Abstract

Kata kunci: efektivitas, bahan ajar mulok, cerita rakyat, pendidikan karakter A MODEL OF LOCAL CONTENT LEARNING MATERIALS BASED ON FOLKLORES FOR CHARACTER EDUCATION AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLSAbstractThis study aimed to design a model of local content learning materials based on folklores for character education. This was a research and development study using Borg and Gall’s model. The steps were a preliminary study, draft designing, expert and user assessments, and a field tryout. The results of expert and user assessments showed that the developed materials satisfied the appropriateness criteria. The appropriateness assessments were focused on four components, namely content, language, presentation, and graphics, of which the average was 78.91%. The effectiveness was based on the mean score from the field tryout by referring to the minimum mastery criterion (MMC) for a local content subject, namely 65. The result of the field tryout was indicated by a mean score of 71.74 for the school mastery as a whole. The students’ average achievement which was higher than the MMC indicated that the learning materials were effective so that they were appropriate for use in the local content learning process. Keywords: effectiveness, local content learning materials, folklores, character education

Abstract

AbstractGerong lyrics as the only orality in the Prambanan Ramayana ballet no longer present the story of Rama in its entirety. Although most gerong lyrics contain the scenes, the singersare not always fixated on the lyrics, but prioritize the tones of the chants. This study aimsto reveal the structure and formula of gerong chants in the Prambanan Ramayana ballet. Itused Levi-Strauss’ structuralism theory and Albert Lord’s formula theory and employedthe qualitative descriptive method. The data were gerong lyrics and their chanting andvarious supporting orality elements. The results of the study show that the structure inthe form of geronginter-lyric relation does not show the Ramayana story plot. In addition,a gerong chant formula is found. The chant formula becomes one of the developments of Lord’s formula theory giving priority to the formula of the oral lyrics. Keywords: Ramayana Ballet, structuralism, formula, gerong, chants

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the experience of Angela Murray, the female mulatto protagonist, when she finally decides to pass as a white person in Plum Bun, a novel written by Jessie Redmon Fauset. Considering that the focus of analysis is a female, the feminist literary criticism is used as the main framework. The contextual method of analysis is supported by some concepts concerning skin color and passing. The result shows that Angela goes through three periods of her existence. At first she plays with her skin color by passing temporarily as white with her mulatto mother. Then she decides to pass permanently as white and moves to a different state in which she is involved in an intimate relationship with a wealthy racist white man and humiliatingly hurts her younger black sister, her black female acquaintance, and the man she actually loves. Finally she confesses her true racial heritage and makes amends to the people she has hurt and finds the happiness she has sought so far. Keywords: skin color, passing as white, racist, racial heritage PENGALAMAN ANGELA MURRAY MENJADI KULIT PUTIH DALAM PLUM BUN KARYA JESSIE REDMON FAUSET AbstrakTujuan dari makalah ini adalah untuk mengkaji pengalaman Angela Murray, protagonis mulato perempuan, ketika ia akhirnya memutuskan untuk ‘passing’ atau menjadi kulit putih dalam novel berjudul Plum Bun karya Jessie Redmon Fauset. Abstract

Halilian is a prose or story presented in a relaxing situation or leisure time. The Angkola community’s social reality, local wisdom, socio-cultural values, and ideology reflected in the Halilian text can be revealed through a systemic functionallinguistics study. This study tries to reveal the social construction, comprising men’sand women’s positions and roles in society. Human relations and life nuances due to the relations vary, depending on the problems that each actor encounters. Human beings have problems related to family and society. The findings show that in the Angkola culture: (1) it is necessary to pay a visit to parents wherever one lives because this has effects on life, (2) one must keep promise, (3) there is still a belief in spirits, and (4) the husband-wife interaction is a one way interaction, with the husband’s power being stronger than the wife’s.
