Abstract

Islamic culture has played a central role in shaping and preserving the educational identity of Muslim minority communities in Southern Thailand, particularly in Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. This study aims to analyze how the history of Islamic culture contributes to the formation of Muslim educational identity through religious institutions, Malay cultural traditions, and the historical experience of minority communities. The study employs a qualitative library research design with a historical approach. Data were collected through documentary analysis of books, journal articles, theses, and scholarly works related to Islamization, Malay-Muslim culture, Islamic education, and cultural identity in Southern Thailand. The findings show that Muslim educational identity in Southern Thailand was shaped through the interaction between Islamic teachings, Malay cultural heritage, and educational institutions such as pondok, madrasahs, suraus, and mosques. These institutions function not only as centers of religious learning but also as spaces for transmitting Malay language, Jawi script, moral values, and collective memory. State educational reforms and modernization have transformed Islamic education, producing a hybrid model that combines classical Islamic scholarship with modern schooling. The study concludes that Islamic culture remains a foundational element in sustaining Muslim educational identity while enabling adaptive responses to social and political change.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the disconnect between the organizational structure of the administration and the effectiveness of enforcing discipline among students in the era of digital disruption. The main problem identified is the low level of systematic implementation of managerial functions, where supervision remains limited to formal administrative procedures and there is a lack of consistent role modeling by administrative staff. The objective of this study is to analyze the application of the POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) management functions as well as the strategic role of administrators as manager-murabbi in fostering student discipline at the Darul Ishlah Islamic Boarding School. The research method used is descriptive-analytical qualitative, employing data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation over a three-month period. The findings indicate that while planning and organizational structure are in place, the controlling function is the weakest link due to a lack of data-based evaluation and consistent follow-up on sanctions. The analysis concludes that student discipline is more effectively influenced by moral authority through the internalization of the values of muraqabah and amanah than by a purely regulatory approach. Concrete recommendations proposed include the standardization of digital-based standard operating procedures (SOPs) for transparency regarding disciplinary violations, as well as the regular conduct of transformative leadership training for administrators.

Abstract

The moral crisis among the younger generation, characterized by a decline in the value of honesty, a decrease in discipline, and a weakening of responsibility, highlights the urgent need to strengthen character education in schools. This study aims to analyze the role of character education in fostering the moral character of seventh-grade students at MMT Mercubuana Junior High School in Tulang Bawang Barat and to identify factors hindering its implementation. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that the school implements holistic strategies, including daily routines (5S culture, cleaning duty, group prayer), the integration of character values into Islamic Education (PAI) lessons, literacy activities, and the Scouting extracurricular program. These efforts effectively increased attendance discipline from 75% to 92% and reduced academic dishonesty from 15 cases to 3 cases per semester. However, implementation faces internal barriers such as low student motivation (35%) and the unstable psychological characteristics of adolescents, as well as external barriers including limited family involvement (40%), the negative influence of social media, and peer influence. The research recommendation is to strengthen school-family-community synergy through parenting education, digital literacy, peer mentoring programs, and continuous monitoring to ensure the comprehensive and sustainable internalization of character values.

Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, possesses vast marine resource potential; however, coastal environmental degradation driven by pollution, overfishing, and coral reef damage continues to rise. This condition underscores the urgency of enhancing students' ecological awareness through a contextual educational approach. This study aims to analyze the existing environmental learning curriculum, identify the local wisdom values of coastal communities, and formulate a curriculum model based on marine environmental management. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, collecting data through observation, interviews, and literature reviews, which are subsequently analyzed using a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) matrix. The results of the study yield an integrative-contextual curriculum design that transforms local wisdom values—such as marine conservation traditions and customary fishing norms—into student materials and activities (individual, group, project-based, and contextual). The successful implementation of this curriculum model heavily relies on educator competence, the availability of local content-based learning resources, and sustainable institutional support.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has created new opportunities for Islamic da’wah through various digital platforms, enabling the rapid and widespread dissemination of religious messages. However, this development also presents critical challenges such as hoaxes, misinformation, and unverified religious content. This study aims to examine the role of literacy through digital writing in supporting Islamic da’wah during the disruption era and its contribution to the effectiveness of da’wah communication. Employing a qualitative approach via library research, data were collected from books, scientific articles, and relevant previous studies, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that digital literacy, when supported by robust digital writing skills, plays a fundamental role in producing informative, credible, and accountable da’wah content. Furthermore, digital writing serves as a strategic medium for delivering adaptive and participatory religious messages that effectively meet the needs of the digital society. Therefore, strengthening literacy and digital writing skills is essential to sustain high-quality and moderate Islamic da’wah in the era of disruption.

Abstract

Religious moderation has become a strategic agenda in Indonesian education to strengthen social cohesion, tolerance, and national unity within a multicultural society. Madrasahs, as Islamic educational institutions, play a significant role in cultivating moderation values through curriculum implementation, teacher practices, and students’ daily interactions. This study aims to examine the influence of curriculum implementation, student behavior, and teacher roles on the internalization of religious moderation values in madrasahs in Jambi City. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey design involving 350 students from several public and private madrasahs. Data were collected through structured questionnaires measuring four variables: curriculum-based religious moderation, teacher role, student behavior, and religious moderation values. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression techniques. The findings reveal that curriculum implementation, teacher role, and student behavior significantly contribute to the development of religious moderation values among students. Among these factors, the teacher role emerged as the strongest predictor, indicating that teachers function not only as knowledge transmitters but also as role models in fostering tolerance, inclusiveness, anti-violence attitudes, and respect for diversity. The curriculum also demonstrated a positive influence by integrating moderation principles into learning activities, while positive student behavior reinforced the practical application of these values in school life. The study concludes that the successful cultivation of religious moderation in madrasahs requires a holistic educational approach involving curriculum design, exemplary teacher conduct, and supportive student behavior. These findings provide empirical evidence for policymakers and educational practitioners in strengthening religious moderation programs within Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

Student management is a crucial element in the education system that plays a role in managing and developing students' potential. Etymologically, management comes from the Italian term "maneggiare," which means to control. In the context of education, student management includes planning, implementation, and evaluation, encompassing needs analysis, recruitment, selection, orientation, as well as academic and non-academic coaching. The primary goal of student management is to organize student activities to support the teaching and learning process, thereby achieving national educational objectives. There are three approaches to student management: quantitative, qualitative, and integrated, each with its own advantages and challenges. The scope of student management includes planning, admission, supervision, evaluation, and monitoring of graduates. This research emphasizes the importance of effective management in creating a conducive learning environment and provides recommendations for enhancing students' learning experiences through systematic and integrated management. Thus, student management focuses not only on academic achievement but also on character development and the overall well-being of students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze differences in Qur'an memorization achievement between female university students enrolled in a tahfidz program and female salaf students at PPTQ Baitul Abidin Darussalam Wonosobo. The study employed a comparative quantitative approach using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 37 students from the 2023 cohort who had studied for three years, comprising 22 university tahfidz students and 15 salaf students. The data were obtained from documentation of memorization achievement measured in juz. The analysis involved descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and the Mann-Whitney U test because one group of data was not normally distributed. The results show that the mean memorization achievement of university tahfidz students was 14.14 juz, while that of salaf students was 17.33 juz. Descriptively, salaf students achieved a higher mean score with a difference of 3.19 juz. However, the Mann-Whitney U test produced U = 127.500, Z = -1.148, and p = 0.251, indicating no statistically significant difference between the two groups. These findings suggest that student status as university or salaf students does not automatically determine memorization achievement. Qur'an memorization achievement should be understood as an interaction among motivation, discipline, consistent review, social support, tutor guidance, and time management.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the repression of hadith in the lyrics of the song Aisyah Istri Rasulullah by Mr. Bie using Karl Mannheim's sociology of knowledge theory. The focus of the research includes the authenticity of the hadith used in the lyrics, the socio-historical background of the songwriter, and the objective and subjective meanings contained in the use of the hadith. This study uses a library research method with qualitative use through analysis of the song lyrics, the hadiths used as references, and various supporting literature. The results of the study show that several song lyrics, such as the Prophet drinking on Aisyah's lips and the Prophet running with Aisyah, have a basis in authentic hadith. Objectively, these hadiths contain values of respect for women, compassion, and household harmony. Subjectively, Mr. Bie interprets the hadith as a symbol of love and emotional closeness in the Prophet's family. Through this song, the hadith is reinterpreted into popular culture as a medium of da'wah that introduces Islamic family values to modern society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership model of the madrasah principal in increasing teacher motivation in learning activities in the classroom of MTs Nurul Hidayah Al Amin. The leadership of the madrasah principal has an important role in directing, fostering, and motivating teachers to be able to carry out learning tasks optimally. Leadership is not only manifested as administrative skills, but also as a process that influences, provides examples, and builds teacher work motivation through a humanistic and religious approach. This research is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach. The research was conducted at MTs Nurul Hidayah Al Amin with the research subjects being the madrasah principal and teachers. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, as well as drawing conclusions and verification to obtain in-depth and easy-to-understand research results. The results show that the madrasah principal applies a transformational leadership model combined with a religious approach. This leadership model is realized through providing motivation, discipline training, open communication, exemplary attitudes, and the creation of a conducive work climate. Teacher motivation in learning activities is influenced by intrinsic factors in the form of awareness of professional responsibility and extrinsic factors in the form of support and attention from the madrasah principal. This leadership model is able to increase teacher motivation in carrying out learning activities in the classroom more optimally.
