Abstract

Purpose – This paper investigates persistent stock market anomalies, liquidity patterns, volatility spillovers, governance quality, and macroeconomic shocks in emerging markets. The main objective is to provide a comprehensive synthesis of empirical evidence and propose an adaptive, multifactor framework that better captures the evolving dynamics of these markets. Methodology/approach – A systematic literature review methodology is applied, combining thematic analysis and comparative synthesis. Data is sourced from peer-reviewed articles, sectoral reports, and international databases. The review identifies major patterns, evaluates the consistency of empirical findings, and contextualizes results using triangulation with global market data. Findings – Market efficiency in emerging economies is found to be episodic and context-dependent. Size and value premiums persist, but their magnitude shifts with economic regimes, sectoral characteristics, and the presence of liquidity constraints or governance reforms. Novelty/value –Addressing the gap in cross-sector and multi-country research, this paper synthesizes findings from 22 peer-reviewed empirical studies, complemented by authoritative global data. The novelty lies in the construction of a holistic, adaptive framework that incorporates liquidity, volatility, governance, macro shocks, and behavioral biases—elements rarely examined together in the context of emerging markets.

Abstract

Purpose – This paper aims to examine the moderating effect of ownership structure on the connection among profitability and dividend policy in manufacturing entities listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period 2012–2021. Methodology/approach – A quantitative approach was employed using secondary data from 141 purposively selected manufacturing firms, totaling 1,117 firm-year observations. The analysis utilized Pure Moderation and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to test the interactions between profitability, ownership structure, and dividend policy. Findings – The results show that profitability and liquidity significantly and positively influence dividend policy, while leverage has a negative effect. Managerial ownership weakens dividend distribution, suggesting a preference for internal financing through retained earnings. In contrast, institutional ownership strengthens the connection among profitability and dividend policy, acting as a monitoring mechanism that supports shareholder-aligned dividend decisions. Novelty/value – This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the differentiated roles of ownership structure in shaping dividend policy outcomes. It underscores the strategic importance of aligning governance mechanisms with financial performance to ensure sustainable dividend practices.

Abstract

Financial exclusion remains a significant challenge in developing economies like Bangladesh, impeding economic growth due to traditional banking's accessibility, cost, and infrastructure barriers. Embedded finance, which integrates financial services into digital platforms, offers a promising solution. Despite Bangladesh's rapid digital transformation and the rise of mobile financial services, the real-world impact of embedded finance on financial inclusion, especially among rural and low-income populations, is underexplored. This study addresses this gap by providing a data-driven evaluation of embedded finance's role in expanding financial access, focusing on solutions within e-commerce, fintech, and digital payment ecosystems in Bangladesh. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilized structured surveys from 500 respondents (users, non-users, and industry professionals) and secondary data from government and fintech reports. It applies the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Diffusion of Innovation Theory, Network Effects, and Behavioral Economics to interpret findings. The study reveals that embedded finance significantly enhances financial inclusion, with higher adoption among digitally literate users and increased transaction frequency via e-commerce integrations, reducing reliance on traditional banking. However, security concerns and regulatory uncertainties negatively impact adoption. These findings contribute to academic literature on digital finance and offer practical recommendations for strengthening security frameworks, regulatory policies, and digital literacy initiatives to foster broader adoption. While limited by its cross-sectional, regional scope, this research provides crucial insights for fintech firms, policymakers, and financial institutions.

Abstract

Purpose – This This paper seeks to examine the determinants affecting the behavior of food industry stakeholders in utilizing the oss.go.id and e-reg.rba.pom.go.id applications for acquiring BPOM registration numbers, employing the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) framework and the impact of Trust on the utilization of these applications. Methodology/approach – This research utilized a quantitative approach via a survey of 43 food enterprises in Morotai Island Regency and North Halmahera Regency, all of which possessed a BPOM registration number for a minimum of two years. The employed sample technique was continuous sampling, and data analysis was conducted utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS 4 software. Findings – It was found that the attitude toward the behavior variable has a significant direct effect on behavior. The perceived behavioral control variable significantly affects behavior, but indirectly, with behavioral intention as a mediator. In the meantime, behavior is not much impacted by subjective norms, either directly or indirectly. Behavioral intention, as a mediating variable, significantly influences behavior.. Novelty/value – Understanding The effective implementation of government digital services in 3T regions necessitates the improvement of service quality, infrastructure, and trust, rather than depending exclusively on social influence, and promoting public trust through transparency and platform dependability

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of organizational culture and transactional leadership on employee performance with employee engagement as a mediating variable. The research was conducted at PT. Kreasi Hexa Indonesia, an outsourching service provider located in Bekasi, Indonesia. This study employed a quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 150 respondents as the research sample. The data were then analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to examine both direct and indirect causal relationship among the studied variables. The findings reveal that organizational culture and transactional leadership have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, employee engagement was found to serve as a partial mediator, strengthening indirect impact of organizational culture and transactional leadership on performance improvement. These result suggest that managerial practices not only exert a direct influence on performance but also operate through the psychological mechanism of employee engagement with their work and organization. The novelty of this study lies in its empirical evidence from the Indonesian outsourcing sector, demonstrating that employee engagement functions as a strategic psychological mechanism linking organizational culture, leadership practices, and employee engagement strategies in order to achieve sustainable performance improvement.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the phenomenon of tax avoidance practices, which remain a critical issue in Indonesia, particularly among publicly listed companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Such practices not only reduce potential state revenue but also create distortions in business competition. The objective of this research is to investigate the influence of corporate social responsibility, institutional ownership, and transfer pricing on tax avoidance. The study is grounded in agency theory and ecofegemony theory. Samples were selected using a purposive sampling method, yielding 153 observations from 51 companies. Panel data regression was employed for data analysis, while data processing was conducted using the Econometric Views (EViews) 10 software. The findings indicate that corporate social responsibility does not have a significant effect on tax avoidance, whereas institutional ownership and transfer pricing significantly influence tax avoidance.
