Abstract

This study aims to synthesized and characteried TiO2-zeolite composite synthesised and evaluate the effect of varying of TiO2-zeolite composition as photocatalys for the degradation of methyl orange. Zeolite was activated by HCl treatment, and TiO2-zeoliet composites were synthesized using the impregnation method and characterized by XRF and XRD. For the composition variations, 3.000 g of zeolite was kept constant, while the amount of TiO2 was varied at (g) 0.1500, 1.0125, 1.875, 2.7375, 3.6000, respectively. The degradation test of methyl orange was measured using using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 463 nm. XRF characterization showed that zeolite activation increased the Si/Al ratio. XRD analysis of the zeolite revealed a diffraction pattern consistent with mordenite. In the TiO2-zeolite diffraction pattern, a new peak corresponding to the typical anatase phase with a tetragonal structure was observed, indicating succesful synthesis of the TiO2-zeolite composite. UV-Vis spektrofotometer analysis demonstrated that the TiO2-zeolite composite achieved optimum degradation efficiency of 98.28% at the 3.0000:1.875 composition.

Abstract

Java Island has been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which started in March 2020. This study aims to analyze the impact of the pandemic on the volume of railway passengers’ volume with a time series approach using an interventional ARIMA model. The data used is the number of monthly passengers from 2015 to 2024. Initial modeling on data before the pandemic produced the best model, namely ARIMA (0,2,1). To measure the impact of the pandemic, a gradual step intervention function is used which represents the gradual effect of the event. The estimation results show that the ARIMA (0,2,1) model with a gradual step intervention function is able to provide more accurate forecasting results, with a MAPE value of 18.39%. This model effectively captures changes in mobility patterns due to the pandemic, especially in the post-intervention recovery phase. The findings make an important contribution to transportation policy evaluation and future strategic planning

Abstract

Diarrhea continues to pose a significant public health challenge in Makassar City, with incidence varying across sub-districts. Mapping diarrhea risk is essential for public health planning, as it helps identify high-risk areas and allocate resources efficiently. Accurate spatial risk assessment supports targeted interventions and informs evidence-based health policies. This study aimed to identify areas with high and low relative risks (RR) of diarrhea cases using Bayesian spatial Conditional Autoregressive (CAR) models, specifically the Besag–York–Mollié (BYM) and Leroux approaches. The analysis was based on case data from 15 sub-districts in Makassar City in 2023. Model performance was assessed using the Deviance Information Criterion (DIC) and the Watanabe–Akaike Information Criterion (WAIC). The CAR-Leroux model with an Inverse Gamma (IG) hyperprior (0.5; 0.0005) was identified as the best-fitting model, providing the most reliable estimation of relative risk. Kepulauan Sangkarrang exhibited the highest RR, indicating a markedly elevated risk of diarrhea relative to the city average, while Biringkanaya District showed the lowest RR, reflecting a substantially lower risk compared to the average.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of science laboratories in junior high schools across Tasikmalaya City, focusing on existing challenges and opportunities for future development. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that laboratory management in most schools does not fully comply with the competency standards outlined in Regulation No. 26 of 2008 by the Ministry of National Education. Key challenges include the absence of trained aboratory staff, poorly documented organizational structures, limited use of digital tools, and a lack of systematic monitoring and evaluation. However, significant opportunities exist through enhancing teacher capacity, utilizing information technology, and leveraging regulatory frameworks and inter-school collaboration. The study recommends strengthening laboratory heads’ managerial competencies, appointing dedicated laboratory personnel, and implementing integrated administrative reporting systems to improve the effectiveness of science laboratories as learning facilities.

Abstract

This study aims to classify the regencies and cities in Southeast Sulawesi Province based on infectious disease cases. The data were obtained from the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Health Office. The Fuzzy C-Means (FCM )method was applied because it allows each data point to belong to multiple clusters with varying degrees of membership, making it suitable for health data that often exhibit uncertainty and overlapping characteristics. The analysis results show that the regions in Southeast Sulawesi can be grouped into five clusters based on the level of infectious disease cases. Each cluster represents a different level of disease prevalence, which can serve as a foundation for developing more effective and targeted public health policy strategies.

Abstract

The re-emergence of Monkeypox poses significant public health challenges in Indonesia. This disease continues to spread due to its zoonotic nature and the high frequency of human-animal interactions. This study aims to model the transmission dynamics of Monkeypox using the SIQR (Susceptible, Infectious, Quarantined, Recovered) framework and apply optimal control strategies through the Pantryagin Maximum Principle (PMP). Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health were utilised for model parameterisation, with numerical simulations conducted using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. Control strategies included quarantine, tecovirimat, and public education. The simulation results revealed that implementing optimal control reduced the infected population by up to 75% within the first 10 months compared to scenarios without control. The basic reproduction number () was successfully reduced from 2.5 to below 1, indicating that the outbreak was controlled. Additionally, the recovery rate increased by 30%, with the susceptible population achieving a disease-free equilibrium by the eighth month. These findings highlight that mathematically-driven interventions can provide effective solutions for managing infectious diseases. It is recommended that these strategies be integrated into public health policies to optimise resource allocation. Further research is necessary to evaluate the scalability of this approach for other zoonotic diseases.

Abstract

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) remains a major public health issue in Indonesia, with South Sulawesi showing a marked rise in cases from 2022 to 2024. This study aims to estimate and visualize the relative risk of AIDS across 24 districts and municipalities in the province by incorporating population density as a spatial covariate. Data were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) and the South Sulawesi Provincial Health Office. A Bayesian Localised Conditional Autoregressive (CAR) spatio-temporal framework was applied to account for both spatial dependence and temporal variation. Model selection was guided by the Deviance Information Criterion (DIC) and the Watanabe–Akaike Information Criterion (WAIC), with the best-fitting model identified at G = 3 using an Inverse-Gamma (1; 0.01) prior. The analysis revealed that population density had a significant positive association with AIDS incidence. Areas with higher density exhibited elevated relative risk values, particularly Makassar City (RR = 1.95) and Gowa Regency (RR = 1.82), whereas the lowest risks were found in Selayar (RR = 0.41) and East Luwu (RR = 0.45). These findings indicate distinct spatial clustering patterns and underscore the need for geographically focused intervention policies.
