Abstract

Dalam artikel ini memuat hasil penelitian yang mengungkap profil kemampuan mengajar calon guru fisika dalam melaksanakan PPL. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan jumlah subjek penelitian 12 orang calon guru fisika di 6 sekolah tempat PPL. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, wawancara dan angket diperoleh profil kemampuan calon guru fisika adalah sebagai berikut: kemampuan calon guru dalam mengajar masih berada pada katagori rendah, terutama kemampuan calon guru dalam melakukan apersepsi dan penggalian konsepsi awal, dan memotivasi siswa, kemampuan merancang percobaan, mengelola kelas, mengaktifkan siswa untuk bertanya dan mengemukakan gagasan, mengelola waktu, mengkaitkan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, serta kemampuan calon guru dalam menutup pembelajaran terutama dalam melakukan refleksi. Kesulitan-kesulitan yang dihadapi adalah pengelolaan kelas dengan jumlah siswa (+ 45 orang), menerapkan model pembelajaran yang lebih bervariasi, mengembangkan penilaian proses dan mengembangkan media dengan alat dan bahan yang sederhana.

Abstract

ABSTRAKAmilosa merupakan salah satu komponen terbesar penyusun pati selain amilopektin. Amilosa memiliki monomer D-glukosa yang membentuk rantai lurus dengan ikatan glikosida pada posisi α pada atom C1 dan C4. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan jumlah unit pengulangan glukosa dalam amilosa dengan metode sederhana sehingga dapat diaplikasikan sebagai media pembelajaran dalam materi karbohidrat. Amilosa yang digunakan bersumber dari pati talas. Metode penelitian diawali dengan isolasi pati dari umbi talas, isolasi amilosa dari pati talas, serta penentuan jumlah unit pengulangan glukosa dalam amilosa yang dilakukan berdasarkan analisis kestabilan I2 dalam amilosa. Analisis spektrometer IR digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi gugus-gugus fungsi yang terdapat dalam amilosa sedangkan analisis UV/UV-Vis dilakukan untuk menentukan absorbansi larutan kompleks amilosa-I2. Hasil analisis dan perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa satu unit amilosa terdiri dari 5 unit glukosa, atau massa molekul rantai amilosa sebesar 810. Pemanasan amilosa yang tinggi menyebabkan beberapa rantai amilosa terputus sehingga massa molekulnya berkurang.ABSTRACTAmylose is one of starch composer compound beside amylopectin. Amylose has a D-glucose monomer in long chain form with glycosides bonds in C1 and C4 atoms. This research’s aim is to determine glucose repeating unit in amylose with a simple method so that it can be applied as a learning media in carbohydrate lesson. Amylose source is from taro starch. The research method first is isolation of starch from taro, then isolation of amylose from taro’s starch, and determination of glucose repeating unit of amylose which is based on analysis the stability of I2 in amylose. IR spectrometer analysis is used to identify the functional groups in amylose and UV/UV-Vis analysis is used to determine the amylose-I2 complex’s absorbance. Analysis resulted one amylose unit contains 5 glucose unit, which is the molecular mass of amylose is 810. The heating of amylose in relatively high temperature caused some of amylose‘s chains broken so that decrease it’s molecular mass.

Abstract

ABSTRAKMatematika merupakan salah satu mata pelajaran yang menantang pemahaman siswa; pokok bahasan peluang dalam topik statistik merupakan hal yang bermanfaat dan mempunyai aplikasi ke berbagai disiplin ilmu. Namun, pokok bahasan ini termasuk yang kurang dipahami oleh siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pemahaman siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah peluang (probabilitas) dan untuk mengetahui masalah yang dihadapi oleh siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah peluang. Untuk tujuan tersebut, satu studi kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus telah dilakukan dengan jumlah sampel secara purposif sebanyak delapan orang pada siswa kelas sepuluh di sekolah menengah negeri di daerah Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Data penelitian pada tahap awal didapat dengan memberikan ujian diagnostik kepada sampel, kemudian empat orang diantaranya dipilih untuk di wawancara secara mendalam mengenai jawaban yang diberikan. Wawancara difokuskan kepada pola pemahaman siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah peluang dan masalah yang di hadapi oleh mereka dalam menyelesaikan masalah peluang tersebut. Data kualitatif kemudian dianalisis menggunakan kaedah analisis tematik. Hasil studi mendapati beberapa tema dan pola yang menjelaskan tentang pemahaman siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah peluang yaitu miskonsepsi, penguasaan konsep yang lemah dan tidak memahami kalimat dan istilah.ABSTRACTMathematics is one the challenging subject to students’ understanding, and probability concepts in statistics is one of the concept that used in many disciplines. However, this topic is one that not comprehensively understood by students. This study purpose is to seek students understanding about probability topic and to know problem that students’ face when solving prability problems. A qualitative study that employed case study design has been coducted with sampling of eight of year 10 students selected purposively in one public secondary school in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. First stage of data collection came from diagnostic tests to students; then four of the students are chosen to be interviewed. Data from interviews and diagnostic test analyse with thematics method. The study found that students have misconception to probability concept, they have poor understanding and cannot understand terms used.

Abstract

Teori Medan Kuantum dalam fisika digunakan untuk memodelkan pasar finansial sekunder. Berbeda dengan deskripsi stokastik, perumusan menggunakan teori medan kuantum menekankan pada pentingnya aktifitas perdagangan dalam menentukan nilai dari suatu sekuritas. Semua kemungkinan yang dapat mempengaruhi investor dan keuangan merupakan basis dalam Runga Hilbert dari keadaan pasar. Asimptotis volatilitas menunjukkan probabilitas jangka panjang dari saham dan produk derivatif yang diperdagangkan. Makalah ini membahas mengenai volatilitas laju kontrak forward (forward rates) dalam pasar sekunder. Volatilitas forward rates pada teori sebelumnya telah ditinjau sebagai suatu variabel yang deterministik. Teori medan kuantum dalam paper ini kemudian dikaji generalisasinya untuk kasus volatilitas yang stokastik.

Abstract

An interesting application of unique factorization in Z[X] is Sicherman dice.  The dice is a pair of dice whose has different number from ordinary dice which faces are labeled 1 through 6. But probability the sum  of faces are same as the sum of ordinary dices. Sicherman dice is obtained by using one to one correspondence between the two polynomials and the face of two dice of ordinary dice.

Abstract

ABSTRAKStrukur Aljabar sebagai salah satu mata kuliah wajib yang diberikan di Program Studi Matematika di Indonesia dirasakan sulit oleh sebagian besar mahasiswa. Sebagai salah satu alternatif untuk mengatasi hal itu maka diperkenalkan penggunaan software GAP (Group, Algorithm, and Programming) dalam proses belajar mengajar pada mata kuliah Strukur Aljabar. Selain mendukung dalam proses pembelaja-ran, penggunaan software GAP ini mendukung pemberlakuan Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi (KBK) di Perguruan Tinggi, khususnya di Program Studi Matematika, yang secara tidak langsung menuntut pembelajaran Student Centered Learning (SCL). Pengajaran dengan menggunakan software ini akan diujicobakan di Departemen Matematika FMIPA UNPAD. Dengan demikian diharapkan dapat mem-berikan motivasi untuk belajar Struktur Aljabar dengan cara yang tidak membosankan yang pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap mata kuliah tersebut. Penelitian ini baru sebatas kajian teori dan belum diimplementasikanABSTRACTAs one of the compulsory subjects given in the Mathematical Studies Program in Indonesia, Algebraic Structure is perceived as difficult by most students. One alternative to overcome it is by introducing the use of GAP software (Group, Algorithm, and Programming) in teaching and learning for Algebraic Structure course. In addition to support the learning process, the use of GAP software support the implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum in universities, especially in Mathematics Program, which indirectly requires Student Centered Learning (SCL). Teaching with this software will be tested in Department of Mathematics Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences. Hence the use of it is expected to provide the motivation to learn algebraic structure in a way that is not boring, and will subsequently increase students’ understanding of the course. This research is a theoretical study and has not been implemented yet.

Abstract

We conducted a research about communication skill of secondary biology student in Arthropode classification using phenetic method. Data were obtained from written report and oral presentation. There were five indicators used to analyze communication skill in oral presentation, which included their ability to express opinion themselves and hearing the opinion from other, their ability to master the concept to be presented, their ability to communicate of results systematically and clearly, their ability to question, and their ability to answer. Five indicators used in written report were their ability to choose informative character to build fenogram, their ability to undergo step by step, resulted phenogram, their ability to interpret the results, and their ability to make a report. Results showed that communication skill in oral were good enough (63.75%), but low (56.25%) in written. Based on interview, however, students felt comfortable when teacher used the phenetic method to understand classification of Arthropode. This method has markedly stimulated the students to study actively in the classroom.

Abstract

A typical example in courses on electricity and magnetism is that of a conductor carrying a steady current. It is said that the electric field inside the conductor is parallel to the current and that there is no transverse (radial) component of the field. While this is reasonable assumption justified for pedagogical purposes, it is not rigorously true. In this paper, the transverse electrical field is calculated as being different from zero, but negligible from an experimental point of view. For various conductors, the transverse electrical field is a polynomial function from steady current.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan Mind Map Siklus, Mind Map Laba-laba dan Konvensional pada pokok bahasan bangun ruang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi eksperimen. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas delapan di salah satu SMP di Kota Bandung. Instrumen penelitian terdiri atas pretest dan posttest yang berisi soal-soal untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa pada materi bangun ruang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan nilai rata-rata skor posttest, kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa di ketiga kelas berbeda yaitu kelas Mind Map Siklus sebesar 60,0, kelas Mind Map Laba-laba sebesar 66,2 dan kelas Konvensional sebesar 54,2 dari skor maksimum ideal 100. Hasil analisis Anova menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematika antara siswa yang menggunakan Mind Map Siklus, Mind Map Laba-laba dan Konvensional (p= 0,001, p 0,05). Rata-rata N-gain untuk kelas Mind Map Siklus dan Mind Map Laba-laba masing-masing adalah sebesar 0,47 dan 0,51 dengan interpretasi sedang, sementara untuk kelas Konvensional adalah sebesar 0,36 dengan interpretasi rendah. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa setelah diberikan perlakuan pembelajaran Mind Map Siklus dan Mind Map Laba-laba. ABSTRACTThis study aimed to determine creative thinking ability of students received Mind Map Cycle, Spiders Mind Map and Conventional learning. Research was quasi experimental method with 8th grade students in one of junior high schools in Bandung as the subjects. Research instrument consist of pretest and posttest that contains questions to determine students' ability to think creatively on geometry subjects. Results showed that based on posttest score, students’ creative thinking ability was as follows: average score was 60.0 for Cycle Mind Map class, 66.2 for Spiders Mind Map class and 54.2 for Conventional class, from maximum score of 100. Anova analysis suggested that differences between treatment (class) did occur (p= 0.00, p 0,05). Furthermore, average N-gain for Cycle Mind Map Class and Spiders Mind Map class were 0.47 and 0.51 (moderate), while for Conventional class was 0.36 (low). Thus, it can be concluded that students’ creative thinking ability was increased after Mind Map Cycle and Spider Mind Map treatment.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to assess students’ understanding of number sense and mental computation among Form One, Form Two, Form Three and Form Four students. A total of 1756 students, ages ranging from 12 to 17 years, from thirteen schools in Selangor participated in this study. A majority (74.9%) of these students obtained an A grade for their respective year-end school examinations. The design for this study was quantitative in nature where the data on student’s sense of numbers was collected using two instruments, namely, Number Sense Test and Mental Computation Test. Each of these instruments consisted of 50 and 45 items respectively. The results from this study indicate that students were not able to cope to the Number Sense Test as compared to the Mental Computation Test. The former unveils a low percentage of 37.3% to 47.7% as compared to the latter of 79% to 88.6% across the levels. In the number Sense Test, surprisingly, there was no significant difference in the results between Form 1 students and Form 2 students and also between Form 3 students and Form 4 students. This seems to indicate that as the number of years in schools increase, there is an increasing reliance on algorithm and procedures. Although in the literature it has been argued that including mental computation in a mathematics curriculum promotes number sense (McIntosh et. al., 1997; Reys, Reys, Nohda, Emori, 2005), this was not the case in this study. It seems that an over reliance on paper and pencil computation at the expense of intuitive understanding of numbers is taking place among these students.
