Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the influence of family education dynamics (consisting of parenting style, family communication, emotional closeness, and technological adaptation) on adolescent personality formation aged 15–18 years. Method: this study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to 100 students aged 15–18 years at Madrasah Aliyah Hasyimiyah, Bungah, Gresik, selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. Findings: all dimensions of family education dynamics (parenting style, family communication, emotional closeness, and technological adaptation) have a positive and significant effect on adolescent personality formation. Among these variables, family communication is found to be the most dominant factor influencing adolescent personality formation. Implications: strengthening family education through democratic parenting, effective communication, emotional closeness, and digital adaptation is essential for supporting adolescents’ personality development. Originality: examining family education dynamics as an integrated system, including parenting style, family communication, emotional closeness, and technological adaptation, in shaping adolescent personality formation, particularly among adolescents aged 15–18 years in the context of modern digital challenges.

Abstract

Purpose: to examine the impact of decentralization policies on public service effectiveness, governance quality, and community participation in Tulehu village, Central Maluku regency. Method: this study employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and then analyzed using an interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to examine the implementation of decentralization and its impact on public service effectiveness in Tulehu village. Findings: decentralization in Tulehu village has improved governance and community participation, particularly through musrenbang and Saniri institutions. However, public service effectiveness remains limited due to restricted village authority and dependence on higher-level government. Human resource capacity and local institutional support play a key role in enhancing administrative performance and transparency. Implications: effective decentralization requires not only authority delegation but also strong human resource capacity, institutional strengthening, and active community participation to improve public service delivery and local governance performance. Originality: focus on the implementation of decentralization in Tulehu village by integrating perspectives of local customary governance (Saniri negeri) and public administration, particularly in analyzing how institutional and social factors jointly influence public service performance in an island-based setting.

Abstract

Purpose: to analyze and compare the characteristics of nature-based tourism packages in Bukit Lawang and Sibolangit, North Sumatra, in supporting meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) activities in Medan. Method: this study uses a qualitative descriptive-comparative method. Data were collected through document analysis of tourism packages from online platforms and related literature, and analyzed using content analysis based on key indicators, including attraction, accessibility, amenities, itinerary structure, and MICE suitability. Findings: Bukit Lawang offers strong nature-based attractions and immersive ecotourism experiences, but is less suitable for MICE due to longer duration, lower flexibility, and limited accessibility. In contrast, Sibolangit is more suitable for MICE activities because of its proximity to Medan, shorter tour duration, and greater flexibility, though it offers a more limited selection of attractions and limited package development. Implications: integrating Bukit Lawang and Sibolangit into a bundled tourism package could enhance the development of MICE-supporting tourism in North Sumatra. Such integration has the potential to improve visitor experience, extend the length of stay, and increase economic benefits for local communities. Originality: lies in its comparative analysis of Bukit Lawang and Sibolangit as integrated nature-based tourism destinations for supporting MICE activities in Medan.

Abstract

Purpose: to identify and map digital credibility indicators of event organizers and examine how they contribute to trust building in the pre-event stage within the MICE industry. Method: this study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using purposive sampling to analyze five event organizers in Indonesia’s MICE industry. Data were collected through digital document analysis of websites, social media, and online portfolios, and were analyzed based on administrative information, portfolio consistency, and visual evidence to identify digital credibility indicators. Findings: event organizers’ digital credibility is built through three main indicators: administrative transparency, portfolio consistency, and visual evidence. Among these, visual content plays the most influential role in shaping trust by helping potential clients evaluate service quality before direct interaction. Implications: digital credibility is shaped not only by promotional activity but also by transparent information, consistent portfolio presentation, and authentic visual content. These indicators can guide both clients in evaluating Event Organizers and practitioners in strengthening their digital trust-building strategies. Originality: lies in mapping and integrating digital credibility indicators of event organizers into a structured framework, rather than focusing on isolated promotional tools or platforms, within the context of the MICE industry.   Open access article under CC–BY-SA license.

Abstract

Purpose: to examine and compare the foundations of knowledge in Islamic and Western perspectives, focusing on their concepts, sources, classifications, and epistemological differences. Method: this study uses a qualitative library research design. Data were collected from primary and secondary literature sources and analyzed descriptively to compare Islamic and Western perspectives on the foundations of knowledge. Findings: both Islamic and Western perspectives recognize reason and experience as important sources of knowledge. However, Islamic epistemology integrates revelation, reason, experience, and intuition as interconnected sources of knowledge with spiritual and moral dimensions, while Western epistemology primarily emphasizes rationalism and empiricism. The study also reveals differences in the classification, orientation, and purpose of knowledge, where Islam links knowledge to ethical and spiritual values, whereas Western thought focuses on objectivity, verification, and empirical validity. Implications: integrating Islamic epistemology and Western scientific approaches can contribute to a more holistic understanding of knowledge. Such integration combines methodological rigor and empirical validity with ethical and spiritual values, offering a more balanced framework for addressing contemporary scientific and social challenges. Originality: this study offers a comparative and integrative framework of Islamic and Western epistemology, highlighting their key similarities and differences in a concise and structured way.

Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the relationship between philosophy of science, epistemology, theories of truth, and major philosophical traditions in shaping the foundations and development of scientific knowledge. Method: this study employed a qualitative library research approach. Data were collected from primary and secondary literature on philosophy of science, epistemology, theories of truth, and major philosophical traditions, and analyzed using content analysis and descriptive-critical analysis. Findings: scientific knowledge is fundamentally shaped by philosophical assumptions underlying ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Epistemology plays a central role in knowledge construction and justification, while theories of truth, correspondence, coherence, and pragmatism provide complementary perspectives in defining scientific validity. Furthermore, rationalism, empiricism, positivism, post-positivism, and constructivism collectively influence the development of modern scientific paradigms, indicating that scientific knowledge is dynamic, interpretative, and paradigm-dependent. Implications: a stronger understanding of philosophical foundations is essential for developing more critical, reflective, and ethically responsible scientific research practices. Originality: this study offers an integrative framework that connects philosophy of science, epistemology, theories of truth, and major philosophical traditions to explain the construction and validation of scientific knowledge.

Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the concept of qadzaf in Islamic law and examine its relevance as a normative framework for protecting reputation in the context of digital defamation. Method: this study employs a qualitative normative legal research method, drawing on secondary data from Islamic legal texts and academic literature. The data are analyzed descriptively and comparatively to examine the concept of qadzaf and its relevance to digital defamation and Indonesian positive law. Findings: qadzaf is not only a legal category of false accusation of zina in Islamic law but also a broader principle for protecting human dignity and reputation. In the digital era, its values are relevant to addressing online defamation, emphasizing verification of information, and preventing harm to individuals’ reputations. The study also finds a substantive alignment between qadzaf and Indonesian positive law regarding the protection of honor, although they differ in their legal mechanisms and sanctions. Implications: the principles of qadzaf can serve as an ethical and normative framework for strengthening reputation protection in digital communication. Originality: lies in its reinterpretation of qadzaf beyond its classical scope as a hudud offense of false accusation of zina, positioning it instead as a broader normative framework for protecting reputation in the digital era. It further contributes by linking Islamic legal principles with contemporary issues of digital defamation and exploring their relevance within Indonesian positive law.

Abstract

Purpose: to reconstruct the concept of justice in the division of marital property for persons with disabilities within Indonesian marriage law by developing a disability-sensitive framework that considers functional capacity, marital contribution, and substantive justice in determining the equitable distribution of marital property after divorce. Method: this study employed normative legal research using statutory and conceptual approaches. Legal materials were analyzed through interpretative and discourse analysis to reconstruct justice in the division of marital property for persons with disabilities. Findings: the current regulation of marital property division in Indonesia, which is primarily based on equal distribution, requires a substantive justice approach for persons with disabilities. Justice should be assessed proportionally by considering functional capacity, actual contributions, the distinction between inability and negligence, and post-divorce vulnerability. Implications: to the development of Indonesian family law by proposing a disability-sensitive framework for marital property division that promotes substantive justice, equality, and the protection of human dignity. Originality: lies in reconstructing marital property justice through a disability-sensitive approach by integrating distributive justice theory and disability rights principles into Indonesian marriage law.
