It is a double anonymous peer-reviewed academic journal focusing on the relationship between sports, law, and justice in Indonesia and related contexts. The journal publishes scholarly works examining legal frameworks, regulations, governance, integrity, fairness, equality, and social justice in the sports sector. It welcomes studies on athletes’ rights, access and participation, discrimination, sports governance, dispute resolution, ethical practices, sports organizations, and the legal and social dimensions of the sports industry. The journal encourages interdisciplinary research connecting sports and law with human rights, social sciences, economics, public policy, and related fields. It publishes original research articles, review articles, case studies, and other scholarly works relevant to its scope. The journal applies an Open Access Policy, providing free and immediate access to published articles. Abstract

People with disabilities in Indonesia face numerous barriers to full participation in sports, including limited access to inclusive sports programs, inadequate facilities, and societal stigma. This paper examines the current state of disability sports in Indonesia, focusing on the legal and social frameworks that either facilitate or hinder the inclusion of people with disabilities in athletic activities. It highlights key initiatives and programs that aim to promote inclusivity, such as community-based sports programs and government-backed initiatives. The study also explores the legal protections available to athletes with disabilities and the challenges that persist in creating equal opportunities in sports. Through interviews with athletes, coaches, and policymakers, the paper proposes recommendations to improve accessibility, raise awareness, and promote disability justice in Indonesian sports.

Corporate sponsorship plays a significant role in the commercialization of Indonesian sports, yet it raises critical questions about sports justice, equity, and the welfare of athletes. This paper explores how corporate sponsorship and commercial interests shape the landscape of Indonesian sports, analyzing the ethical implications for athlete well-being and fairness. It addresses concerns such as the prioritization of profit over athlete health, the exclusion of certain sports or athletes due to sponsorship bias, and the implications for competition fairness. Through a case study of key sponsorship deals in Indonesian sports, the paper evaluates the role of corporate influence in shaping the priorities of sports organizations, and it proposes strategies for ensuring that sponsorship agreements promote justice, accessibility, and fairness for all athletes.

Abstract

Youth sports are a vital part of Indonesia's sports development strategy, yet access to these programs is often unequal, particularly for children from marginalized backgrounds. This paper examines the accessibility and inclusivity of youth sports programs in Indonesia, focusing on the systemic barriers that children from rural, low-income, and indigenous communities face in accessing sports opportunities. The study evaluates government and non-government initiatives aimed at providing equal opportunities for all children, and it explores the role of schools, local communities, and private organizations in promoting social justice in sports development. Through a combination of quantitative data and qualitative interviews, the paper proposes policies to ensure that youth sports are more inclusive, equitable, and accessible to all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

This paper explores how indigenous athletes are represented in mainstream sports, the support they receive from sports organizations, and the cultural barriers they encounter. It critically examines the intersection of ethnicity, identity, and sports justice, focusing on how the lack of cultural recognition can lead to exclusion and marginalization in Indonesia’s sports landscape. Through interviews with indigenous athletes, coaches, and sports administrators, the paper assesses the barriers to equal participation and suggests ways to promote greater inclusion of indigenous athletes in national sports programs. The paper argues for a more culturally sensitive and equitable approach to sports governance in Indonesia.

This paper examines the role of athletes in Indonesia's political landscape, focusing on their right to protest and the legal, social, and institutional responses to such actions. It critically analyzes the intersection of sports and politics, particularly in a country like Indonesia where political protest has historically been met with varying degrees of support and opposition. Drawing from case studies of athletes who have spoken out on political issues, the paper explores the tension between state control, sports organizations’ policies, and the personal freedoms of athletes. It argues that athletes should be granted the right to engage in political protest while considering the complex political and cultural dynamics within Indonesian society.

In post-conflict regions of Indonesia such as Aceh and Maluku, sports have been used as a tool for reconciliation, healing, and justice. This paper examines how sports contribute to peace-building and the promotion of social justice in areas scarred by ethnic, religious, and political conflict. It looks at community-based sports programs, local tournaments, and peace initiatives that use sports as a medium for dialogue, forgiveness, and unity. Drawing on case studies, interviews with participants, and analysis of the social dynamics in these regions, the paper assesses the effectiveness of sports in fostering social cohesion and justice in post-conflict settings. It argues that sports, when designed inclusively and with a focus on justice, can serve as a powerful catalyst for peace and rebuilding fractured communities in Indonesia.

The media plays a significant role in shaping public perceptions of athletes, yet biases and stereotypes often undermine the fair representation of athletes, especially those from minority or marginalized groups in Indonesia. This paper critically analyzes the role of sports media in Indonesia, focusing on the ways in which racial, gender, and socio-economic stereotypes influence the portrayal of athletes. It examines the ethical implications of biased coverage, including the reinforcement of societal inequalities and the negative impact on athletes' careers and public perceptions. Through content analysis of media coverage of Indonesian athletes, both domestically and internationally, the paper highlights the challenges of achieving justice and fairness in sports journalism and proposes strategies for a more ethical and inclusive approach to sports media.
