork, smooth hand movements, symmetrical floor patterns, and the harmony of movement with musical accompaniment characterizes its movement structure. This dance also carries educational values, including discipline, cooperation, manners, aesthetics, and cultural preservation. Implications: this research has implications for the development of dance arts learning and efforts to preserve the Zapin pecah dua belas dance as part of the Riau Malay cultural identity. Originality: examines the movement structure and educational values ​​of the Zapin pecah dua belas dance at once, and emphasizes its role in learning the arts and preserving Riau Malay culture.

Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the transformation of the Joget Sonde dance at Sanggar Buih Selari, Pekanbaru, and how Malay cultural values are maintained in the process of adapting a traditional dance into a modern performance form. Method: this research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation, with data analyzed through the stages of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. Findings: the Joget Sonde dance at Sanggar Buih Selari has transformed movement, music, costume, and stage presentation to align with modern aesthetics. The dance movements have become more varied, traditional music is combined with modern instruments, costumes are made more dynamic, and performances are staged on formal platforms. Despite these innovations, Malay cultural values such as politeness, togetherness, beauty, and cultural identity are preserved. This transformation demonstrates creative and sustainable cultural preservation. Implications: the research indicates that innovations in transforming the Joget Sonde dance enable the creative preservation of Malay culture while remaining relevant to modern society. The findings can serve as a reference for artists and cultural managers in developing strategies to adapt traditional arts so that they remain vibrant, appealing, and educationally valuable. Originality: this research comprehensively examines the transformation of the Joget Sonde dance while demonstrating the creative and adaptive preservation of Malay cultural values.
