Abstract

Water pumps are widely used to meet household clean water demands. One of the factors affecting pump performance is suction height, as it influences flow capacity, head, efficiency, and the potential occurrence of cavitation. This study aimed to analyze the effect of suction height on the performance of the Shimizu PS-130 BIT pump in terms of flow capacity, total head, pump efficiency, and cavitation tendency. The research was conducted using a quantitative experimental method. The suction height variations applied were 2 m, 4 m, and 6 m. Testing was carried out by measuring flow rate, suction pressure, discharge pressure, and calculating head losses and pump efficiency for each suction height variation. The experimental data were then analyzed to determine the performance characteristics of the pump under different operating conditions. The results showed that increasing suction height led to a decrease in pump flow capacity from 0.000325 m³/s at a suction height of 2 m to 0.000300 m³/s at a suction height of 6 m. The total head increased from 2.50 m at a suction height of 2 m to 6.27 m at a suction height of 6 m. Pump efficiency decreased with increasing suction height, with the highest efficiency of 27% obtained at a suction height of 2 m and the lowest efficiency of 25% at a suction height of 6 m. Increasing suction height also reduced the pressure on the suction side, thereby increasing the tendency for cavitation, which may reduce pump performance. Overall, suction height significantly affected the hydraulic characteristics of the Shimizu PS-130 BIT pump, where lower suction heights resulted in better flow capacity and pump efficiency.

Abstract

Centrifugal pump performance is strongly determined by impeller geometry, yet many small- and medium-scale water pumps such as the Aqua 401 unit operate below their optimum efficiency because impeller design parameters are rarely optimized systematically. This study analyzes the effect of impeller blade count and blade outlet angle on the efficiency and hydraulic performance of the Aqua 401 centrifugal pump using a factorial Design of Experiment (DOE) approach. Two factors were varied: blade count (3, 5, and 7 blades) and outlet angle (25° and 30°), producing six treatment combinations tested experimentally under real operating conditions. Flow rate, head, input power, and efficiency were measured directly, and the results were analyzed using two-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) followed by regression modeling. Both blade count and outlet angle significantly affected pump efficiency (p < 0.05), while their interaction was not significant. The five-blade impeller with a 30° outlet angle produced the highest efficiency of 74.8%, an improvement of about 21% over the least efficient configuration. The regression model achieved a coefficient of determination of 0.923, indicating strong predictive accuracy. These findings provide a data-driven, empirically validated basis for optimizing impeller geometry in small-scale centrifugal pumps and support more energy-efficient pump operation.

Abstract

Wedding organizer services require flexible handling of package selection and customer-specific requests, yet ROS Wedding previously relied on direct communication and separated records. This study aims to design and evaluate a web-based service customization system using the Personal Extreme Programming (PXP) method. The research employed a research-and-development design, with data collected through observation, interviews, literature review, and questionnaires. PXP was operationalized through planning, design, coding, testing, and feedback. The system provides package information, customer registration, special-request recording, administrative data management, and WhatsApp-based confirmation. Black-box testing of 18 scenarios across six functional modules produced valid results for all scenarios. Evaluation by 15 respondents yielded 95.47% for interface and ease of use, 92.53% for customization functions, 92.27% for user satisfaction, and 93.42% overall, all categorized as very good. The findings indicate that PXP supports iterative single-developer development and centralizes dynamic service requirements. Future work should integrate online payments and financial reporting.
