Factum: Jurnal Sejarah dan Pendidikan Sejarah promotes research in the broad field of history and Education with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region. Contributions are expected from historian, educator, teacher, senior researchers, project managers, research administrators and PhD students at advanced stages of their research, representing both public organizations and private industry. Equally, the journal if intended for scholars and students, reseachers working at research organizations and government agencies, and also for enterprises undertaking applied R&D to lead innovations. The editorial contents and elements that comprise the journal include: Theoretical articles Empirical studies Practice-oriented papers Case studies Review of papers, books, and resources. As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Submitted papers will, prior to the formal review, be screened so as to ensure their suitability and adequacy to the journal. In addition, an initial quality control will be performed, so as to ensure matters such as language, style of references and others, comply with the journal´s style. The below mentioned areas are just indicative. The editorial board also welcomes innovative articles that redefine any history and history education field. Abstract

This article entitled “Bagus Rangin Resistance: The Forgotten National War”. The main issue discussed in this essay is “Why there is resistance of Bagus Rangin in the year of 1806-1812 and how it affects society in the future”. The problem is assesed using the historical method through four steps of activity, there are; heuristic, criticism, interpretation and historiography. The result showed that the background of the Bagus Rangin resistance in 1806-1812 are because the high tax system applied by the colonial government, colonial exploitation and political domination of the Sultante of Cirebon which cause a reduction in the role of the Sultan in Cirebon residency. The leader of this resistance movement was called Bagus Rangin, people assumed that he is the messiah that being perceived as ‘Ratu Adil’ who will save the people, especially farmers and students from colonial tyranny. The impact of Bagus Rangin resistance is giving inspiration for the people of Cirebon to fight colonialism.

Abstract

This research is entitled “Surastri Karma Trimurti: The aim of this research is to increase student’s Historical Imagination in Learning History. This research related to application of the Serial Story technique where this activity is a series of student`s activity in learning history to increase student’s historical imagination. The student’s Historical imagination can be said was low, seen from student’s evaluation result. They wasn’t able to explore the content of the history. Some of them also can only memorize the facts that related to the content. The students wasn’t able to imagining period of history chronogically, also wasn’t able to imagining how an even could happens and how the atmosphere in the past was like when an historical even happened. The method of this research is Classroom Action Research with Elliot’s desain. This desain has several act steps such as Recconaisance, and then a plans, observe and reflect. These steps are repeated for several cycles until the learning procces is success and compatible with the aims of this research. Data collecting technique that used in this research were observe and interview and data collecting tools were interview guidelines, field note, and observation guidelines. The indicators of this research are pupils can feel themselves in the event of history by expressing their opinions about the event. Second, revealed the possibilities that will occur if the pupils become a figure or if they were in the event. Third, describe by writing, the situation or condition also the figure’s emotion, how they feel right in that event. Fourth, imagining the story using figurative language and the last is when they are telling the story, they can express their feeling by the face expression and also body gesture according to the story. Based on this research the aim of this research was reached with the increasing point in every indicator.

Abstract

The research aimed to have an in-depth study about the development of South China Sea issue that involved countries such as China, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia Brunei Darussalam and the ASEAN’s role as a Regional Organization in that conflict. In general, this study wants to answer the question about “how is ASEAN’s approaches in order to reconcile South China Sea Conflict peacefully?”. To examine the problem, researcher conducted a study by using historical method that includes four research steps namely collecting of written source through literature study (heuristics), source criticism, interpretation or source analysis and historiography. Researcher also using concepts to simplify the analysis, of which are a regional organization concept, a concept of interest, an international dispute concept, a conflict concept, diplomatic concept, and the law of the sea concept. A rationalisation for this South China Sea study, because the issue remains dynamic and it is difficult to find a solution. Many perspectives regarding claims that were made by countries around the South China Sea and the potentials aspects that embedded could disrupt peace and stability in the region’s security. These issues become challenging for ASEAN. The resulting study found that: there are numbers of a mechanism such as an informal, semi-formal and formal mechanism. However, those mechanisms have not been able to resolve the conflict. Several efforts have been made to prevent military conflicts. In its development, the South China conflict has shown a more positive progress.

Abstract

This research entitled as “Peranan Amir Machmud dalam Mempertahankan Pemerintahan Soeharto 1969-1982”. The main problem in this research is “How deep the role of Amir Machmud in maintaining Soeharto’s government 1969-1982?”. The hictorical method used in this research, that is consisting heuristic, critical sources, interpretation, and historiography. To deepen the analysis, the interdisipliner approach such as sociology and political science was used in this research, such as role, political stability, and general elections concepts also there was Patron-Client and Structuration theories. Amir Machmud was a prominent figure during Orde Baru period. Amir Machmud was born at Cibeber, Cimahi city and had successful military career during New Order era. Amir Machmud held position as minister of domestic affairs in 3 periods. As a minister, he had successfully carry on some urge problems to government, like PEPERA problem that considered as fraudulence because unappropriate based on New York agreement by international affairs.

Abstract

This research reviews about the role of a character in the formation and development of the Indonesian Republic military organization on the 1961 – 1965. The background why researcher taking this issue due to the interest in the condition of the development of the Indonesia military organization in the early period of independence. Which is in an all-round hazard and the need for a reliable unit, has forced TNI officer AD to engender a single entity, later called the army General Reserve or CADUAD that no other forerunner of strategic unity and also mobile that right now known as KOSTRAD. The method that used in this research is historical research by doing a four-step research, there are: heuristics, critique, interpretation, and historiography. The results showed that CADUAD is the military organization which was formed and prepared to carry out the operations for the liberation of West Irian that has been delayed since a long time. The establishment of KOSTRAD as one unity of Indonesia’s elite military nowadays that is inseparable from the Research Staff Letter filed by Soeharto who is at that time had risen to become a major general. In the years 1961 – 1965, KOSTRAD has managed to carry out major operations, including Trikora Operation, Dwikora Operation, and operation Completion Problem G 30 S.

Abstract

This research is entitled “The Role of Mobile Brigade Corps in Defending the Independence (19461949)”. The researcher chose this problem because Mobile Brigade Corpse was the main pioneer in defending the independence. At the time of defending the independence, this Mobile Brigade Corps was not disbanded by Japan so that the Mobile Brigade Corps was really essential in defending Indonesia’s independence. The main problem of this research is “How were the role of Mobile Brigade Corps in defending the independence?” The method used is the method of historical research by doing four steps of research which are heuristic, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The technique used in data collection is literature study by reviewing the sources of literature relevant to the issues studied. Based on the research results, it can be explained that: First, before the independence, there is a change in the role performed by Mobile Brigade Corps. In the time of the Dutch colonialism, the role of the Mobile Brigade Corps was to maintain security and order but during the Japanese colonialism the role of Mobile Brigade Corpse is combat troops in helping Japan to face the Allies. Second, the early days of independence were marked by Japan’s surrender to the Allies. After Japan surrendered to the Allies, all Japanese-formed military organizations were disbanded except the Mobile Brigade Corps. Under that condition, the Mobile Brigade Corpse joined the Indonesian republic. After joining the Indonesian republic, the role of the Mobile Brigade Corps was to disarm Japan along with the people. The disarmament results are then distributed to the struggle agencies. When entering the period of defending the independence, the role of the Mobile Brigade Corps is to fight against the threat of the Allies and the Netherlands. The resistance was carried out by the Mobile Brigade Corps along with other struggling agencies such as the People’s Security Army.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengelaborasi pengaruh kepemimpinan Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj terhadap perkembangan pendidikan pondok pesantren. Pesantren Albidayah merupakan pesantren modern yang masih mempertahankan unsur-unsur tradisional. Perkembangan pondok Pesantren Albidayah tidak terlepas dari salah satu tokoh yang pernah memimpin, yaitu Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj. Masalah utama yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini ialah “bagaimana sistem pendidikan pondok Pesantren Albidayah pada masa Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj pada tahun 1971-2011?”. Permasalahan tersebut dikaji dengan menggunakan metode historis, yang meliputi heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Dalam pengumpulan data dan sumber penelitian, menggunakan studi literatur dan wawancara terhadap saksi sejarah sebagai narasumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pondok Pesantren Albidayah di bawah kepemimpinan Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj memiliki perkembangan yang signifikan dalam bidang pendidikan. Berawal dari pendidikan pesantren tradisional (salafi) berkembang menjadi pesantren modern (khalafi) dengan menggabungkan pengetahuan agama dan pengetahuan umum. Perubahan sistem pendidikan pada masa kepemimpinan Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj yaitu dengan menjadikan Pesantren Albidayah sebagai lembaga pendidikan resmi di bawah pemerintah dengan mendirikan SP-IAIN (Sekolah Persiapan-Institut Agama Islam Negeri) pada tahun 1971. Kemudian pada tahun 1993 didirikan Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Albidayah dan tahun 2006 didirikan Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Terpadu Albidayah. Kurikulum yang digunakan oleh Pesantren Albidayah yaitu Kurikulum Terpadu yang meliputi Kurikulum Pesantren, Kurikulum Kemendikbud, dan Kurikulum Kementrian Agama

Abstract

This article aimed to elaborate China’s foreign policy towards Zimbabwe under Hu Jintao’s leadership. Based on the “social construction” logic, it was a logical consequence influenced by intersubjective factors and also formed and defined based on the actor’s social identity. In this case, historical power influenced a positive intersubjective and form an established structure of China “amity” towards Zimbabwe. It can be understood how China perceived Zimbabwe as a “friend”. Besides, China’s identity transformation as a “peaceful rise” country, defined the interest formation towards economic and development cooperation manifested through strengthening cooperation in the China-Zimbabwe Strategic Partnership’s scheme. Thus, Hu Jintaos foreign policy towardsZimbabwe was not only determined by the material dimension, but strongly determinedby the ideational dimension where China under Hu Jintao’s leadership was strivedto represent of a “peaceful rise” identity that cannot be separated from the values of“friendship, peace, cooperation, and development.

Abstract

This research entitled “Church Reform in England in 1529-1534: A Study of the Background of Establishment of Anglican Church in Britain”. The difference in characteristics of church reform in England is the background of this research. There are four main questions of research: (1) What was the situation of the Church of England before the Church Reform of 1534? (2) What were the factors of the Church’s Reformation in England in 1534? (3) How was the process of secession of the Church of England from the Roman Church in the Church Reformation of England in 1534? (4) How was the impact of the Church Reformation in England in 1534? The main purpose of this research is to describe about what happened during the Church Reformation process in Britain which took place in 1534. This study uses historical methods consisting of heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. Based on research results, it was found that, one, the church situation in England is very bad. Corruption, demoralization, and veneration of relics become a culture. Two, Clement VII’s refusal to annul the marriage of King Henry VIII was the trigger of secession. Three, the process of separation is done through the Reform Parliament. The Act of Supremacy makes him the sole ruler of the Kingdom of England and Anglican Church. Four, the greatest impact was the religious crisis that occurred along the Tudor Dynasty, and the Kingdom of England became a country with complete sovereignty.

Abstract

This study aimed to elaborate on the influence of Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj leadership to boarding school’s education development. Albidayah Boarding School is a modern boarding school which still maintain traditional elements. Albidayah Boarding School’s development cannot be apart from one of the figures that once led, namely Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj. The main problem in this research is “how was the education system of Albidayah Boarding School under the leadership of Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj in 1971-2011?”. This problem was examined by using a historical method that includes heuristic, critics, interpretation, and historiography. For data collection and research sources, conducted with literature study and history's witness interviews. Results study showed that under the leadership of Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj, Albidayah Boarding School has a significant development in the education field. Began with the traditional Islamic boarding school education (salafi) and developed into a modern boarding school (khalafi) by combining religion and general knowledge. The changing in the education system in Kiai Haji Yayat Ruhiyat Sirodj leadership era was made Albidayah Boarding School as official education institution under the government to build SP-IAIN (Sekolah Persiapan-Institut Agama Islam Negeri/ School Preparation-the State of Islamic Institute) in 1971. Then in 1993, Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Albidayah was built and in 2006 an Integrated Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Albidayah was also built. The curriculum that used by Albidayah Boarding School is an integrated curriculum that covers Boarding School Curriculum, the Ministry of Education and Culture Curriculum, and the Ministry of Religion Curriculum.
